The monster in his head awoke yet again. It wasn’t the first time either. It showed its face two years ago as well. He couldn’t keep it back anymore. He tried so hard, but the monster kept crawling back in his head and this led to so many conflicts, it broke his other half as well. His other half couldn’t take it anymore and, as such, he broke her in the process.
Left in tears, she told him she didn’t want to speak to him anymore, at least until he was with her in England. Even then, when he would come off the train she’d smack him in the head. It was what he deserved, and he agreed with that as well.
The silence he felt was deafening, but with the help of his friend he pulled through. But, in the back of his mind, he couldn’t help but wonder; “What would happen now? What would happen…would he be alone again? Even if he wouldn’t be, could it ever be the same?”
By now you must have come to realize what this monster is. Fear. The cold, cunning and ruthless monster borne of insecurity and hate. He couldn’t challenge it anymore. He let his fear control him, and it may have costed him his relationship with the single most beautiful girl out there.
He loved her you know? To death, he loved her so much that he could not let her go. He heard stories; stories that tell of love is more than being with them, but also about letting go. He never imagined it would happen again. He thought he was a changed man…
He still loves her to this day, and I don’t think he will ever stop loving her. He just wonders, what now? What happens next? He knew he’d survive, but life without her wouldn’t be worth it. She didn’t break up with him that night, and she said he should’ve considered himself lucky. He agreed, naturally. It was because of him that even her parents didn’t approve of her new friend. It was never his intention to create such strife.
She would not break up with him because she was angry and make stupid mistakes, and that meant a lot to him. It meant, or at least in his eyes, that she still cared, and wished for a happy end with him. But the fear is ever present, waiting for the moment that he falters yet again. He would need to focus on something else completely.
So, now he’s sitting behind his desk. Waiting for the time that he will visit her in England.
