Yes that's true, but Kurama ability is not to sense chakra, just hatred, so even with* an exclamatory explanation, Kurama still wouldn't able to know.

Well the Bijuu hated humans because they believed they were only capable of war and that the tailed beasts were only tools and weapons of the humans.

Ashura and Indra started the war of all wars, pretty much in a fight over power.

It might've not meant anything to Kurama to say Naruto reminded him of Ashura, in fact, I bet Hashirama reminded Kurama more of Ashura, which is why Hashirama was included in that whole "Humans are all the same" flashback.

There's ways to explain it, but it is odd I'll admit. Especially when the Bijuu all agreed that Naruto was the successor, which should have instantly reminded them of Ashura. The explanation is going to be weird when Kishi gets to it :| but there's...."explanations"

How didn't Kurama recognize Ashura's chakra in Naruto from the start, considering that he was inside in Ashura once according to the scan where Sage talks about starting the long war between Ashura and Indra in which Ashura has bijju mode and indra has susanoo? I can remember Kurama once asked himself "just who are you Naruto?"

Naruto's chakra was weak and did not develop until he started developing his techniques, same as Ashura, who had to train hard for a long time to make his chakra match Indra's. Before that, he had to use a whole army against him.

Kurama along with the other bijuus had also been subjugated, manipulated and sealed off and on by people for decades to centuries. They didn't like them period. The bijuus also loved Hagoromo who was basically their father and the shinobi turning his ninshuu into ninjutsus for war probably didn't sit well with them either.

It was also foreshadowed in the Sai arc that Kurama found out who Naruto was when he stated to Sasuke he'd regret it if he killed him.

It wouldve given too much of the story away. They did make a reference to Ashura when he learned their names. At the time everyone thought they were talking about the So6P
