People give it too much credit, however. The genjutsu is broken when the victim is informed of the genjutsu. So any summoner with a summon can be freed, jinchuriki can be freed, those with familiars can be freed. It operates under the same perimeters of a normal genjutsu if you take away the ability to free yourself willingly.

Also Danzo had no need to use eye contact.

even if danzo's sharingan was covered with bandages, genjutsu could still be cast because sasuke used genjutsu on bee even though killer bee was wearing glasses, danzo could have used translucent bandages

That said, in an all-out hypothetical battle between a KA user and anyone else (bar a perfect jin) they get one-shotted at the start of the match.
