A question about izanagi

I'm not sure if this has been answered before, if it has then could someone guide to the appropriate thread. Anyways my question was does the use of izanagi require both senju and uchiha powers of was that kishi just trolling? Since obviously people like Itachi dont need both. The reason why I'm asking is because I saw tobi saying that to konan

Itachi used Izanami, not Izanagi.

You do, I think you might be confusing Izanagi for Izanami. Izanami doesn't require Senju DNA. Izanagi does. Hope that answered your question.

Well technically, Madara didn't have Senju DNA when he activated it after his "death". He might have eaten it, but that doesn't mean insta Senju DNA, it just doesn't work that way.

Madara gained a portoin of Hashirama's DNA after implanting it in his wound.
