[Discussion] A possible plot hole?

I was just wondering a moment ago if senjutsu would be able to resist Izanagi, being that it's a variant of onmyouton. I was about to make a thread about it, and then something else hit me. Kabuto was in sage mode while he was hit with Izanami, which is supposedly another variant of onmyouton and can intercept Izanagi. With this in mind, shouldn't Kabuto have been able to resist it? Of course they are both genjutsus and at that, doujutsus and not a ninjutsu like onmyouton, but it's still bothering me.
