There has been a flood of virgin tears, regarding the latest chapter of our favorite Naruto. And, unfortunately, there has been very little attempt to analyse the situation. Hence this topic.
Before I start, I want to note 2 things:
1. This is my second theory, so don't expect some marvelous thesis. Criticism is welcomed but no flame/hate please.
2. This is my theory and interpretation of the current events.
So let's begin..
THE SHARINGAN
The Sharingan is a visual doujutsu, confined to the Uchiha Clan and it's members. It is considered one of the stronger visual powers in the NV and rightfully so. The user of the Sharingan has the ability to copy any jutsu, read the user's moves, predict patterns and imitate the opponent. The Sharingan differs from user to user. It is said to be a reflection of the person's soul - hence the name. The process of awakening is also not clearly stated. Most of the times it happens in the heat of battle when the user (or one of his closest companion) is in danger. As with any jutsu, it takes time to awaken it's full potential. But even at lower levels, the Sharingan consumes large amounts of chakra. The Uchiha possess such chakra reserves although prolonged usage of the Sharingan can have negative effects on their physical condition.
MANGEKYO SHARINGAN
This advanced form of the Sharingan is rare even among the Uchiha. As stated by Itachi Uchiha: in order to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan, one must kill his closest friend or loved one. This is interpreted as loosing a loved one. As such emotions trigger certain chakra in the brain which reflects on the user's eyes. The Mangekyo Sharingan comes with it's own set of abilities which also differ from user to user. Notable users:
Uchiha Itachi - Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi, Susano'o, Izanami
Uchiha Sasuke - Amaterasu, Susano'o
Uchiha Shisui - Koto Amatsukami
Uchiha Obito - Kamui
Uchiha Madara - Multiple Variations of Susano'o
The Mangekyo Sharingan puts a much greater strain on the body of the user and is considered an extremely dangerous doujutsu. If used for too long, the eyesight deteriorates and the person goes blind. This blindness can be prevented by implanting a new set of Sharingan from a close relative or clan member - thus gaining an Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan which does nto damage the eyesight.
Note: Uchiha Obito's Kamui did not seem to damage his eyesight. However it did damage Kakashi's eyesight at the Fourth Ninja War.
Non-Uchiha Users
Hatake Kakashi
I did not include Kakashi into the Uchiha list of MS users as he is not from the Uchiha Clan. He is, however, vital to this theory. He was able to sustain a Sharingan even though not being of the Uchiha Clan. He was also able to use it quite well. On top of that he awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan after killing his beloved Rin. This makes him the first Non-Uchiha to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan. Having Obito's Left Sharingan in possession, he was able to use his unique Sharingan ability - namely Kamui. Although it was extremely risky and (unlike with Obito) it put a huge strain on his physical condition and deteriorated his eyesight.
Shimura Danzo
He was able to transplant a number of Sharingan on his body and even have Shisui's right eye. It still put a lot of strain on his body and he only used the Sharingan on special occasions and for a short periods of time.
Susano'o
The Susano'o is an extremely powerful visual jutsu that lets a user's chakra manifest itself in the form of a powerful guardian. It requires a Mangekyo Sharingan to be active. This guardian serves as a shield for the user, blocking and reflecting most jutsu, while also serving as a weapon, dealing great amounts of damage. Only a handful of individuals have used Susano'o and, like the Sharingan, the Susano'o differs from user to user, appearing as an image of their inner self. Susano'o can be further developed and becomes a "Perfect Susano'o" when the potential of the individual reaches a certain level.
The Missing Link
This is the core of this theory. Kakashi, although not of the Uchiha Clan, has been able to sustain and use the Sharingan and has even activated the Susano'o. The way this could be possible is the fact that his chakra has mixed with that of an Uchiha (Obito) through the process of transplanting the Sharingan. Basically any organ from an Uchiha carries with it the person's chakra and life force. Thus Kakashi's chakra became a mixture of his original one and Obito's. So he was able to sustain and use the Sharingan, although it was still extremely risky and dangerous.
An important part is him awakening the Mangekyo Sharingan. This implies that it is possible for a Non-Uchiha to awaken the MS, provided he has a Sharingan and a part of the donor (the Uchiha counterpart) mixed with his chakra. This, combined with the strong emotions from the loss of a loved one can lead to the MS.
Following this train of thought we can assume that the non-Uchiha user can use any of the unique Mangekyo Sharingan Abilities.
Chakra Connection
Taking into account the previous statement, we can concur that the 2 individuals - the Receiver (Kakashi) and the Donor (Obito) are intricately connected through the Sharingan. Or to put it better - Obito is connected to Kakashi, having a portion of his chakra in Kakashi. This makes it possible for them to sync their Mangekyo Sharingan's ability to perfection. It could also explain how Obito was able to connect to Kakashi after his death and transfer his power. Having given Kakashi both his Mangekyo Sharingan and (possibly) his remaining chakra reserves, he was able to, albeit shortly, boost Kakashi and allow him to use Susano'o.
Note: Susano'o is not an ability or jutsu that is taught. Rather it is awakened along with the Mangekyo Sharingan. It does not require prior knowledge.
All this leads to Kakashi using Susano'o quite plausible.
Thank you for reading. Feel free to leave your comments, opinions, ideas or criticism in an orderly fashion.
