In most of the fights Naruto has fought in the manga he seems to have held back especially against Sasuke. Would it have made a difference to the outcome if he fought most of his battles with an intent to kill rather than just aiming to stop or defeat him?

I doubt that.....Against Madara i think he fought with full power.....And sakura can kick his butt anytime....

Honestly if naruto was serious about killing sasuke, he would've certainly done so. kishi knows this which is why he made sure they both started fighting in their avatar forms until they both were dead tired and low on chakra. cause he knows naruto would simply whip this on sasuke. i like sasuke, but i can't defend him stopping this. his susanoo isn't that durable and even if it were, naruto could still keep pumping out flank attacks with his rasengen attacks until sasuke tires out from all the bombardments.

Asborbing chakra from someone and asborbing attacks is two different thing. Sasuke hasnt absorbed any attacks with his rinnegan nd even if he could he only has one hand and can only absorb one attack at a time which means he gets negged!!!

I don't think it's a stretch to say Sasuke has moves specifically designed to counter large volumes of people.
Enton Bullets.
Chidori Senbon.
Amenojikara.
I wouldn't reccommend a clone spam strategy against him, let alone a clone rasengan strategy, considering he could put up a preta barrier, or absorb it through his PS, which would drain Naruto.
Give it a rest, they're dead equals no matter how you slice it.
