The Fanfic, is not based on a true story, but the main character is based on me. It's an alternate universe Fanfic, but I hope you like it, it does contain romance.
What if it were possible.....?
I am on the other side of the country from where I was raised, and not happy with life. As I road in the beige car with my mother, I could only remember one thing, life is unfair.
My mother rolled down the window to avert the cigarette smoke from lingering in her car. Her grey hair still had some very dark brown patches that blended with the rest of hair as it blew with the breeze. It was a quiet drive along the interstate. Only one red car angerly honked his horn as he was cut off by another car that almost collided with him, the driver didn’t pay attention to the road, and was swerving in the lines.
We made our way past him, and I turned my head just in time to notice a cop car waiting for his prey, but the driver turned off on the exit before the cop could pull out and catch him. The cop gave a glare to me as we strode by, I shuddered.
“It is time for a new start, Hitomi. Your life doesn’t end just because….”
“I know, I get it,” I snapped before she could finish her sentence. I only wanted to tune into the music until we got to the casino, Wild Dragon Pass. Yes, I am over the age of 21, legally able to drink…. Or I was. Until the judge said otherwise. My charges weren’t an offense of drunken dumbness, but it was standard with all those who were out of jail, or at least I thought so, as that had nothing to do with my crime.
We pulled into an open parking space between a motorcycle and a little Honda. I pulled my casino card out as mother pulled open the door. My mom stumbled upon a machine that was cheap and gave a lot of free spins in the corner by Z Lounge. “I’ll be here if you need me.” Mom is big into gambling, her luck and odds of winning are great.
Me on the other hand, I have no coordination, and flat out no luck. I watched the lights flash above me at the top of the machine as my $20 had vanished. This isn’t as bad as yesterday, I lost $200 and that was not good because I have no job to replace it, and still have to pay the probation fees.
I wandered around aimlessly. A group of people who looked like they all came from Mexico, were screaming with excitement as the stocky man in the chair pressed the button. Another win. The number increased in big bold letters on the top screen of his machine. I turned and walked past a bar, that had an open area in front of it. I could feel some of the strange looks I was given while I stared at one big TV above the bar. It was showing a football game.
I turned around to say something to the man standing behind me…. There wasn’t anyone around. I looked around and people were all gathered around the machines. The bartender gave a wink in my direction. He was an attractive man with short dark hair, but he couldn’t catch my interest, I was still heart broke and only into my anime crush right now, I wouldn’t be hurt this way.
This walk around the casino took awhile as I looked for mom, who I couldn’t find through all the different machines giving music and people talking at one another because it was hard to hear. I sat outside and waited. Hours later I was met by mom. She showed me the slip from her machine. It was another big win for her. Although she usually puts it all back in the machine, this was a rare time when she didn’t.
…………………
I lay in my bed wondering about what I missed while I wasn’t here. I turned on my laptop to look up my favorite anime and manga, Naruto. Another new episode…. Wait that’s a filler. I sighed. No more on the back story of Indra and Ashura. What type of jutsus did they have?
I looked at the clock on the desktop. It read 1:56am. I shut off my laptop and rested my head on my pillow…. I still had to stand before the judge one last time and my lawyer will still have to put up with me until then. Not allowed to return to the scene of the crime, another rule for those out on probation. I am one of those, and no contact with witnesses, but It’s not like I wanted to return or had any reason to, and there was no one who witnessed the crime that I would even want to talk to, or have contact with at all.
Drifting off into a slumber, I was daydreaming of my anime crush from the series Naruto…. Sasuke Uchiha. The thing was he married Sakura and had a daughter, I read up on it after I was released on pretrial services. Okay, so my heart was broke by Sasuke too, but still he wasn’t real and if he was I wouldn’t be his top pick, I needed to get over him as much as needed to get over…. Maybe I shouldn’t even think of him now. I closed my eyes and rolled to my other side. The room was hazy, my eyes were shut tight as my tired body finally took control of my overactive mind, making it just as tired.
I wasn’t someone who people would stop, stare and think she's attractive, usually if they did they were drunk, and couldn’t think straight. My face wasn't really pretty, I was just plain. Skinny, with average sized breasts and an average body, and appearance. My hair is naturally light brown or dark blonde, it depends whose looking. I wore bangs across my forehead like in childhood and my hair was just past my shoulder blades with a slight wave. These eyes are a grey, blue sometimes green color and my skin is fair. Just average, is all I ever was.
I was falling asleep, or maybe I was asleep. In the corner of my room was the shadow of a man, spiky hair, tall, a high collar on his shirt, a sword sheathed by his side… Sasuke… it looked like while the light from the headlights of a car passing by shined through the window, giving a glimpse of him. I drifted out of consciousness into a deep sleep.
I awoke the next morning thinking I read to many twilight books in jail when I remembered the dream I had of Sasuke standing in my room. Sasuke had looked just as tired as I felt that night, he had a blueish color under his eyes.
I'm supposed to go eat with my father at the bar this morning. It’s okay as long as I don’t consume any alcohol, which I wouldn’t have anyways, I don’t drink much and have only been drunk maybe 5 times in my life. I swear I’m a good girl, I’m sure the judge and others would believe that despite the stripes I wore for the past 6 months…. Okay, I was a good girl, but I doubt anyone would believe that now after the crime was committed. I can’t return to the scene of the crime, not like I wanted to.
Dad and I didn’t really spend to much time at the bar, he ate before we got there and I only had french toast, with ham and potatoes. It was a special this bar had an Sundays for veterans.
I was drug tested and I know it came back clean. My life was boring and not getting back together, but my life was never coming together anyways.
Again, my mother and I were back at the casino. She hit big, the music on her machine began to play circus music and the visual on the screen was showing coins scatter from a giant gold frog. I took a walk through the casino, which I always do after I lose, like every night lately…. A man walked in, holding something black in his hand, he looked the type who I had seen while I was at court, the guy in the stripes (like we all wore) that was bald, lanky and needed to shave.
Some people began to scream and jump back. I couldn’t figured out why…. The man lifted the black thing and I took a step closer to figure out what was going on, I couldn’t really see without my glasses and with my tired eyes. The man turned toward me and pointed in my direction with that black thing.
“Come one step closer and I’ll shoot,” his calm voice made it hard for me to register what was happening, until I did the math…. It was a gun and I was right in the middle of a shooting, or about to be shooting. The rising panic that started in my gut was then turned into a sudden numbness that froze me in place. The women ran grabbing there husband’s arms and pulling them out the glass doors into the parking lot. Others hid behind the gambling machines while some pulled out their phones, the cops were being called by numerous people. This didn’t stop the man from aiming at me. I was quiet, and out of things that could be said to anyone. Mother was in the bathroom and probably oblivious of what was going on as she was most likely focusing on her constipation.
“I wasn’t doing anything!” I made an attempt at bargaining for my safety.
With a quick flick or his wrist….
A gun shot. But it wasn’t him. A cop had shot at the homicidal man without warning. Another yelled “freeze!” And then it was sudden I felt a sharp pain in my chest, was I shot? I looked down but there was no bullet wound. The pain intensified, and my vision was taken over by darkness. No longer standing I could feel myself fall, that was the last thing that happened.
………….
I was still lying on the ground. It was so dark. A voice that sounded of wisdom came clear with saying, ”I doubt your bravery could have changed such a disastrous consequence.”
I looked up slowly, a man with a long beard, and he was floating in front of me. “Bravery?! I didn’t go after that man! I was trying to see what he was doing.”
He gave a look to me that was intense but also amused. He glared at me, and was staring at me, looking down and then to the top of my head.
“This isn’t the casino…. It’s to dark.” All I could see was the man in front of me, all else was black. Slowly I moved closer to this old man who was wise beyond his years. My foot hit the ground with one step in his direction, a white water like ripple came from the placement of my foot. Quickly my foot moved away from the ground. I was testing and amazed by such a strange thing.
The wrinkles on his face creased deeper with his smirk. The look I gave him was misunderstood. “You are simple in your mind, you haven’t even begun to appreciate such a divine intervention that interrupted your soon to arise fatal dilemma.” When he noticed I had nothing to say his smile grew wider. He lifted his white collar up higher making a statement. “You are quite oblivious. My kimono should provide you with insight to whom I am.” He was leaving hints, but I wouldn’t understand what this dream was about, it felt so real.
“ Your concept of what is reality will have to be altered greatly.” Still confused by the experience, I watch him tap his staff in front of me creating more white ripples. “I am Hagoromo…..” he paused, “And I speculate you are in disbelief. I am the Sage of the Six Paths. Here to give you back what is necessary…. Or rather to give you another will.”
My dream was really cool. I wonder what else could happen.
“I am granting you your life. To put it simply, you will not die as was intended not only by that man who entered without dignity to murder, but as was your bodies own discretion. Your heart had failed.” He knew what he was doing and what he was talking about.
He tapped his staff on my forehead. In his mind there was no need to explain any further. A sudden flash of light…..
……………..
Sleep. A deep sleep with a really twisted but cool dream. Waking up now, maybe I’ll sleep in. The bed is stiffer but not uncomfortable. A noise in the background was starting with small quiet feminine voices. The blankets were pulled off my head. The girl standing in front of me had brown hair loosely tied back in a ponytail with almost clear eyes that had no pupils. The look was familiar but I can’t come to that conclusion, it’d be more likely she was a blind girl.
“Hitomi wake up! We’re supposed to train today. And Hinata shouldn’t be kept waiting. “ Hitomi wasn’t my actual name, it was my nickname. I got up understanding I was in another place, and began to just go along with it.
The girl ran out as I stood up. The bed was on the floor and the room looked like an Asian type of room. I looked around and found a mirror. I didn’t look like me at all. My breasts had to be two cup sizes bigger and my hair was a black color with a purple tint. My hair was just below my butt. Those eyes staring back at me were the same as the other girls.
I took my hair threw into a ponytail and left my bangs out. I was amazed and stood there stunned at what had happened. After my sudden change in appearance, I still looked ordinary, not a beautiful mistress, but just plain without even appearing attractive, just average. I don’t have time to waste. I had to just go along with what was happening and figure out things later.
I grabbed a kimono like garment in blue and a faded jeans. The sandals I slid into were blue and actually comfortable. I ran out the door looking for that girl. She stood in the hall and motioned for me to follow her. Outside in the courtyard stood a girl with long dark hair holding a shy expression in her posture. I looked down and walked toward her.
She bowed to me and I assumed I had to do the same. She didn’t hesitate, and took on a fighting stance, gentle first style.
“ You need practice Hitomi,” the shy girl, I assumed was Hinata stated. “You shouldn’t hold back and skip training.”
She came at me and I had not taken on a fighting stance. I didn’t know how to fight. She spun in a circle and her hands had a blue glow that took on the shape of lion heads. Both hands hit my chest, the sensation of the blue energy was a wave of pain and I was flying backward before I could protect myself. I automatically flipped backward and landed on my feet.
“How did I do that?” I questioned under my breath. I have no coordination.
“Hitomi fight your sister.” A man’s voice said. The man stood there with his arms crossed. The veins around his eyes stood out.
I don’t have a sister. “Hinata, “ I said now knowing I was awake and this wasn’t a dream. She was the real Hinata Hyuga, and that made the other girl Hinabi, and the man their father. “I can’t fight. I don’t know how.” With this being real life, I wouldn’t have guessed to be here in this place. It's an anime, a manga, just a story, but some way some how I was here in this place and it was as real as anything else I was used to in my life.
“You must still not have recovered after the accident. Your head was hit very hard after that battle. “ Hinata's father turned and walked away, “You need more rest Hitomi. Until you can fight again.”
What battle!? “You're right father.” I replied to Hinata's dad. He wasn’t my father, but I had to respond accordingly. I couldn’t just protest that I wasn’t his daughter, and was from another place.
Hinata said my name softly and her eyes filled with sadness. She was older, like she was after her and Naruto started dating.
I didn’t take time to look at Hinata long. Her appearance was clear as day light, an exact look of Hinata Hyuga, but she was Hinata Hyuga, the real Hinata Hyuga. This was a lot to take in, this place a real Asian, Japanese looking house. The plants outside, just like the plants where I was from, the floors are a real wood, and the walls were made from a real bamboo, just it was all real, not fake, not an anime or a manga.
Just all real and that was such a shock. I couldn’t have anyone notice my state of shock, with the fact of the manga being real, or they could or rather would ask about it. And in a ninja type place there are bitter secrets, and most likely something major going on. I can’t react or give anything away until I can be sure or trust, anyone or anything for that matter.
I took my shocked state self and ran. I ran back into the house before my mouth could run off with questions of how this happened, where am I, and does me being in this world some how alter the Naruto manga and anime, and how could it possibly be real, and I'm in it, right in it. How could I hide my shock? I walked into the room I knew was mine and laid down trying to sleep again.
A knock on the door, “Hitomi your boyfriend is here.” I could make out that was Hinata’s voice, but who was my boyfriend? Still shocked, I had to pull myself together and know what was going on, or act like I did.
The door slid open and a man with the hidden leaf village headband came in. His eyes had lines under them and his hair was dark, pulled back in a loose ponytail. “Itachi?” I questioned. He should be dead by now and not here in what I was sure was the hidden leaf village.
“It’s good to see you Hitomi. After your accident. “ He approached me and leant down next to me. Seeing Itachi for the first time in person, wasn’t easy. In the anime and manga their faces are perfect, flawless. It’s like seeing a celebrity up close and not in a photoshopped image on a magazine. His face was as handsome as ever still.
At least I have a boyfriend. “Hitomi this is sudden but….” He looked like he was trying to find the right words to say. “I'm……. Breaking up with you.” He didn’t make an angry face, his face was expressionless.
“huh….? Why?” I replied, stunned by his sudden break up. I only just found out I had a boyfriend and it’s already over?! I missed the whole thing, of dating someone, and it was Itachi Uchiha.
“Hitomi I know this is hard for you to hear. I have found another, and I love her dearly.” He smiled. By the look on my face he knew what I would’ve asked next. “Sakura Haruno.”
How? She ends up with Sasuke. This must mean my presence altered this anime/manga greatly. Sadness filled me. “I’m sorry, Hitomi it’s over.” Without another word he walked out.
Lost and confused I went back to sleep. I had to of been asleep for only a dreamless hour when another knock on my door occurred. “Hitomi! Hitomi!!” Naruto’s English dubbed voice screeched. Standing up, I quickly tripped over my uncoordinated feet and was caught by Naruto whose impatience had him already opening the door and standing in my room. “Hey look, I thought we’d hang out sometime. I heard you need help with your training.” Don’t tell me he isn’t with Hinata like in the manga and likes me instead.
“What about Hinata?” I insisted.
“I'm going out with her on a date to Ichiroku's tonight, ya know,“ He had a wide, big grin on his face. So they were dating, I concluded.
“Oh good, I knew she liked you, I just was worried that you had changed your mind. And that’s my little sister, you break her heart and I break your face. I was almost worried you liked me instead.” I made a bold statement of what I would think, if I had a younger sibling. Not like I could actually take on Naruto but it seemed fitted to be a protective older sister. I was also relieved to know Naruto was still with Hinata.
“Like you? Your just plain and not really even pretty. And besides Hinata is bigger than you,” Naruto put his hands on his chest making a motion of grabbing breasts. He impulsively stated his thoughts without concern of my feelings, and not in a mean voice, but a practical one.
I gave him a glare and placed my hands on my hips. Trying to look confident, but I am not and usually am not. I looked down.
Naruto read the insecurity off my subtle movement. “But hey, I guess that doesn’t matter anyways. It’s what’s inside that counts.” His smile faded and he placed one hand behind his head. “So are we going to train or what? I wanted to challenge you after I heard about your new jutsu.” He be came excited and eager for a battle.
“Um…. Naruto..I….I can’t fight, I don’t know how to, at all.” He narrowed his eyes like he wanted to figure something out.
“You can’t fight? But how are you supposed to go on missions?”
“I can't, I guess that battle took out my memory,” I said. Whatever battle I had been in must have been a really intense battle, I wonder who I fought and what happened.
“I could train you anyways. Just start from scratch. Ya know, start at the basics,” He was slowly easing me to his wishes. He loved to train and with other people.
“Naruto….. Fine I’ll go with you but be gentle on me, I can’t really fight.” I had changed my mind and would go.
“Ya know for not being able to fight you sure made a big statement, but I suppose that’s what sisters or brothers do.” He thought of Sasuke as a brother, I could see he was referring to that. With a gentle smile he added, “Hinata’s your older sister, anyways.” I slightly opened my mouth and was mesmerized. I didn’t realize I was her younger sister. “But you’re older than Hinabi, in case you forgot.”
“Naruto lets go, before I change my mind.” He nodded his head as I started to walk out.
