I was reading a part of the manga to understand a jutsu for training when I stumbled upon a sentence Minato spoke.

So the seal, when thrown, allows Minato, who is a sensor already, to sense when the seal (kunai+seal) is in the air or when it is thrown? What exactly was he able to sense? Chakra or the motion caused by the seal? How do you think he was able to sense something like that from an inanimate object? Do you think there is a better explanation for this?

i think when the kunai is thrown the movement is picked up by the seal then transfers that movement to minato allowing him to sense when it is thrown.

maybe he sense anything thats within them like "daredevil in marvel" i dont know :shrug: but he said that again when he teleported the TBB "i must find a safe place to blah blah" he knew that theres no one there maybe thats helps him use FTG since he can sense where and what he do when he teleports or else he cant select where he teleports coz he had a lot of kunais or mark all over the place,,,how does he choose if he cant sense where they are :shrug:

This ^^ and Minato is not a sensory type ninja he can detect enemy's presence but he is not a sensor.

I guess when a human flesh is not touching it and the kunai crosses a certain speed, the seal is activated which alerts Minato

Its just a mistranslation... Minato can't sense danger.

This is the Viz translations:

Minato: Hm... You're awake...

Kakashi: Master!! But how?!

Minato: The jutsu formula in this kunai knife sets a mark, allowing me to quickly hop around with my transportation technique.

Kakashi: And the... enemy?

Minato: I dealt with all of them...

Basically, Kakashi was simply asking how Minato was able to get to him so fast, and Minato explains that he can teleport to any of his seals instantly with his space time jutsu. That is all.
If Minato could sense danger, Obito would still be alive (since him and Kakashi were in danger).

Minato can sense all of his kunais at any time, and has knowledge of their position. He has to know this in order for him to be able to choose the location where he wants to teleport.

About that seal alerting him, it's hard to tell, we didn't see Kakashi throw the kunai, or use it in any special way... he just grabbed it and then the next panel shows him with Minato.
I think Minato can either sense when the kunai is thrown, or when it is somehow used in battle.

That kunai was a gift for Kakashi, I think it was made for his protection. It probably did some chakra stuff and Minato FTG'ed to Kakashi and as for those rock nin, he F'ed them up
