As a Hindu and someone of East Indian decent I have a special liking for Sakura’s ( also Mito and Tsunade’s) Yin Seal. Seeing a part of my religion and culture being utilized in a popular manga that i read is really an amazing feeling. Additionally it is used by my favourite characters. Bindis can take many different shapes, one of which is a diamond!

The fact that the bindi is used to retain energy (store chakra), strengthen concentration and as a form of protection has always led me to believe that, aside from the jutsu we have already seen from it, there are so many other possible, mystical and potent potential jutsus.

RETAINING AND STORING ENERGY:

One feature of the bindi is its facilitation of the retention and storage of spiritual energy. This is the most blatant similarity between the Yin seal and the bindi as the Yin seal does the same thing, it retains and stores chakra.

PROTECTION:

As previously mentioned protection is another characteristic of the bindi. As we all know the byakugo no jutsu deals with regeneration and tsunade.sakura also are medics with the yin seal facilitating their mass healing/ remote healing. I.e. the Yin seal protects these women as well as gives them strength and the power to protect others.

It should also be noted that one of Sakura’s emphasised characteristics is her desire to protect the ones she loves, mainly sasuke and naruto. So i think this protection she adorns herself with is perfectly suited to be the source of her power.

FOCUS/ SPIRITUAL CONTROL/ THIRD EYE:

The chakra control and focus required to use this seal is often coupled with users having GREAT POTENTIAL for illusionary techniques dealing with the mind/ GENJUTSU (Sakura). In addition they are both intelligent and highly analytical persons.

This brings me to the Third eye ; the gate that leads to higher spiritual consciousness and which is now associated with the evocation of mental images with strong psychological effect.

Also the Yin Seal allows for both Sakura and Tsunade to transfer energy to Katsuyu. It should be noted that Katsuyu is TELEPATHICALLY connected to the seal and can access the power on its own without being touched by the women. This is the only case of summonings doing such a thing.

ALL THIS CAN BE ASSOCIATED WITH THE THIRD EYE’S PROFOUND, SPIRITUAL AND MENTAL PROPERTIES.

THE MARRIED WOMAN:

It is also a symbol of a married woman and signifies the woman’s commitment and membership in the institution of marriage. Whether NS or SS, Sakura’s seal, to me, would hint at her dedication, love, commitment and pride as a married woman. To me, this just reinforces Sakura’s personality and her determination, compassion and selflessness in love. Naruto or Sasuke are lucky guys! :D (So was Hashirama)

Just to make mention, Tsunade is characterised by her love for dan and the strength her love gave her to try to never lose again and develop her healing powers further (yin seal- creation rebirth/strength of 100).

Additionally we all know about Mito’s LOVE. She told kushina about the importance of love and filling one’s life with it. Despite being kurama’s jin, i believe she, herself, was already a powerful, loving committed married woman. She exemplified the married woman with her grace, love and determination to help her husband hashirama. (As seen in her procuring kurama and sealing it within herself).

AUSPICIOUS BINDI:

It is because of the Bindi’s auspiciousness that I personally believe Slug Sage Mode ( a spiritual/physical/natural and personal transformation) and powerful genjutsu can be awakened ( strong, focused, skilled mind).

MY FINAL SAY:

I may be reading too much into things and misunderstanding Kishimoto but for me, the religious significance of the bindi and Sakura/Tsunade’s role as medics, their jutsu and the requirements of the seal fit perfectly together. They heal, protect others, are intelligent and have perfect focus and chakra control, reaching the pinnacle by forming their seals.

The bindi can be used to decorate the entire forehead just as the seal stretches across the forehead when initially released.

Okami, please be nice.
Anyways it is interesting, it isn't like I never thought about it, but it was refreshing to read it from someone else's point of view, especially because you are a new user and expressed it in your own style.^_^

It was a nice read and learning something new here. It is really interesting that they can be related to the bindis and I never knew anything about bindi until today.

Thank you. I really tried to make it as interesting and simple as possible, without reaching and over analysing.

Way to go, fool. You just promoted the f a g who was disrespecting someone's religion for no reason whatsoever.

Fool? Really? The way you dissent on the forum is with calm words rather than throwing out disrespectful slurs. Eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. Further if you feel a grievance is particularly strong, then you negative rep them. However, posting on a thread just to insult another member violates several rules of the site, and honestly it only encourages a flame war which leads to more disrespect. Thus, the best solution is a discreet one. And using slurs such as the f word is just about as hateful as making fun on someone's religion. So good going buddy.

Now OT
Because I'm not particularly familiar with the Hindu faith, I've never made the connection between the Byakugou Seal and the Bendi, but it was really cool to see the coorelations. But can you expand on how you made the link between the Bendi and the possibility of Slug Sage Mode?
