I haven't watched the filler episodes since the one where Tenten saved the village but I've been
hearing that the filler episodes have just been tedious, annoying and crappy lately. Plus Studio
Pierrot have decided to pull this shit right before Kaguya's debut to the series. There have been
good fillers in the past and God knows that they won't stop milking the series any time soon.

So I was just wondering what everyone's ideal filler would be at this point?

For me, I would like a filler episode where they show the one month training Sasuke had with Kakashi
before the final part of the Chuunin exams. To this day, it stil baffles me how Sasuke learned the chidori
and was able to do training intense enough to match Rock Lee's speed without ankle weights which took
him a couple years to achieve

Show us the dreams, because Infinite Tsukiyomi is NOT a bad premise for a filler arc. Just, expand- don't use it as a lazy excuse to show us unrelated stuff. Tenten's dream was a good example. Using the foundation of the manga panel we saw of Neji being alive & Guy/Lee being handsome, they created a scenario around it where she finally felt appreciated. And that was great for her character. Similar things should've been done for every dream.

Shino's dream? Bikochi Beetle-like setup. Hinata's dream? Neji, loving Naruto and explore the Hyuuga clan these days. Kiba's dream? Show us another 'Kiba's Determination' style episode. Bee's dream was AMAZING and was a Jinchuuriki-led homage to Seven Samurai. Basically...it can be done well, but then Pain & Shikamaru? Jiraiya's book? It's fallen apart.

Karin's dream, Suigetsu's Ninja Swordsmen in a c t i o n. Kabuto's dream dear god show us OROCHIMARU'S DREAM. TELL US WHAT'S GOING ON IN THAT HEAD bc Kishi never bothered to explain. Give us something new, expand on the manga's weaknesses. That's what filler has done in the past and been great at. AND THEN. HAVE IT CONTRIBUTE TO THE STORY. Explore more of their backgrounds and what they REALLY want as people not as cardboard cut-outs. Plus there is no indication that any of this is wrong- there should be an inkling that what is happening is artificial and wrong.

Example:
The likes of Team Asuma should've been in their shallow dreams (as shown) before Shikamaru realises that speaking to his dad and Asuma is wrong- and that it ruins the concept of the Will of Fire- which starts an internal crisis as to what he REALLY wants, realising he isn't in reality and that this 'perfect dreamworld' is morally wrong. Chouji and Ino similarly realising that they aren't these shallow people anymore and that they've grown, questioning their own thoughts and life goals.

This would be a perfect time for the flaws of the K11 to come into fruition: Hinata REALISES she needs to be more than just a Naruto love machine, Kiba REALISES his headstrong nature & that he probably won't make Hokage etc etc. Remember Obito's time in the Tsuki no Me? That was artificial, it felt fake wrong and unnatural before turning nasty- not to mention some of Kishimoto's BEST writing ever.

They begin to break free of it's spell on them and through their knowledge that the dreamworld isn't right, Kaguya's connection to her chakra is weakened, allowing for Naruto and Sasuke to pull the win.

Doesn't that seem better, honestly? I was annoyed but unsurprised that the manga didn't follow this direction but the anime has the perfect opportunity to do this and it's just failed us again.

I had to agree with you there. I usually enjoyed fillers because I appreciate new content that kishi failed to deliver as well they done some characters some justice.

Technically "a good filler" is an oxymoron, but short filler arcs have been more tolerable than long ones, as long as they limit the characters to canon ones.

Actually, the current arc IS a good one. I really like how they rearrange the set-pieces we all know in a new way (like Minato and Kushina still alive, the Uchiha clan still present...). I have no idea where this arc is going, and I am looking forward to it every week.

I generally like the longer filler arcs more than short stories that only take up 1-3 episodes. The longer arcs have time and substance to actually develop a plot.
