Hi all,

I started writing up a long winded thread yesterday based on a topic that's fairly irrelevant (Itachi/Minato), however due to my fairly busy life I was distracted by a phone call from a friend which subsequently ended in a fairly long drinking session jam packed with banter, wit and cigarettes.

I came back in the early hours of this morning to a computer that had timed out and as a result, a wasted thread. Needless to say I have my greatest wave of creative ideas when I'm hungover.

"What if there was a way to save the threads that you haven't finished so you could get back to finishing them later"

I think it would be pretty helpful function and I hope others agree. Please consider this idea for implementation on Narutobase.

Many thanks

There is its called the copy paste function you should have just saved it to a word doc or something.
Seth 42,

Please don't take offence to this, but I'm not an idiot.
Thankyou for your contribution though

They have a auto-save. >_> You would just have to copy and paste and save to notes. u_u
Perhaps I wasn't clear enough in the OP. The idea behind this function would be similar to saving drafts in your email accounts and getting back to them in a separate folder.

NB doesn't have a function like this.

Do you understand?

in your User CP there is a notepad. You can try that?

Also, not sure if this would work. You could send yourself a PM.

No NarutoBase does not have that feature nor is it necessary as the two mentioned by Seth and Kichiro are already in place. The only other option is to save your work via Notepad or Word (or some of its derivatives). I understand what you are trying to say and I didn't misunderstand you. It isn't a possibility right now with the amount of members we have and those that would actually use it. Thank you for the suggestion though.

I speak from experience and sound logic.
You speak as if you have a say in the implementation of a function or functions like this.
While you may think you have a logical opinion on it, in terms of hierarchy you are the same as me.

I'm glad you contributed, but you have no right to dismiss my suggestion in any way.

I didn't dismiss your suggestion. I merely said it was unnecessary. As for the "say in the implementation of a function or functions", it has been discussed before and the answer I provided you is what was the consensus.

If enough members think it's a good idea, and the staff think it seems good enough they will take it up with the admins and the admins will talk it over.

Everyone is deemed to their own opinion.
They have an auto-save feature here, and if that doesn't work for you use a notepad or pastebin, they do the trick either way. As said above, the notes in Usercp work just as well also, with the large amount of members they Base has, your suggestion may slow it down either way. I'm not 'dismissing' your suggestion before you say that. Just saying what I'm thinking.

Hi Nathan,

the sentence boded is a direct dismissal of the thread and closes all possibility

You're post is written more from a members perspective, which is much more acceptable.

That is because that is the truth. Either way you paint the picture, you can't escape the fact that what you are asking can already be achieved through your notes, auto-save, your PM inbox, or notepad. What more do you seek?

Thank you for your opinion Devation,

I'm sure the admins appreciate you doing their job for them. Especially with your insight and clear access to all the demographics and statistics that only they would be able to see.

The admins would thank him. This idea is not the greatest to be honest. We have note pads. We have VM walls where you can VM yourself the thread. PM. Maybe don't go getting drunk and leaving your computer on, knowing that your computer will time out?

I agree. There is no way this is happening.

This is a fairly good idea, it has happened to me once or twice as well, but generally the auto save, saves my butt, so in my opinion this isn't needed. There are simpler more viable options that won't slow the server^^

There is the auto save thingy, if your thread that was being made was long enough and was made over a longer period of time unlike regular replies, auto-save will save it every few minutes. If you leave the browser, go back to where you would post the thread and/or reply and the "Restore Auto-Save content" should appear in the lower left corner of the reply box.

I think that's how it works. xD

I always have a notepad file open I copy and paste into every once in a while. I like it better than word because sometimes word can be stupid and slow.

Damn metronomy soloed low dif
Indeed,
I'm about to give the same treatment to the poster below...

The admins would thank him.
I think enough assumptions have been made for the team of people that have spent a lot time on the marketing, communications and administration of the site, regardless of this it's important to remember that you, much like Deviation aren't part of this team. Even if for some very strange reason you may think because you are active in the role play part of the forums you think have more insight to the demographics of the site or that you feelings are closer to the believes of people that have control over what goes on the site, then you wrong. The reality is you are the same as every one else, just more closed minded and maybe a little more arrogant.

This idea is not the greatest to be honest.
And your argument is...

We have note pads. We have VM walls where you can VM yourself the thread PM.
So you think repeating the same thing that 4 + members have stated is an argument worthy of backing up the statement you have made against this thread? I didn't respond the use of notes or PM ING that heavily because not only did I know they we're alternatives in place, it's because I thought they we're not very good answers to the problem. They're more a less poor and longer adaption methods. It's understandable that people would mention them, however to repeat them as a back up to your bold statement deeming this a "bad Idea" is probably the consequence of a lack of innovation and communication skills.

Re-reading the OP, I've recognized that I haven't done enough to communicate why a save thread function would be a good Idea myself. I was under the impression that this Idea would be accepted by reasonable and open minded members, 24 posts in and It's evident that I'm not dealing with these members.

Perhaps It would be to bad to get some ideology as oppose to conservatism

don't go getting drunk and leaving your computer on, knowing that your computer will time out?
Don't you dare dictate to me what I should do in my life.
I have one.

We all believe that such a function is not necessary. Instead, please, save it on your computer and then copy paste in threads.

Thank you.

Yes, we do appreciate people who know what they are talking about and help the site out. We also appreciate people who come up with good suggestions even if it's not possible to implement them for technical reasons or otherwise.

There is no need to be rude towards other members just because they do not support your ideas. If you are making a thread then there is always a chance that some people will not agree with you or support the same cause. You have a choice to not respond and ignore it if you have nothing to say except making personal attacks.

If you do not want others to give their opinion you shouldn't be making a thread but contact an admin directly about it.
