Kishi showed some character development of orocnimaru yet again....firstly we see minato addressing him as "orochimaru san" which shows he respected him, secondly oro told minato that he shoukdn't underestimate him. We have also seen oro ADMIT that edo tensei shouldn't have been created inspite of the fact that he himself used it before against hiruzen.....and he also told tobirama that the latter's political measures have created a lot of trouble in the village....he also seemed to understand everything about what should not have happened with the uchiha clan....somehow i can see a new version of orochimaru here, a more understanding, mature and rational person, not just confined to his personal goals but also showing concern about the village's history.....what do you guys think?

I don't think he'll turn good, but I do think we will see a different side of him. The reason why Orochimaru is evil is because he doesn't have the capacity to feel emotion. However he does understand what is right and wrong.

I think that he understood everything right from the start but his goals are still the same.

Thoughtful post...

I suppose this is the a turning point. Snake man could be on the path to redemption. Or he may just be feigning his new stance and projecting sympathy for the Uchiha plight for Sasuke's sake and setting the boy up for the body snatch that has been years in the making.

His sadistic attitude was presumably due to the death of his parents. At some point after losing them, Orochimaru found a white snake near his parents' grave, with Hiruzen explaining that it represents fortune and rebirth inspiring Orochimaru to study kinjutsu and obtain knowledge of all techniques. Jiraiya theorised that Orochimaru went down this path in an attempt to forget his painful memories.
