Ok so follow me on this one.
We know Big Mom has the powers of the Soul Soul Fruit. We've heard Pound say she ate the fruit but never heard when or saw it happen in her flashbacks. What we did see is her eat the current user of the fruit and then develop the powers.
This leads to one logical conclusion. You can gain DF powers by eating the previous user. Now it sounds completely absurd, sure, but what evidence is there that this is not the case at least in Big Mom's case.
This might not be the only instance of this action either. Let's not forget BB somehow managed to obtain the Quake Quake fruit without eating the fruit itself and most people rule out the DF stealing knife theory.
If true, the question then becomes what's the limit?
It appears to me the eating would have to result in death or occur right before death, though it's possible BB ate something like a heart resulting in WB finally passing(I know they said he was dead when they covered him but his body could have been shutting down but still just barely alive, anyway) Say if you ate a piece of someone and they stayed alive it wouldn't steal their powers and grant them to you.
Also on the note of Big Mom and how she got her powers. When she ate Carmel, Carmel had already made a flame "homie" named Pandora. I can't find anything showing Big Mom create her flame Homie Prometheus. Do you think there's a chance Prometheus is really Pandora and he was "revived" for a lack of better words when Carmel's powers re-awoke in Big Mom?
