Let's think of Sasuke's case and compare it to Naruto's case. Naruto was born with something that made people hate him, Kurama. Sasuke was born into the Uchiha, so he, willingly or not, carries the curse of hatred on his shoulders, and the older people in the series, like Danzo, hate Sasuke. Naruto and Sasuke are both disliked because of WHAT they are. But, Naruto got people to like because of WHO he is, people liked Sasuke, because of WHAT he is, and in the end, they( his fangirls, Sakura, Ino, etc.) didn't know just how cursed Sasuke was being born an Uchiha.
The burden that came with WHAT Sasuke is unfortunately, ended up shaping WHO he is, and now people dislike him for both WHAT and WHO he is. Both Sasuke and Naruto were born products of their ancestors conflicts, which I don't think is fair but its what happened. Naruto and Sasuke were, as kids, lonely guys. Naruto started out lonely, so it made him happy to see someone else like him. Remember what Gaara said, "Perhaps even the companionship on an evil person is preferable to lonliness." Sasuke, on the other hand lost everything.
We can agree that losing something close to you distances you from trying to getting close to anyone. Because Sasuke had that emptiness, he constantly searched for revenge to fill the void, to right what was wronged. In a sense Itachi did to Sasuke what Minato did to Naruto: that is, they scarred them with the hopes that would one day be revered as heroes, which would ultimately end the Uchiha/Senju family feud. However, because Sasuke, having gotten his revenge, was once again empty, he could be filled with anything else. Remember Kakashi told Sasuke, "If you take revenge, all you will be left with is emptiness." So Obito luckily got to Sasuke first and filled him up with a desire for revenge, however, now that Itachi has implanted some pessimism in Sasuke once again, Sasuke is now looking for more knowledge this time around instead of just blindly wanting revenge.
I think there is still hope for Sasuke and Naruto to end the Senju/Uchiha feud. We all see that Minato's hopes for Naruto have been fufilled, we just need Sasuke to open his eyes( lol get it?) and searching for "The Ones Who Know Everything" is a step in the right direction. To conclude, Naruto's and Sasuke's paths have been synched since the beginning, they both were products of a generational family feud, they were both hoped to be heroes to the leaf and they were misguided at one point. It's not too late in the series for something big to happen, remember, Naruto inherited desire for love to achieve peace, has enabled to change the hearts of several villains who were colder and more fargone that Sasuke.
Feedback, constructive and not so constructive criticism is much appreciated and taken with equal consideration. Thanks!
