8th gate is neither fire nor air

7th gate uses air pressure without the fire. Fire can't ignite in humid steam which explains why Hirudora is not flame but air pressure.

I get the feeling the 8th gate will use neither but something entirely new. Perhaps a form of radiant energy? A type of lighting?

Fascinating points,

the most impressive affect I can imagine, is that Gai's body is so hot that his blood escapes in a gaseous form and when Gai punches he heats up the surrounding gas into plasma- sending projectile missiles made out of plasma.

-btw for those not calced minded- superheated gas ( plasma) can travel near light speeds, and a bolt of plasma the size of a fist can easily destroy/melt multiple cities. --
