8th gate Gai is immune to Genjutsu or Kamui

Not all genjutsu is seal based and higher level genjutsu is going to need more than pain to be dispelled. IT being a prime example of that.

I don't know about Kamui, but 8th gai easily dodges that so it's irrelevant whether he's immune to it or not. I also believe that the gargantuan amounts of pain that the 8th gate cause can act as a "Genjutsu kai". Although it must be noted that he's so fast in this form, it's almost impossible to land genjutsu on him in the first place.

Since you would be travelling at the speed of sound, the sound waves would be moving at the same speed as you. Imagine this:

Gai ---------------------->

Say that Gai is travelling the speed of sound. Say he runs the amount of 5 hyphons.

Sound ---------------->
Gai --------------------------->

Those extra distances were traveled but since each object is travelling at the constant velocity, the speed could not catch up to the person unless they decelerated to a point below the speed of sound. Though, since Gai can distort space, it's probably more accurate on this kind of scale:

Since the energy of the sound wave is absorbed into the environment, Gai can literally outrun sound genjutsu.
