You must be reading the wrong Manga then. Not only are you completely ignoring the fact that Juubi Madara is infinitely superior to Edo Madara by equating Lee kicking Edo Madara to Gai pounding this version, but you're ignoring the actual damage Gai caused. What, you didn't see the giant hole he drilled into the planet with just one punch? When did Ninjutsu work on the black balls? You mean Kamui? The balls could always be teleported. Tobirama and Minato were doing the same thing since Juubito.

I think what OP is getting at is the scale of the respective Jutsu.

We have Morning Peacock that covers a vast area, an area large enough to counter a tidal wave of sharks that Kisame was able to produce. Then we have Afternoon Tiger which is a massive beam in the form of a giant punch that once imparted, causes an explosion nearly the size of turtle island.

By this progression, one could assume that the Evening Elephant should have a blast radius or attack magnitude of unrelenting size and scale. For now, all we can say is that this variation of the gates focuses on pinpoint damage rather than extreme scale. More over, Madara is foreshadowing that Guy might have more abilities to use. If so, perhaps we'll see another variation of the Eighth gate with more massive attacks.
