I have waited for this moment for a long time, and it was pretty damn awesome. However, it pains me that I knew from the moment he activated the eight gates that it was futile. Gai would never be allowed by plot to solo Madara. Any other enemy and Gai would have stomped.

Also I don't know what to feel about him not dying. I mean, that flashback scene was pretty touching and his death would have been quite powerful. On the other hand, his death would ultimately have been pointless.

It was badass. The 8th Gate was the reason Team Guy were on a mission during the Pain Invasion.

Fairly pleased but he should've died soon after, Kishi should've made him go out with a bang.

I was totally satisfied. It is as you say any other person and gai would have won but he fought against the Juubi's ****ing Jinchuriki and he actually did some serious damage so it's perfect and if he'd died it would have been a waste bcos he didn't kill Madara

No. It was far too strong.

No technique should automatically boost someone to Juubi Jin levels, especially not a technique that doesn't come from the Juubi itself such as the Sharingan or Mokuton.

i think kishi kind of went overboard with the powerup of 8 gates, yes i understand 8 gates was said to more powerful than a hokage but it almost seems ridiculous that 8 gates puts him in the same tier or maybe above in power regards that the jinchuriki of the shinjuu that was said to be some sort of god, where that energy that puts him in the same footing that the juubi comes from in the first place, and then for all the time it was said it would kill you and then naruto comes and saves gai, gai cannot do anything better than that anymore , i think he should have left this chacter die to give credibility to his story, after all this is a war and the only named character who died from the good side was neji and he did not have any relevance since the start of part 2

I was pretty satisfied with it, the epicness of the eight gates far exceeded my expectations, and it irked me that I knew it was a futile effort as well at first. but for someone going against the Juubi jin, Gai did pretty well.

Those chapters were so dope, i missed them. If it wasn't for plot Gai would have destroyed Madara

Him dying isn't worth if someone like him couldn't kill his opponent as if he wanted to protect the others and take a look IT was completed and now Kaguya got revived. So, it was actually good that Kishi brought him back, though.

I think it was cool. Maybe to overpowered but either way I liked it. I hate the fact that gai did not die. For all that we might has well seen it a long time ago. Gai made a sacrifice that I think would have been more dramatic if he had actually died. What more could gai have left to do in this series that him dying was inconvenient. I mean when kakashi returned from the dead it seemed to have purpose for the fact that obito was in fact tobi.

Nop its power wasn't balanced.

8 gates almost annilihated Yin/yang Power + All bijuus + one Rinnegan + Hashi SM + EMS tech, and much more.. User.
In other words, Gai shouldn't even be able to beat someone like Hashirama negg diff with ''8 gates'' cuz he can according to the unbalanced power scale Kishi displayed.

Even his father with 8 gates couldn't beat fodder swordsman

He kicked the 10 tails jin in the chest and crushed his ribs, made him bleed all over the place and damn well nearly killed him,,,, i dont know about you but that was awesome!!

And him not dying is not all that bad, Kishi had to show us that Naruto had reached Rikudo level by practically bringing back Gai to life

sure, he was great. but with that said, i think he was too powerful. it was said that the 8th gate would give you power beyond the kage, which it did. but it never said it would give you more power than a god. by all accounts, he could have actually killed madara. had he hit him in the head, or maybe in the middle of his chest, he would have killed him. with that said, i still liked it a lot. his final tech was beast as hell.
