Can we truly say someone who resorts to 8 gates wins a fight, even if they kill the opposition? Because they die also, under normal circumstances.

I mean 8 gates is a last resort so if someone pushes you that far, you go 8 gates and kill them but at the cost of your own life, that's a tie right? Or would you be the winner because they died first? However you still die as a result of being pushed to use 8 gates?

This has the potential to be a conundrum depending on how one defines a winner. Some would say to outlast the opponent would be the winner but others would argue that you only win if you live to fight another day -- but 8 gates disallows that.

It's a suicide tech as Dubious said! But IMO if you take your opponent out before you die then it'a a W because you were the one still standing/alive after the fight.

Well if Sasuke got hit with Diedaras suicide tech I'm sure alot of people would say the fight is a draw. Even tho technically Diedara would have died 1st from blowing himself up.

It depends on how you look at it.

If it's a straight up deathwatch with no purpose than one can look at the end results with a tie or look at it with whoever falls last wins.

Or if it has a purpose such as when did it, then it can count as a win.


Look at it like this.

Gai engages in a deathmatch with the person to protect Konoha, if he loses the person wipes out Konoha. If he wins, Konoha's destruction is averted and Gai succeeded in his purpose, even if he dies right after.

Fight is won when opponent is K.O. cant continue,give up and so. What happens after fight is completely irrelevant for winner.

If Gai beats his opponent before he dies than yes he wins.
