Every hype Gai related is about the speed of his taijutsu movements, never his shunshin or reaction speed. When talking about going from one point to another, Ay is faster because of the superiority of his shunshin. Naruto and Minato are too. It's not for nothing that same Gai could barely see/believe the speed of Biju Mode Naruto's shunshin(something that Kakashi compared to Minato's).
It's not for nothing that despite many people knowing what Gai can do in 7gates(like Yamato despite being in the Anbu), Ay was still known as the fastest ninja. In terms of raw speed, Ay's shunshin is faster than anything 7gated Gai can do. It's 7gated Gai's movement speed that are faster than Ay's. 7gated Gai never got any reaction feat. Ay could dodge instant techniques like Amaterasu, something i don't see Gai(even in 7gates) accomplishing. He can surely avoid to be tagged, but not because of his reaction speed, more because of the speed of his movements and yes, both things are different. As long as no one will even try to understand such a simple thing, this debate will go nowhere.
Movement =/= reaction/distance /dodging speed. Gai's tenacity and the explosive sheer power and the skills of taijutsu are far superior to Ay's. Ay's speed however is superior.
When Gaara commented on Gai's "movements" it was when he was doing his taijutsu asault, something Minato and Ay can never do in their dreams.
I'll wait when you have shown Ay's speed being inferior. The man is able to react to an FTG pop, as long as he knows where the kunais are at. Same FTG pop, that Minato used while Gai in 8th gate was in middle of an attack.

BM Minato could Hirasihin in BM before he was slashed, Gai's physical movements could catch Madara the second time after his attempt hadn't be blocked and he had to move twice to land the second one.
Yea he thought he couldn't use hachimon, because last time he saw him was when Gai was a teen. Was kakashi surprised at his ability to use the 7th gate? no. Why is it that the whole "gai has surpassed Kakashi" crap only came up when Gai went into the 8th gate, and not the 7th gate? If you wanna talk about what people said, don't be selective.

How in the blue hell did you get "movements" which Gaara was referring to the fact Gai keeping up that badass kick barrage, to meaning faster in speed and reacting? Do you not know the difference?
Minato takes a dump on Gai in speed. The man was able to pop up between 2 super fast attacks, and then poof again, while those high speed attacks were still going. Nothing gai has shown comes close to that. All you can do is wank on Gai's taijutsu movements, which are not the same as going from point A to Point B . He simply he has better fighting movements.

Gai's punches with those bubbles(Whaterver it is Lol) implies contact was made...Which is were blocked. The impact is shown with the circles which implies contact was made when the hits were delivered. Kishi made that happened twice with 2 movements in the interval between the strikes...Yet Madara couldn't strike.
If Kishi didn't want to make it special, this should have happened with no contact or so:
Never denied it, however he was blocked. But proves absolutly nothing, when He had already caught Madara off-guard due to a distraction.. rofl. And he had the insane movement to keep up that speed. While Minato and Ay are simply 1 time go.

If you're going to say Madara sensed him, then you guys are hypocrites...If you're going to say Madara heard him running the you guys are hypocrites. Madera was surprised before Gai came(Right after his sentence) which indicates he saw or felt Gai coming. Yet Madara in all this cases is assumed to be normal.
Now you are comparing a Madara who was perfectly standing still and capable of hearing and sensing with his sage mode, sensed a guy who is extermely slow compared to Gai/Minato/Ay.... To a Madara who was in a covered position, and looking at something.. and got caught off-guard..
Why are you trying to claim he wasn't caught off-guard by Gai? Cause Gai in7th Gate ain't touching a fully prepared Madara..... consider how Madara was able to make defense of some sort in the 8th gate.

In Minato's case = he was already fighting, not covering himself and squinting his eyes.
In Tobirama's case = he was already fighting , not covering himself or trying hard to see .
In Gai's case = he got caught off-guard, allowing Gai to get close to him and exchange couple of blows due to his taijutsu skills.

Simple...If not, He won't have evaded Gai's first punch when he couldn't see. He had the Rinnegan which wasn't even noted to be blocked by steam which isn't chakra.
Look at the scan again.. smart one. He only noticed Gai, once he was right under him. He didn't sense him coming. He noticed gai. Rinnegan=/= byakugan. The writer doesn't need to write it in clear words, that the character is trying to see properply.. when the man is squinting his eyes. :yeah:
When you try to downplay things, you end up saying stupid things that don't even make sense. The writer felt it was smart for him to hit Minato who encountered him for a very very short time get smacked but the writer felt it wasn't smart to do so against Gai who matched his physical prowess for greater amount ? and to add to that, have someone refer to his movements? And lets clarify things. Minato and Gai's situations are nothing alike.. don't even compare them as if they are alike. ok. In Minato's case he was trying to attack a Madara who was already in a fighting stance, and slashed down a Minato who he wasn't surprised by. Meaning the distraction failed on their part.
Yes Kishimoto made someone refer to his movements, because they take a dump on any other taijutsu user in the manga... (except grown up lee of course). His movements, are above Madara's, Kaguya's, Rikudou's.. these people on their best day could never copy Gai's movements. Do you know why he was complimented on his movements.. because hes a taijutsu user.
Minato uses teleportation..Point A straight to B. Madara had Gaara's sand blocking his own view(Which surprised him) but Minato appearing out of nowhere didn't surprise him? Why ? Because Minato's speed against him wasn't impressive. He didn't see Minato teleport but he still got ready and slashed him without being surprised(Despite him not being able to see)...Gai's case, He was surprised before Gai came which means he actually saw or felt Gai coming but couldn't do anything between then.
No not really. Minato appears, with a wide gap in front of him and Minato..And then again this Minato is minato with 1 arm... while for him to apply his normal FTG prestige he needs 2 arms.. However, Madara was able to react to Minato, because there was no shock, or something distracting him. As you can see, he was already looking at Minato, once he appeared in front of him.
Madara was also not in a covering position.. So there is no way, they could've caught a juubi's jinchuriki off-guard like that.
If you believe the underlined, then you're too much for me to debate with...Minato's FTG isn't faster than 8G Gai when it's comparable to the 7th. He got outperformed in SM and BM and Gai in the 7th did much better.
If you're going to use the teleporting in between, then talk about hoe Gaara's sand is faster or how Lee can physically react to 8G Gai's full speed.
Ftg speed isn't enhanced by BM /SM. He added SM for his rasengan. Again why are you comparing 2 different situations? If you wanna talk about dodging... and so on. Minato would easily dodge Gai's 7th gate.. ..

Nobody here is saying Minato/AY are better in taijutsu.....than 7th gate Gai.. hell they ain't even better than Rock lee in 6th gate...
