Just wanted to clarify things and say that Pain could really have lose to Jiraya and the hype is valid U_U

1- Without knowledge, Jiraya defeated 3Paths of Pain

2- Pain his arm that handicaped him during the rest of the fight

3- Overlooked point during the Jiraya vs Pain battle

Despite missing an arm and facing the entire Pain force, Jiraya managed to defeat and capture one of the Paths. Dunno why people often say Deva didn't participate in a fight where an instant before the ellipse(which represented the introduction of the fight between Sasuke and Itachi), especially when we clearly see how their fight re-arranged the battlefield(off-panel), showing how intense the fight was

There is a clear difference between this

4- So after killing 3Paths of Pain with no knowledge, missing an arm in a sneak attack, and still defeating and capturing one of the Paths despite all of them being around, he could have avoid death if he really wanted, but only to know the real secret behind Pain, which ultimately led to his defeat

So no, no that fight was far from a stomp and it's not for nothing Pain stated he would have lose if Jiraya had info on him

It's not for a reason that Nagato before going to Konoha. It was an intense battle that took a lot of him

Oh man, Jiraya is too underrated these days U_U

1) First of all, that fight WAS a stomp! Jiraiya was on the defense the WHOLE time, he was running away from the beginning to the end. You might say that it's coz he was prepping sage mode, but what happened after he activated sage mode? Yes, he fought for a few seconds and then realised he couldn't win, and did wat? Oh yes, RAN away and into the tunnels to set up a trap, and that was only against 3 Peins mind you.

2) Speaking of which, Jiraiya didn't 'defeat' the three Peins, he was ALLOWED to defeat the three Peins, he thought he was setting Pein up but actually he was the one being set up. Even Pa realises this as he notes that the other Peins were summoned BEFORE the three Peins went to the tunnel. What does this tell you? It tells you that Pein INTENTIONALLY fell for Jiraiya's trap in order to catch him offguard, as he knew that he would ressurrect them anyway. The intention was for Jiraiya to drop his guard down as he wouldn't know that other Peins existed. This was not because he needed Jiraiya to drop his guard in order to beat him, he needed Jiraiya to drop his guard because the fool kept running away from him. This fight was a clear STOMP!!!!!!
