I'm guessing footsteps on the shinobi alliance and that is Naruto's rasenshuriken

I got the idea that the shining star was the Flower from the God tree opening up and it emitted some kind of light or something (maybe Madara succeeded in stabbing Hashirama with that black pole/ Chakra rod and got the tree to bloom again?) because if you notice right under it there are what seem to be the vines or the trunk of the God tree.

We know that we'll see Hashirama vs Madara in the next chapter. But the last page of 655 has nothing to do with their battles.

You were talking about the last page of 655
But in previous page of 655, we have seen, Naruto standing inside the flower and he found Madara and Hashirama somewhere on the ground battling.
He created RasenShuriken and also his clone said that they need a bigger size.
The size of the Rasenshuriken was responsible for the light at the top of God Tree inside the flower.
And this explanation on the last page, matches with the previous pages of 655.

Ahh I see you're right, Sorry for my mistake. I was paying attention to Obito and Kakashi that I didn't notice Naruto had gotten atop the flower and was charging his Rasen Shuriken.

But that image is a beautiful way to end the chapter, portraying Naruto as the gleam of hope in a darkened world.

The footsteps are from the alliance army when they were running to the battlefield(manga 573) and the shining "star" in the left corner, is supposed to be naruto untop of the tree preparing a giant rassengan technique.

You guys are missing the point here. This is Madara Uchiha and Hashirama fighting behind the mountain. The foot steps could be from clones because they can both use wood clones. Madara probably started chasing Hashirama. And the big flash? Well that's the swords of two Shinobi Battling it out in the night.
