What's up NB, been a while since I've had the chance to make a thread. Probably due to me getting banned too much but I'll try and behave better for the mods ;)

Often we always see complaints about the manga and about how Kishi is forgetting this or maybe he's making some kind of mistakes. There are plenty of times where we NB say what we don't like about the manga... Well not this thread! The thread is as simple as the title, what are five things you really enjoy from the manga. If you can't figure out 5... Well maybe you don't need to be in this thread

But yeah, just say 5 positive things that you have enjoyed from the manga a lot, whether it be from the past, what's currently happening or if it's just something Kishi has done over time. Of course, I have my 5 that'll give you an idea what I'm talking about.

1. Sasuke's character:
Overall, definitely my favorite thing about the manga. Sasuke has had a long path in this manga and the end of that path is still blurry. From a child who wished for nothing but to complete his ambition to a man who wishes to bring a change about the world so that people won't have to suffer like his brother. So people won't try to take over the world like Madara. So people won't have to go through the changes and struggles he's been through in life. He's come a long way from being the selfish, cool kid in part one to someone who will accept help from even someone like Naruto and is now thinking about the bigger picture. He's a dynamic character who is still changing and that is still developing. I can't wait to see how his story ends by the time this manga is over.

2. The Akatsuki
I have just about no complaints when it comes to this group. A group full of individuals with unique powers that wasn't destructively OP. This group was full of people who differed so much yet matched up so well with another. Like Itachi and Kisame: These two seemed nothing alike in personality yet they were both people who had to kill their comrades for what they thought would lead to a better world somehow. Deidara and Sasori with their perspectives of art. Konan and Pain for their goals to bring peace in respect to Yahiko. Kakuzu and Hidan being immortal opposites. My only gripe about this is that they all didn't get a bigger backstory and stick around longer! They're such a nice group together and quite often I forget that this stemmed from the mind of one author Lol

3. Kishi's artwork
I had to bust out some examples for these ( , , , )
Now I know I didn't give out the best, most incredible pages of the manga but these were just a few that I liked a lot myself. They were also on my laptop already, I was too lazy go browsing through the manga . Feel free to post some good examples of Kishi's great artwork cause IMO, he has a good bit of examples. His art has really grown from part one, much more refined than it was back then. Just shows that as Naruto has been growing, so has Kishi's skill in art.
4. Parallels
Not much to mention here, I'm sure we're all aware how much Kishi uses parallels. It's a driving factor in a way for NB, it leads us to make predictions, theories, and even shipping threads Lol. Some say the manga is overdosed on parallels but I don't think it's that bad. I like how Kishi is always able to relate something to another in this manga, with the past and present and just between two characters. My favorite parallel is between Naruto and Obito. Obito is pretty much Naruto on a fallen path and the similarities between the two is astounding, one that you wouldn't consider at all when you first think of Tobi.
5. Themes
Naruto has plenty of great themes. I have to say, Kishi's theme about revenge has really changed my perspective when it comes to revenge. Seeing it as an endless cycle that can get involved so many unnecessary people made me see it as a pointless concept. When it comes to IRL, I never worry about getting even with people anymore and thus, I hardly ever have a problem with anyone. Kishi's themes involving bonds, good/evil, loyalty, etc, are also brilliant. He makes it clear to see what qualifies as good morals and what doesn't.
I realize mine was pretty broad so feel free to narrow down on some of the things I mentioned if you liked something special about it or pick your own. Just pick 5 things you really enjoyed in the manga, whether it's a literary aspect, a character, art, maybe a jutsu, an event, a certain bond, whatever! You get the point, say something nice about the manga :yeah: You don't have to go in depth like I did but say what you like and maybe say what you do like it. If you're too lazy to bring a certain page for art, as least describe it! xD

5. Mythological references.

The Japanese mythological references certainly seem prominent in the manga. Kinda makes me wish I knew more Japense mythology :dunno:
Just the action the story is meehhhh.

OP, I definitely agree with you about parallels, art, and themes. It is one of the reasons I love Naruto too. Thanks for the positive thread.

Mine would have to be:

1. The theme of parents/love/family

I absolutely love the bond between Naruto and his parents, and how he refers to them as "his two suns". It is just wonderful seeing both aspects of Minato and Kushina in Naruto, and how much they love him and he loves them. However Naruto also recognizes that family is not just his parents but also his friends and parental figures like Iruka and Jiraya. It was amazing when Naruto said he finally understood how Sasuke feels about losing his family when Jiraiya died; he was like a father to him, and this was most heartbreaking for me. Jiraiya's character is also just splendid, he is such a wonderful parallel to Naruto and this brings me to...

2. Legacies and dreams + parallels

As I said, I love them. I love that Naruto is doing everything his dear sensei Jiraiya was unable to finish; he is continuing Jiraiya's legacy of belief in peace, and trying to follow his dream. The use of dreams in this anime is completely superb. It shows us that every person must have a purpose in life, and every person uses their own means to achieve their goals. But there are some extraordinary people like Naruto who unites all of these dreams together into something truly great. The way Tsunade believes in Naruto, like Jiraiya, is also very touching; for her, Naruto's dream is a continuation of the dreams of her closest two people. This was always touching for me, the way she is an incredibly moral person despite having to have hung out with the corrupt scheming minds like Danzo and some other elders.

3. The tear factor. (a.k.a. extremely endearing characters with fascinating, tragic, heartwrenching backstories)

Every single character in Naruto has a unique story, and one of the ones I love most is Itachi. "I will love you forever" scene has made me cry on several occasions, after which every appearance of Itachi ever for me made me sad on the inside. Upon rewatching even Part 1, you really then realize all the irony in everything he did and said - doesn't it just make you want to give him a hug? Characters in this anime are so endearing.

4. THE COMEDY!

Gai and Kakashi - sushi contest. When Gai mistakes the real Kakashi for a fake one. Enough said. Or basically any theme with them two. Suigetsu's hilarious remarks. Itachi's wry humor revealed after his death. Kakashi's Icha Icha novels. I love the comedy here.

5. The best friendships & rivalries

Honestly I don't know who could have done it better. The Sasuke/Naruto rivalry in Part 1. The Gai/Kakashi rivalry (one sided, hehe) just makes this anime. The friendship between Sakura and Naruto, and Naruto and basically everyone else. I love it.

Hmm for me?

The Akatsuki. There isn't a single one of them I didn't like As villains their personalites were ones I enjoyed and will remember

The Ninja World. It takes a lot of work to create an imaginary world. Continents, countries ideologies, the very goverment structure. Kishi did an excellent and detailed job not only on the world itself but the laws of nature that govern those who live in it (chakra and it's importance to the world)

The Mythology. I am a fan of history and the use of Japanese Mythology I find awesome. From Amaterastu and Susanoo, to the legendary Sannin ( Not sure if you guys knew but Tsunade Jiraya and Orochimaru a part of Japanese mythology too)

The Characters. I have never read a manga where so many different characters have such a huge fanbase. A fanbase that get completely irate when someone badmouths their favorite character. That says something about the characters.

The Music. This is an honorable mention to the anime studio who puts in just as much as Kishi does into his manga. Not so much the music from part I but Part II has some of the best music I have ever heard in a long running Manga series. Just look at the war arc which i dislike in the manga but love in the anime because of the aire the music lends to each and every situation.

See now? Just because we complain, doesn't mean we don't appreciate Kishi's work. Overall it is a great piece despite its faults.

1) Lee. Lol Surprised?
Honestly i just love his character. In many stories there are characters who work hard- with lady luck at their side- and reach the utmost levels. Well Lee does not. He is weak, he said it himself. But it is alrighy because he represents greatness of process compared to end result. He does not lecture "don't give up because you will have utmost success", he says "don't give up because you love what you do". I see people who dislike their jobs, husbands/wives, study fields; basicly their own choices but still stick with them. Making the choice of person who we can be is the most valuable thing that can be taken from life. So what if you aren't a God tier who can't save the world? You became a ninja when others liked you selling ramen.

2nd/3rd) Fighting styles and mytology. Atleast some of them. I love how battle styles have links with mythology or real world references. Gates and Feng Shui, Gentle fist and Baguazhang (?!), Uchiha and Shinto religion etc. I especially like martial arts orientation.

4th) Villains in their glory days. Orochimaru, Sound 5 and Akatsuki namely.

5th) Parallels. I actually like and dislike this. It went way too overboard but it is tasteful in its own sense.

Fun huh? I used to have fun trying to be a ninja like in Naruto Lol
kishi glorious artwork and the development of some characters, i also like the govern system (kages, clans, hidden villages, anbu, etc)
Oh yeah. Back in part 1, I was really fascinated by the ninja system's structures. I used to want to see K11 go through the steps of genin - > anbu somehow.

1. Love that theme, I was glad that Naruto finally got to know his family and that he was finally able to understand what Sasuke meant back at VOTE in part one.
2. Yes! Forgot about that but I like the legacies that are passed down. The Will of Fire is a big one but I also like the Chain of Hatred.
3. Itachi-san :x3:
4. I miss the humor factor, it's not as prominent as it used to be but I enjoyed it so much with J-man
5. Gai/Kakashi have my favorite rivalry!

The anime does a magnificent job with the music. Itachi's theme is perfect, I like the Akatsuki theme too. And yeah, I don't do enough appreciation myself.

Baffled with the 1st Lol But Lee is a character I enjoy so much. No one fits Drake's song "Started From The Bottom" best! And for Oro, I still have faith he'll end up a villain u_u

You're back! :eek Welcome again.

1. Mythology
- The author likes to incorporate Japanese Mythology and symbolism related to Shintoism and Buddhism into jutsus, clothing, places, etc.
2. My favorite characters
- Kakashi, Obito, Naruto, Sasuke, Nagato, etc.
3. Artwork
- The artwork is honestly phenomenal. I've read several other mangas and I still find it one of the best.
4. Dreams
- That word is being used quite often. I kinda like how it was emphasized and how Naruto's dream affected those around him.
5. Parallelisms
- Although it gets quite excessive for me, the are quite a few details that connects a certain character to another. That's another thing that was interesting.
It was hard to decide five things for me.
