No clue why you wasted your time trying to justify Ussop leaving the crew. When his reason for leaving the crew is irrelevant to the fact he did leave the crew. And it was only after Franky's lecture and many people talking to him, and making his crew suffer in sadness, that he decided comeback and help his crew. The fact he left the crew, questions his loyalty. Zoro threatened Luffy before actually becoming part of the crew, and it was more of a "term", and a thing he wanted to make clear with luffy.

Yes reminding someone to keep themselves secret is the same way telling the captain of crew what his role on the ship is, and what it means to be the captain? And its the same as standing up for the dignity and pride of the crew when the entire crew was going to treat somebody quitting the crew as some sort of a "joke"?

Cool, cause the funny thing is you are always putting down Zoro in this forum , whenever anyone mentions him being superior to any member of the strawhats.

And also, you are more critical of Sanji? cool, Just as I am more critical of Zoro. And find his gags of losing direction stupid. And have made many remarks about Sanji being much smarter than him and more useful than Luffy/Zoro. I simply don't try to force Sanji into something he is not, or have some imagination of the entire crew being some sort of "equals", as that is impossible.

Like I said, Zoro's last legit badass moment was when he faced Kuma. He hasn't had a decent badass moment since then.

No...it's not irrelevant when the conversation is about loyalty to the crew and Usopp's leaving the crew was directly tied to his desire for the crew's well-being...aka loyalty...

Yes. When your crew is there for a mission, it's up to the captain to make sure it goes through and isn't ruined. You think you'd have found Whitebeard charging out of the ocean while the Moby **** was submerged, rushing into Marineford like a wild man, during the mission to save Ace? No, because he's the ****ing captain, the last person you'd expect to do some shit that would **** up the mission. Ensuring that the plan is followed enough to not blow the entire mission is a basic responsibility of the person in charge, something that Franky needed to remind Luffy not to do. Just because it wasn't said explicitly "This is your responsibility as captain" doesn't mean it was not.

To disagree with this is to disagree that the captain has the responsibility of not blowing the mission.

Funny thing is, I voice criticisms about many aspects of One Piece. I can just as easily say you're riding Zoro's sword because I find you always hyping Zoro up to be superior to the other Strawhats in ways he is not. You'll find me criticizing Sanji far more than I have Zoro in this section.

And also, you are more critical of Sanji? cool, Just as I am more critical of Zoro. And find his gags of losing direction stupid. @Bold: Nope, you do enough of that with Zoro.

@Underline: No it's not. Luffy clearly loves and respects his crewmembers equally. When has Luffy EVER showed he has a hierarchy for them in any way? When has Luffy EVER showed that he has ranked them in his affection and respect? Never, that's against Luffy's character and conjecture made up completely by a delusional fanbase.

Exactly my point. He hasn't had a legit badass moment since Kuma, but that doesn't mean Oda isn't still trying to make them happen. Zoro's badassery has lost its effect.

Sanji and Zoro are equally loyal to Luffy. It's just that Zoro is a bit stronger and got the chance to show it

Now if Sanji were to really try and fight Luffy for touching a woman in a non-comic relief way that would be different.

I've yet to see someone name a character from the rest of the crew who meets the criterion to be the VC as much as Zoro. Not a single character in the crew has as many qualities as Zoro in one person to fit to be the VC; that's what separates Zoro from the rest of the crew.

The fact of the matter is, no matter how many points Zoro scratches out of the "VC criteria" list, it would make VERY little sense for someone of Luffy's nature to have a VC. He doesn't even want subordinates, but he's gonna make members of his crew subordinates of each other? The guy who loves and respects his crew all the same? It's against Luffy's character. Besides, what does Zoro have that the others don't? Oh, he yelled sense into Luffy one time, so? Is that all we have to go on?

It's true that even Luffy himself doesn't consider his crew members to be his underlings but he still calls himself their captain. So why not have a vice captain of similar nature? And the problem with your argument is that you're talking as if being a vice captain in SH crew is same as what if means to be a VC in general when the crew is entirely different from what you call a pirate crew in general. Being a vice captain isn't same as you holding some kind of special authority over the rest of the crew and it doesn't work like that in SH crew when the captain himself doesn't hold that kind of a position.

Based on how SH crew works. The one who shoulders the burden of protecting the crew the most is the captain. Luffy has nothing to offer as their captain other than being the one who's responsible for protecting crew. So going by that logic the one who's next to Luffy in terms of responsibility is the one to be the vice captain hence Zoro's the one most fitting to be one. It's not something that I decided over my own personal preferences. It's Oda who always chooses Zoro to be the one to shoulder the crews burden in absence of Luffy. So if you want to blame anyone then blame Oda for choosing Zoro over the rest of the crew. Yes, Luffy isn't a kind of guy that'd name Zoro his VC or rather Oda didn't portray him as such hence Oda has been using out side characters to convey his intentions of wanting to make Zoro the VC. There is a reason why he never made any statements about a character other than Zoro to be Luffy's vice captain.

And there is a reason why he had never made any official statements about anyone being second in command after luffy. Anyway, Mind listing those "qualities" that put zoro above others?

If he did then he'll be forced to make Zoro the official VC even in series for which he'll be making Luffy say that Zoros right next to him in status which in turn would ruin whole portrayal of Luffy until up this point in manga. And I am sure you've been through numerous threads involving this topic and I am sure I'll be getting answers such as the following from you.

Sanji did it too, Does that make him VC?

Nami did it too, Does that make her VC? Etc... then we'll have just because Zoro has quality X doesn't mean that he's the VC? and So on.

It's more than this actually. Zoro is the deutoronist of this manga. That's why he is the only crewmember Luffy doubted superiority even after 100chapters spend together, who is always compared in strength(including in 2databooks) and status to("why is he not the captain?"), had to be blackmailed in order to join the crew, has comparable will, whose dream are rivals to each other(Shanks/Mihawk), who has the most highlight moments only second to Luffy, the most comparable parallels to him(Coby/Helmeppo, Smoker/Tashigi, Teach/Shiliew, Shanks/Mihawk), whose dream is the most emphasized(only second to Luffy's), whose destiny are connected(Worst Generation), and who is always preferred in the most important moments whenever Oda has to chose between him and anyone, Luffy not included
This man actually said Zoro is the deuteragonist...

ill b listing reasons i think zoro is superior to the rest of the crew

1.Ambition zoros ambition to become the greatest swordsman directly helps luffys own no one else on the crew is as dedicated to becoming stronger than zoro
2.Loyalty dear god luffy may have a very loyal crew but none more so than zoro in his battle against kuma he demonstrates this perfectly by taking luffys pain on top of his own
3.fighting ability zoro is clearly the strongest of the sh pirates besides luffy himself and zoros durability is off the charts he has the highest durability feats of all the strawhats luffy included
4.Drive(motivation) zoro has the most noble reason for going for his dream out of all the straw hats luffy wants to be king just because, nami wants money , sanji wants to find all blue , usuop wants to b a brave warrior etc
Only zoro has a childhood friend who died so he is continuing kuinas dream and fulfilling his own none of the strawhats have a deeper reason to go for their dream
5.Hes badass this ones more of an opinion but kind of a fact lol zoro is just intimidating and he had a reputation for being badass before he joined the crew baroque wrks wanted him its a huge list of badass moments zoro is in
1.Every crewmate of his is dedicated as hell for fulfilling their dreams, its just zoro's dream include strength that's why he is trains hard.
2.Every crewmate of luffy is loyal to him and sanji came before zoro to help luffy at kuma's time and he was ready to pay the consequences.
3.Oda always shows sanji and zoro equal, its us fans who distinguish them so there is no point in this note.
4.Chopper wanted to become the worlds greatest doctor to show his dead doctor(forgotten his name), ain't that similar. Brook waited for 50 years to met a fish who just followed them once, had his whole crew died in front of his eyes, roaming in the dark lost sea for several years so that one day he can reunite with laboon, robin had her whole family slaughtered and her whole island was destroyed, running from the worlds strongest organization for 20 years so that she could live and fulfill the dying wish of her mother and of that old man(who taught her how to read polenglyphs).
And you still think zoro has better motivation and noble reason to become WSS.
5.So................its his nature.

CONCLUSION:- This thread is stupid and every crewmate of luffy is great not only zoro in their own way, without any single of them luffy won't have travelled by this far.
It looks like you are big zoro fan boy.
