Grown Up Goten.

Black Goku is younger than the Goku we know and love, he also wants to kill trunks or rather he wants to fuse with trunks(wouldnt this kill him as an individual/identity?) I hope this is true. It would add so much character to the show, and it would parallel well ( Goku and Vegeta. Except, a variation of Goku is evil, not Vegeta). Plus as you can see they have Gotens present in this opening sequence image, in front of the main protagnist/antaginist of this Arc. But why Goten? Why not Vegeta? We know why Pilaf is there, he and Mai and that fox/dog thingy will do something funny and run into Trunks somehow. We know why Trunks is there. But why is Goten present? Just so we wouldnt forget about him? I doubt it.

Only thing is Goten never existed in Future Trunks Timeline. But that might actually work in our favor, what if Black Goku stole "the Cube" that whis and Vados use to travel through Universes from the God Of Destruction in his universe? Remember "the Flawless Hit" was in the tournament only for this purpose Originally.

He's got the same Green potara earring as the Universe 6 Kaioshin, and he's wearing it on the same ear that the U6 guy is missing one. Sure, it's gold instead of Silver, that might just be a thing in U6 Potara earrings. And there's the other green Kaioshin in the top picture, they might be related in some way.

I really don't want him to be Universe 6 Goku, because that would be far far too easy. Although Cabba does imply that Planet Salad has their own Vegeta, so it's possible.


But the real question still remains: Why does FTrunks have blue hair now?

U6 Earth wouldn't have a Goku on it though. Goku was only sent to earth because Frieza was going to destroy planet Vegeta. In U6, saiyans still live on Planet Salad, and they don't go around conquering planets to sell them on the black market. If there is a U6 Goku, then he would most likely have grown up on Planet Salad.

Also, it's confirmed in the episode that this Trunks is the same guy from the Android/Cell sagas, not some alternate timeline or parallel universe version.

In U6, saiyans still live on Planet Salad, and they don't go around conquering planets to sell them on the black market. that does not subtract from the fact he could still be a future trunks, from another universe future. what if the exact same thing happened in his universe? he had to go to the past and find his Goku. But this time, he didnt have enough fuel(that blue stuff bulma was making)? So he ended up in the past of a parallel timeline. And who says Goku never came to earth? Saiyans were mostly evil in universe 7, besides Goku , so just like in his universe, he could be the only odd ball, the only evil Saiyan.

I think you will find that it does. "The Author confirmed you were wrong" is a fairly difficult argument to get around.

No, this is literally the same guy, not any alternate universe version. Time Travel makes it a bit screwy, but it's the same version of Trunks that helped against the androids and Cell, and who killed the Androids in his timeline, and did everything in the main series.

Black can't be Goten, because A) Goten was conceived just before the cell games, at which point Goku would have been dead in that timeline. B) If Goten did exist in that timeline, then Gohan would have trained him and Trunks. And C) Goten sucks.
