Service announcement. This post could be considered long so if you don't want to spend the time then just leave. Just a warning for those TL:DRers out there

So about a month and a half ago I decided to read one piece. First things first I love it. Fantastic manga and I'm glad I read it and that it is still producing content. However there are two questions that I have.

First off. The geography of one piece. Am I right in assuming that the world is as follows
*The redline goes around the world and the grandline goes around the world adjacent to the redline. Also there are two calm belts on the sides of the grandline.
*If so are the 4 seas (north blue, east blue, south blue, and west blue) in the 4 areas in between the redline and the calm belts.
*Also if the last two are true then could the strawhats get an eternal pose (for dressrosa or anywhere else)and sail out of the grandline and visit Luffy's hometown? After all if the last two assumptions are right then all that is separating them from Luffy's hometown (and other places of note from early in the story) is a calm belt and personally I believe the strawhats could take on the seakings long enough to move past the calm belt.
*lastly I hear theories about shanks going back through the grandline after meeting Luffy and that he met Raleigh while doing so. Does this have manga facts or is it possible that he went through the calm belt to re-enter the new world.

Secondly

Now as we all know this is not the case since Brok said that his crew died in Thriller Bark. Was that a retcon or did I miss something?

Well damn. Ok i'll explain it here. It was originally 4 questions but the last two were simple answers that I just googled. I thought I went back and changed the title... oops.

p.s. the questions were who called the strawhats to punk hazard/was punk hazard an island before the admiral fight and how can smoker use (what I thought was) a seastone weapon and be able to use his DF power. Yes the questions were a bit stupid but I was reading approximately 17 and a half chapters a day. One is bound to miss some details.

The guy heard that Brook's crew had left the grand line, not that they had gone out through the calm belt. It's possible that he just misinterpreted news of their deaths.

Your first question is answered by you're second. They can't go from the New World to Luffy's Hometown, because of the calm belt.

This also gives me a question: Navy Ships are supposed to be able to withstand the Calm Belt, yet no one has ever thought of stealing one and going strait to the end of the New World to find the treasure.

For a yonkou it would be easy to return to the grand line and then to east blue from the new world, through Fishman island. Considering rayleigh is actually capable of swimming across one lol.

Second part: I think that is a translation error, or crocus just meant they left because they never encountered them in the grand line or the new world.

It is a bit more complicated then you think.
Have you ever heard of doldrums?
It is an area near the Equator where there is no wind. because of the Coriolis effect from the Earth spinning, we are able to have wind which we can sail on the ocean. but near the Equator, that wind is near zero. Way back when we didn't have the technology we do today, people would say into these doldrums and be stuck there for weeks to months because of no wind.

I think they same issue is with the Calm belt. There is no wind, so they can't sail across it. That is why Boa's ship had a paddle attached to the back. Same with the navy ships. In order to sail across the calm belts, you need to paddle, or just pull a Reyleigh and just swim across. The other issue is the paddles make a lot of noise which attracts the Sea Kings. That is why the navy ships have sea stone to blend in with the ocean to camouflage their ship.

So yes it is possible to get across the Calm Belt, but you have to paddle the entire way, and then fight the sea kings, which some of them are huge. Not to mention their unnamed king. Who knows how strong that thing is.

As for the 2nd part, I do not recall them saying they have met, but it is a high probability since Shanks had to go through where Reyleigh lives in Sabaody.

The thing with Brook, the crew disappeared in the Florian Triangle. No one saw them go to the next island so they assumed they got out through the Calm Belt.

I believe Kin'emon was the person that called them on the snail phone.

And lastly, Smoker has the tips of his weapon with sea stone. The rest is just a normal weapon so he can hold it and use his DF powers just fine.

Enies Lobby, Impel Down and the Marine HQ are not that far apart.

Also Amazon lilly isn't all the way past the calm belt. I think it says in one of the chapters that Rayleigh sailed through a storm and got shipwrecked and then swam the rest of the way. Which is why people were shocked, because he swam a large distance through the calm belt but not the entire span of it.

Dude there are no storms in the calm belt (that's why its called calm, duh!). So rayleigh did swim the entire distance.
But I am not really sure of the rest part.

"A Storm, there are no storms in the calm belt. Which means your boat sank outside the calm belt and you actually swam all this way?!"

So there you go.

It never states that Amazon Lilly is all the way through the calm belt. As if it were, it would be in one of the other seas. It's only part way through it.

Meaning "Amazon lily" itself may lie in the calm belt. Quite possible, but we have no definite proof.

What do we need to prove? Amazon Lilly is in the calm belt, this is a fact.

Rayleigh got shipwrecked in the Grand Line, and swam the rest of the distance to Amazon Lilly, this is only part way through the calm belt.

It physically can't be the other side of the belt, as it is located within the belt itself. So Rayleigh has been show to swim only part way through one and not the whole distance.

That's all i was trying to say :p.

I believe Kin'emon was the person that called them on the snail phone.
Can't remember whether it was just anime or I saw it in a chapter, but Rayleigh has a flash back of Shanks meeting him (I think in Sabaondy), and how he met a kid saying the same stuff "the captain" did.

And I didn't think it was kin'emon on the snail phone, I thought I recalled the person mentioning a "samurai" causing trouble and that that was Kin'emon... Or maybe Kin'emon was talking about Law... But I'm gonna go with the first :)

And thinking about it, I've just realised something... Once you enter the grand line through reverse mountain, how do you get out? It looks like you're stuck in there forever lol looking at these maps, but we know that's not true as We've seen both Shanks and Mihawk in one of the blues :hmm: .... Interesting...

Did Don Krieg? Oh aye, Mihawk chased him out lol! Again, I especially wonder how he got back xD bit of a plot hole if you ask me >.>... Garp and Gol are understandable too, as they used Marine ships... Hmm, didn't Zeff get shipwrecked in the Grandline along with Sanji, or was he already out by then? But they got picked up regardless, but annoyingly, this is going to be on my mind now as a problem aha
