3rd Hokage and Naruto

It seemed as though the 3rd Hokage was really curt and cold to Naruto when he asked about his parents. I know for security reasons it was best to keep everything under wraps about his identity, but why didn't they assign him guardians to at least look after him or something instead of nothing and nobody.

yeah I was thinking the same thing but he couldn't have Naruto finding out about his parents so the only way to get him not to ask was to be mean

I guess he didn't have guardians living with him since it isn't in shinobi culture? beats me

Yeah, everyone was mean as hell, the only one who wasn't, just kind of indifferent, was Shikamaru. Maybe the he saw him as the kyuubi as well, representation of the death of Minato and Kushina.

He was pretty mean to him, but it was to keep him from finding out. It happens haha

I'm thinking maybe he blames Naruto a little bit for the death of Biwako (the 3rd's wife).
