How can people still not understand Sasuke's character?

Sasuke spent 698 chapters trying to cut his ties to everything and every one he ever cared about. The fact that he tried to kill Sakura and distance himself from her proves his feelings for her from the beginning.

Why is it that people accept Naruto and Sasuke's relationship after everything that happened, but can't accept Sakura's and Sasuke's relationship based on the same exact motives?

Ignorance, that's why.

Naruto and Sasuke's relationship was based on a rivalry that turned into a bond. A fated bond that spiritually bound them to each other. Both understood each other on a higher level of understanding than Sakura could ever hope to attain.
