The manga readers know how eager we were to know what was in the scroll that Suigetsu found in Orochimaru's secret hideout. There was a long gap to know what really was inside that scroll. People were making theories and predictions based on the secret behind that scroll.
And just look at the preview of the next chapter.
It totally ruined the suspense in one roll. Really, I mean, don't the animators know how to reveal a secret?
In the manga, Suigetsu wasn't even shown opening the scroll. He was shocked about the content in that scroll.
The secret behind that scroll is far bigger than Tobi's revelation. We all know that.

1) They ruined Sasuke's EMS in an opening a few openings back (Sasuke's EMS never even appeared within that opening's timeframe)

2) They ruined Madara in the same opening (Not a clear reveal of Madara, but you saw him fight the Kage)

3) They ruined Madara in a preview for his episode (same fashion as this preview, only they literally showed Madara walk out of the coffin).

Im sure Im missing some things, but you should get the idea. The animators are not only getting sloppy in the animation, but they clearly don't give a f*ck about spoilers and about suspense, cause they just spoil whatever they feel like whenever they feel like it. I wouldn't be surprised if they show Tobi's face in a preview.


PS: I disagree that the contents of the scroll are bigger than Tobi's identity. Even now, to newcomers, Tobi's identity is probably one of the greatest mysteries in manga. Its hard to top it. Yes, the scroll plays a part in the plot, but in the end it really hasn't done much.

And not to mention this really isnt a big deal. And it doesnt matter at all for the ppl that dont read manga because they domt even know whether it is very important, or whether it is a spoiler or not, whether it was shown in the manga or not. They just watch the anime and just see what happens.

Sure, it's easy to piece Tobi's identity together with all the obvious signs NOW. But back when it was a mystery in the manga, I remember there being a least 5 threads a day about people creating theories about who Tobi was. Sure, you had the people who predicted accurately who Tobi was (not gonna say it), but for the majority of the fanbase, it was a big deal.

You're giving the anime only people an unfair handicap. And when I say "you're", please understand I don't mean you alone. I see this all the time, and I really don't get it. People assume that the anime only viewers don't have the same thinking process as manga readers. Just because manga readers are so much more ahead of the game, doesn't mean anime only people can't make theories. Can't infer and predict. I also remember seeing all kinds of theories about how Kishi might "write a way to release the reaper seal", and that was WAY before the scroll was introduced. The only thing that scroll did was give those people something to hope for. So, I still have to say, that the secret of the scroll still wasn't as big a deal about Tobi's reveal. I mean, Tobi's reveal was such a big deal that fans everywhere were torn apart emotionally. I remember the thread fire-storm when his identity was revealed, I remember all the manga reviewers having a f*cking field day with the reveal. Something that can evoke suck an emotional response like that from the audience just can't be topped.

It looks like a generic Noh theater mask. It would be a stretch to think that someone with no idea would make the connection between it and the specific demon it's meant to raise. Or that it's a spell meant to raise anything. And even if they knew it had something to do with the Death God, would they even be able to guess that the purpose for calling it had any other function than to feed it more souls?

The process is too complex.

Unless you've already read the manga, the chances that the anime watchers would figure it out is only slightly higher than the manga readers at the same point in the story.

Even if they did show the mask, would it really be that easy to connect it to the Death God, and to Orochimaru of all people? (Who anime watchers believe to be dead at the moment)

You'd have to be a genius to work it out from seeing that one glance into the scroll.

Even if they manage to link the death god to that picture of a mask, the shinigami was YEARS AGO. It hasn't come up since and could involve anything involving a god of death. Hell, it could be gain the powers of a shinigami, it could cause immortality, it could be get in contact with death, hey- it could even be to revive dead people. The point is, nobody is really analysing this random scroll in any detail because of the huge battles taking place with Naruto, Tobi, the Kage and Madara. If they manage to work that all of the hokages are coming back just from that one little picture. Then they deserve to know, because they are literally sherlock holmes.

People sure like to complain about stupid BS. haha. No, its really not bad at all. Its only the preview and i know for a fact that nobody would be able to accurately figure out what it is that is anime-only from that, especially given they wouldn't know the context of what is even going on. As a manga reader, i think its a cool little thing they put there, really.
