Like the Byakugan (to some extent), the user is able to see chakra sources. On the other hand, the Sharingan's main abilities breaks down into three parts. The first, being the insight eye, grants the user visual clarity and the capability to recognize different forms of chakra; especially genjutsu. Along with this, they are able have predictive capabilities which are utilized to see the image of an attacker's next move from the movement in their body and counterattack or dodge perfectly. The second part, allows the user to memorize and mimic any technique that uses hand seals (with the exception of special techniques like Ice, Lava & Steel Release). The third, and final part, is the ability to induce any opponent into Hypnosis (as seen used on a tailed beast) or Genjutsu.
Two Tomoe: It allows the user to perceive motions as well as be able to copy the motions perceived as long as he is able to perform them physically. The user can now anticipate and analyze faster movement, as well as mimic minor movements made by an opponent. The user can now track higher speeds and, by reading the hand seals, and can predict to some extent the use of Ninjutsu techniques. The user is now able to pierce through visual C rank genjutsu and below.

The Sharingan is a doujutsu that has three standard stages which are represented by the tomoes in the eye. The eye itself is only unlocked under extreme emotional circumstances. During these circumstances, the Uchiha's brain will send a special chakra to the eyes which unlocks the sharingan. Now the sharingan of course grants several abilities. One of which is seeing chakra. Chakra is normally transparent unless concentrated. Seeing chakra allows the sharingan a sort of pseudo x ray vision. For example if there is chakra hidden behind rock or in the ground, the sharingan can see it. Another famous ability of the Sharingan is its ability to copy jutsu. The sharingan records the all the of the mechanics that allow the jutsu to be. The ability to use this information rests in the users own ability though. The Sharingan can also cast powerful hypnotizing genjutsu and see through genjutsu up to a certain rank depending on the stage. The tracking of the sharingan is also increased compared to normal eyes. The doujutsu can track objects at higher speeds compared to normal eyes.
The main enhancements that come with the 2nd tomoe is the increased perception. A 2 tomoe sharingan can track, anticipate, and analyze objects at higher speeds. This includes reading handseals in order to predict the jutsu that comes after. In a numerical sense , a 2 tomoe sharingan alone allows the user to track speeds as high a two times their own compared to the one and the half tracking allowed by a single tomoe sharingan. At this stage the sharingan can now see through C ranked genjutsu and allows the use of a few sharingan jutsu.

Following Vēx's instructions, Sasuke would gather up a small portion of chakra amd proceeds to channel it to his eyes. When this happens, his eyes would turn from onyx to a deep red and a single tomoe appears – indicating that his Sharingan has activated. Upon activating his visual prowess, Sasuke begins to scan the immediate area with his enhanced clarity. Momentarily, he would take a good look at his teacher's chakra network, and then his training partner – Who happens to look like an older version of himself >_>. After taking a good look at both of them, Sasuke would notice that their two networks are completely different from each other. Sasuke would then wait for Vēx to continue with the lesson.

Following his teacher's instruction once more, Sasuke would proceed to close his eyes. Opening his eyes, he notices Vex hand him some paper and a pen. Nodding in understanding, Sasuke would sit indian-style on the ground; placing the pad/paper on his lap. As he would begin to draw, he would have no need to look up to further observe the surrounding area — Due to memorizing it with the Sharingan.
Lucky for him, he happened to have a brush and paint on him for just such an occasion. The area was actually pretty neat, as compared to what he was use to in Kiri. They were on a small hill, covered with a short layer of grass and a few daisies scattered around. Just beyond the bottom of the hill, 4m away, there were a couple eucalyptus trees to the left of them — accompanied by five or six bushes. Near the trees, there's a small pond 6m away, with ten more eucalyptus trees and small bushes littered around it. Further away from Sasuke's position, he remembers a few pine trees to his right. In the distance, there's a small mountain with a thin layer of snow. There were no clouds today, so Sasuke didn't bother in adding those in, even though they would compliment the environment nicely. Finishing the painting, he would add a few more details to the mountain and pond.
Upon finishing, Sasuke gets up and hands his masterpiece to Vex. "Call me Bob Ross u_u"

Hiei(Roll with it) accepts the pen and paper after closing his eyes and does as directed. Soon Hiei started to revisualize his environment in his mind.

Underneath them both were millions of grass blades that danced elegantly with the wind along with flowers here and there on the hill. 4m below at the bottom of the hill were trees of some kind with what seemed to be 5 bushes to their left. Nearby was a localized pond with the same trees and bushes around it. One bush did have cherries in it. In the distance was a mountain covered in snow. At the upper right corner of my vision was the sun shinning bright without any clouds to block its rays. Hiei, now done, opens his eyes and hands his paper to sensei. While doing so he catches a glimpse of Sasuke paper. Damn thing looked like Sai drew it while mine could be described as "meh", but Hiei did his best with the pen and paper nonetheless.

Nice job, your drawings are pretty spot on. 2T is the time you begin being able to copy techniques. So I'd like you to mimic the techniques I perorm.
I make a set of handseals and then focus chakra into my chest. I heat the chakra, forming it into fire chakra before releasing it as a massive ball of flame.

Nice job, your drawings are pretty spot on. 2T is the time you begin being able to copy techniques. So I'd like you to mimic the techniques I perorm.
I make a set of handseals and then focus chakra into my chest. I heat the chakra, forming it into fire chakra before releasing it as a massive ball of flame.

The fire ball can present itself in 2 forms: it can either be created by a stream of fire and sustained as a gigantic ball of flames in front of the user spanning up to short range or be released as a slightly smaller ball of fire which will travel towards the enemy up to mid range.

Okay. Standard Uchiha jutsu. Hiei weaved the same handseals his Sensei did and gathered Katon chakra in his lungs. He then expelled a massive fireball, that was exactly the same as his master's, into the sky.
Following Vex's instructions, Sasuke would watch him form the set of hand seals moments before spewing a fireball. Memorizing the hand seals that he performed, Sasuke begins to copy it perfectly. As he does this, he builds up some chakra and releases a small fireball from his mouth.
Good, now copy this taijutsu combo. Remember, you can copy and follow movements at this level.
I run forwards into a clone, and deliver a powerful palm strike with my right hand towards its chin. As the clone reels from the blow, I'd focus my chakra into my leg as I drop down low and deliver a powerful kick to the clone's chin and launch him to the air. Suddenly, I'd appear above him and do a powerful arm smash directly to the top of the skull and send him flying down to Earth.

Suddenly, I'd appear above him and do a powerful arm smash directly to the top of the skull and send him flying down to Earth.
Sasuke would watch as Vex would perform a simple set of Taijutsu attacks on a clone, and uses his Sharingan memorize his movements. Following suit, he would create a clone as his dummy, 5m away from him. After doing so, Sasuke proceeds to dash in their direction. When in range, the Uchiha remembers how Vex began with a palm strike; and as a result, Sasuke opens his right hand and performs a palm attack on the clone's chin – making them stagger. Next, Sasuke would shift his body downwards as he channels chakra in his leg. Momentarily, he would deliver a strong kick to the clone's chin, sending them flying. Before they would get far, Sasuke leaps in their direction and suddenly appears above them. Finally, Sasuke performs a quick strike to their skull with his forearm; sending them crashing into the ground.
Hiei watched carefully as his Sensei performed a set of taijutsu moves. Me made note of every detail of his moves. This was easier since his Sharingan passively aided in this. Now it was his turn to imitate the moves. Hiei created a clone and moved 5m from it. Hiei than ran toward the clone copying, Vex Sensei's movement step for step, and thrusted his right palm into the clone's chin with enough strength to launch him into the air. As his sensei did, Hiei would appear above the clone and deliver a downward arm smash sending the clone into the ground.
