Hashirama extreme difficulty. Although Rinnegan is strong I don't think it's exactly what gave Madara the push he needed to be considered superior to Hashirama..the thing that did that were Hashirama's jutsu themselves. Although, I'm not too confident that Madara could even use those to the level Hashirama could.

madara would win against the first hokage. he lost with kurama and the ems. but he badly injured the first hokage. but sense he has the rinnegan he can take out the first hokage. but it will still be hard. even kabuto said the only person who was stronger than madara was the first hokage but sense madara has the rinnegan and wood release hes way stronger than him now
