The blame cannot be put all on the parents, Some yes but not all. What kind of fucked up mentality does this kid and the rest of his generation have to find the need to shoot someone at all.

It's troubling to think about how a 13 year old boy can get his hands on a gun to begin with. What's worse is, where are his parent's in all this? Yes the kid might have had some issues, but I mean seriously when I hear about this kind of thing, my mind automatically shifts to the parents.

Are parent's so out of the loop now that they can't keep tabs on the emotional state of there children? I mean if someone, even a younger person is in emotional turmoil it's pretty obvious, there are tons of signs in regards to depression, anxiety, etc.

You can't blame everything on television violence, it can't be a reasonable excuse anymore, I grew up with violent cartoons as I'm sure most do. But if I ever did anything inappropriate or seemed down my parent's were there to help me through the situation. This really shouldn't happen. Sorry to rant, but it's just a waste of life and it upsets me to hear this.

Well, the problem is that parents are young. People get married in their early twenties or even at 18-19. That's stupid, they're just children themselves, certainly not ready to have a family. Two things happen with young parents: 1. all they care about is themselves, they don't even care about their spouse for the most part and definitely not their children 2. they still believe that spanking children is wrong, older people know better and know that the only way to raise a child is to spank them.

I'm not saying all young couples are like this, but most are. Also, some kids don't talk to their parents anyway. My brother used to get away with the craziest stuff all because our parents didn't have a clue that anything was going on.

They're either too sensitive, either too aggressive.
You don't get to see those in the middle that might be sensitive but able to stand for themselves but not going over the edge.

To be honest, I am in the middle..and I will be able to defend myself quite well if the occasion arises..

I am not a kid anymore but I do am that type of middle person.
I mean, I am sensitive, soft like to act childish however, don't step on my nerves or hurt someone close to me cause I'll rip you to shreds! But in such a way that I won't kill you, I'll let you suffering.

I know, I sounded weird however this is how I feel. But unfortunately you cannot see people like these.

I know I was reading even forums and saw how some kids went butthurt because their thread got closed (and I am not talking only NB here), got infracted or something like this and they were all sooo sensitive.
"Boo! You closed my thread"...
WTF, it's not the end of your life.

And this lead me to how superficial teenagers are nowadays.
The majority doesn't understand the importance of a human life, feelings, being caring with the one next to you, talk nicely, be polite, stuff like this.
Being actually human, in lesser words.

Exactly this, whatever happened to reasonable resolve? I mean, I'm not going to let someone step on my nuts and just ignore something/someone that's really pissing me off. But in no way would I hold such a grudge or vendetta against that person as to seriously harm or even kill them. Especially with your last point, life is not something that should be overlooked or scoffed at, it's sickening to think that this is the generation that will be replacing my own...what happened? When did it get this bad?

I think what happened is morals were slowly removed, it didn't happen overnight. It started with the small things. Men don't stand up when a lady enters the room. Elders aren't respected, no one says "yes sir/yes ma'am" anymore. The only fear a child has of their parents is that they'll be sent in the corner, not spanked. It's not any one thing, it's all of it, and in the end it means people do not have respect for themselves nor those around them, that allows everyone to just go wild. U_U

This isn't a problem of a generation, it's a problem of humanity itself. Things like these have always happened throughout history.

I despise when people say that a generation is at fault. How about the generation that raised this generation? Or the generation that raised that one?

Pointing fingers at other people will only make things worse. It's called judging and stereotyping. Their is good and bad out of every group.



On-topic: This seems like a sad, sorry story. It's hard to pass judgement without knowing the circumstances, but murder is never justifiable.

You can go down the street to the shot house and get a gun for $60. You guys are asking where his parents are? He doesn't have any he lives with his best friend and role model gangbanger that just happens to have fathered him and his alchoholic caretaker who doesn't take care of him

I am at home where I live and I am making a honest living, I feel safe, I have no reason to move.
