It wasn't an accident on Itachi's part. Obito purposefully turned Sasuke into that, foiling Itachi's plans by betraying their pact, and yet Itachi had planned two contingencies to handle that. The first being Amaterasu, which Obito used Izanagi to survive (Itachi did not know Obito had Izanagi,) and the second being Kotoamatsukami, which Itachi ended up using on himself and being able to, as Orochimaru put it, overwrite the manipulations of Obito and Orochimaru.

He's obviously a genius. Obito hanging onto life through Itachi's trap, Obito easily being the hardest living person to kill, does not undermine that in the slightest.

I'm not arguing that he's not a genius, I'm arguing that he's not the smartest. From your comments, it seems like Obito was smarter regardless since it was a battle of wits if you look at it that way and a better mastermind.

Which means Obito>Itachi in intellect

How was Obito a better mastermind? He used Izanagi to survive Itachi's jutsu, something that Madara taught him, and gave him Hashirama's DNA, and Itachi's Kotoamatsukami is what resulted in Itachi overwriting Obito's manipulation of Sasuke and saving Naruto and Bee to foil the Moons Eye Plan. Moreover, Obito had a 1 in intelligence, so his natural intellect is definiely inferior to that of Itachi.

His advantages over Itachi are also immense. He inherited Madara' decades of preparation and knowledge, did not have extremely limited time caused by sickness, and did not have to handle the delicate situation of the Uchiha massacre like Itachi. All he had to do was betray his pact and **** it up, something Itachi anticipated, and created two contingencies for.

We don't know whether he used Izanagi or Kamui to counter amaterasu, that's speculation. But seeing as though Obito saw that coming, I'd say that's pretty intelligent. How did KA do that? All it did was free him from Edo tensei and not get to be used on Sasuke and he didn't foil Obito's plans at all. Obito originally planned on going to war without Kabuto's help.

As you said, Obito could have manipulated Naruto if he wanted to. Obito also manipulated Nagato/Yahiko into creating akatsuki at the age of like 15 and was able to fight on par with minato at that age

but as I said before and you already stated, Obito foiled both backups to Itachi's plan meaning Obito>Itachi....If Itachi was as smart as you claim, then the plan would have worked. Having a good plan, doesn't mean squat you can't achieve it. But Obito just about achieved his/Madara's, like 99% of it....all that's left is the 10 tail revival. so no, no, no, and NO.

The way I see it Madara>Obito>Itachi in intellect.

Most of the feats u've said is itachi being excellent in his use of sharingan. This makes him intelligent in a specific way. Itachi is the most intelligent psychologically and perceptively(thanks to his sharingan).
Tactically, i dont think he is the smartest. I dont think he is the most creative or logical person is the manga. At the end of the day, this topic is subjective.
He would outsmart oro in a battle any day but that doesnt mean his comprehensive skills are as good as oro. He cant perform certain jutsu oro can or be as resourceful, despite the aid of sharingan. He is definatley in the top tier tho

BTW Itachi having KA isnt actually an intelliegence feat. How he used it isnt either as almost anyone with his goal would have done the same. The intelligence was the perceptive knowledge of naruto's character and his inclusion of him in his plans

Obito foiling the Amaterasu had nothing to do with intelligence. Madara taught him Izanagi, whereas Itachi straight-invented the trap transferrence jutsu. And Obito hasn't foiled Itachi's use of Kotamatsukami, which saved Naruto, Bee, and probably converted Sasuke and Kabuto as well. My entire point in comparing Obito and Itachi is that the deck was stacked in Obito's favor, so his apparently overcoming Itachi's plans is not solely attributed to superior intellect. It'd be like me beating Stephen Hawking in a game of chess if I started off with four queens instead of one. Obito started out with all of Madara's 70+ years of preparing tools, gathering knowledge, and building soldiers, whereas Itachi was a kid on his own.

Madara being smarter than Itachi is a more dynamic view on intelligence, and something I could possibly agree too, although they're very distinct from one another.

I don't think Itachi invented anything.....it's an eye tech. When you like at Itachi's plan as a whole, it wasn't anything complex or special.

Kill uchiha to save village, but save brother and pretend to be a villain for him to seek revenge and become a hero, when you are defeated put amaterasu on him just in case Tobi decides to contact him since he knows my true past and KA as the final backup if sasuke's really goes bad.

That wasn't very hard to come up with. But Madara coming up with a plan that can control the entire world and become god, figuring out how to clone hashi and obtain his cells to sustain life, obtaining rinnegan, and getting resurrected in the future with having your apprentice as a fail safe to manipulate a group and capture the bijuu, start a war, and so on is the meaning of mastermind.

Considering that Obito learned everything he could from Madara at such a young age and having his plan go smoothly is difficult within itself and requires much more effort than posing as villain to fool your brother into killing you.

No, it's a fūinjutsu. A fūinjutsu with a special release mechanism that we haven't seen anything like, and to which Obito said Itachi "somehow" did, indicating that he didn't know how.

If I wanted to trivialize like it, like you just did to Itachi, I'd say "Steal Hashirama's power, read tablets for power-up, get power-up, cast genjutsu." The devil is in the details, for both cases.

Being able to steal the DNA of Hashi without getting killed in the deathmatch is a feat of it's own. We still don't really know what the tablet says but I doubt it's as detailed as collect the bijuu to create the juubi and use it to cast genjutsu on the world. I'm sure he had to figure out how to control it's power effectively and how to summon the gedo mazo on his own.

Madara doesnt seem the smart type im sorry, to me he is just the most powerful hybrid and the one who achieved the most terrific power, but in the battle against Gokage and Naruto, all his counters came from the properties of his jutsus, not actual skill or smarts in using them. He is just a powerhouse to me, a powerhouse with experience and knowledge. Itachi to me is way smarter than Madara.

Sasuke was able to perform oro's substitution tech why not itachi ?

they why does oro seeks the sharingan ?
doesn't he need it to learn all jutsu ?

If Itachi was calm and cool all the time, everyone would have a completey different perspective of him....just look at shikamaru. He acted like a dumbass throughout all of pre-shippuden and turned out to be a genius all along. The only reason people think Itachi is the best and the smartest is because of his attitude.

And why has sasuke brought back oro? Remember what he said? Oro is like a biology professor but despite his massive brain he cant solve maths equation. He is a idiot in battle due to arrogance but intelligent nonetheless. Same with itachi and EVERY character in the manga

As far as intel goes then there are a lot of people that can be put in the same position as Itachi. Kabuto and Obito are just two of them. But if we are speaking on the "good guys" then yes Itachi is the best at intel. But trying to explain it is a waste of time on this forum. Too many haters and hardcore fans for certain characters.

Your logic is super flawed you twit. You contracdicted yourself. You say if one doesnt complete a plan successfully that takes away there title of genius intellect. That is false btw. Then in your next sentece you say obito is 99% done with his plan so then if he fails which he will because naruto is the protagonist will you then say obito and madara are not of above average genuis intellect?? No you wont because a failed plan does not define ingenuity you moron. Geniuses fail too but they have the ability to use there above average intelligenece to influence a desired outcome in complicated and difficult circumstances. Itachi has done this countless times but he failed in his main goal but that doesn't take away from his genuis. Thats like saying Alber Einstein who is without a doubt a genius had a main goal of being president and since he failed at becoming one he is a retard and not aas genius as everyone thinks. That is flawed logic and I can tell you are clearly not a good judge on measuring intelligence since you severly lack intelligence in the first place you moron

Kishimoto keeps adding fuel to the fact that Itachi has the most raw intelligence in the manga imo.

It's almost too much at this point.
