Fail. Maddy was dead by the time Obito launched his assault. I didn't use it to hype Minato I used it to dehype Itachi :)

Minato was more dehyped.

the only character he actually defeated turns out to be a 14 yr old.
and despite it being his own student he still suspected it was madara and obito didn't even have to try and fool him.

Minato didn't so whats ur point?

The idea of Madara being Obito crossed Minato's mind. He never dismissed the idea entirely he just decided to put it away because he's in the middle of battle. What could ever disprove the idea that Tobi was not Madara besides age? Itachi had every reason to believe Tobi was who he said he was.

We don't know if Madara was dead, and it doesn't matter, because Minato said Madara would have been dead ages ago when that was not the case. Minato was skeptical of an individual's ability to prolong their life, which is something many ninja have accomplished, and to which Itachi, being in Akatsuki with Hidan and Kakuzu, wouldn't rule out as a possibility. Moreover, you're trying to de-hype Itachi by relativity, but Minato not recongizing his own student, from like one year prior, doesn't accomplish that.

Minato was fooled well by Obito, but he doubted it was Madara at least. This thread is about Itachi though. Or, is this how you're trying to deflect away from his failings?

He was dead, you were wrong. Please re-read the manga.

Itachi was fooled. You cannot deny it. He was in a position where he was unable to even discover Obito's secrets. I would be very pleased if you could actually refute the points from my earlier post :)

No actuall you brought up minato's name in this thread. you compared his intellenge to itachi.
and i successfully retorted it.

you claimed that being fooled by the "Naruto of the uchiha" was dehype worthy and then you proceeded to wank minato
obito fooled everyone and minato isn't an exception.

so moot point.

Itachi is def one of the smartest

But -

Madara is also smart - he planned for things in advance

so is Minato - Predicted things for 16 years time

so is Orochimaru - he has knowledge of everything

i thin itachi and Minato are on top , while others come after ..

but fairly equal .

anyway - agreed

Laughable that you believe you were successful in retorting anything. You who cannot even post a manga page to back up his claims. If you actually read my posts, you would've seen that Minato was mentioned to show how Itachi should've been able to question the Obito = Madara theory; he did not. To a pre-school reader it's clear that Obito fooled some more than others. Itachi did not take up any sort of stance of skepticism over Tobi's possible identity. Others did. Learn to read.

Only because Obito was so cautious (incidentally, as a result of his immense respect for Itachi's intellect)

But sure, I'll go back to your initial points. One moment.

So Obito played the game and played him well. Agreed.

Actually i disagree Minato and kakashi were fooled more so than itachi ever was.
itachi was 4 when obito died. however kakashi who is also regarded as one of the most intelegent was his partner and shared the same eye as him.

What me and the others are trying to say is being fooled by obito is not really dehype worthy, becasue TBH it didn't matter who it was. and your reasoning is crap.

@bold. Ignoring the troll bait.

As if it was something simple to discover? You say it as if someone were able to do a better job under the circumstances. Even the kages couldn't work out anything to discover Tobi's real identity. The relevance of his identity was also unimportant but his intentions.

O and for the record it's not clear if Itachi was decieved or not because here theres a scan of Itachi calling him Tobi right before he died.

Na he didn't need to work out that it was Obito just that it wasn't Madara. Itachi spent the most time with Tobi really so he shouldve done better than most people but he didnt at all. He called him Madara more times before that unless ur saying that he was lying to Naruto on purpose which isn't true.

6. Not the official translation and you know it.

Irrelevent to bold the claim of Itachi hardly having to be taught at all.

10. VIZ scan Itachi was merely 'different' not on a different level.

Irrelevant to Kabuto underestimating Itachi's potential threat to his plans.

11. Laughable. Itachi was manipulated by 'one-in-databook-intelligence' Obito.

Itachi was manipulated by a 30-year-old Obito. (It was Minato that encountered the 14-year-old Obito.)

All in all this is possibly the most biased thread i've ever seen, with all of Itachi's failings being omitted.

Please recite the failings of a child pitted against main antagonists that somehow invalidate his innate intellect.

You listed Itachi being able to find a weakness of Edo Tensei as if other shinobi ever had the opportunity to try and eliminate it themselves.

No other ninja mentioned a theory as to how to permanently defeat Edo Tensei. That's a fact.

Alot of it isn't really relevant. For example, he 'amazed Obito' as if that's a monumental achievement.

Obito stating that Itachi "never ceased to amaze him, even in death" is a huge note to his intelligence. Who's biased now?

Of all the notable geniuses, none have failed as much as this man

Nor have they accomplished as much.

who by all means even admitted to his shortcomings and overestimation by followers.

I addressed this already. If Kabuto had overestimated Itachi, he wouldn't be trapped in his own mind right now.

Those didn't prove anything to be honest? He created some sort of jutsu? Please...

Itachi was given his Ms at age 13, He was only able to take out his clan because obito was their to help him.

He took out the eye's of nagato's summons? You need to remember that he knew nagato since he was 13 year's old, up till the day he died at age 21 i think.... He could have seen all of his movies and techniques very easily.

Like he stated himself he failed, what's the point in a plan if it fail's that's the way i see it. He gave more power to the person who hates the leaf village the most "Sasuke".... He failed in his plan. He's shown some feat's but people overrate him incredibly

Another thing people seem to forget is that itachi is at a massive advantage in battle due to his sharingan. The word Genius get's used in naruto way to often if you ask me..... We've seen Rock lee, Garaa, Sasuke and Neji get called a genius as well... Now are they? Well it depend's in what context let me explain.

If you think back to the "Sannin Showdown" Jiraiya said " What's the point in training a boy that's born a genius to being with". Now he can't be talking about his intelligence because he wouldn't of known, he's talking about his ability to obtain power due to his sharingan.

Now when most people talk about being a genius they talk about power. You see allot of people overrate sasukes intelligence a mean people see him in the diedara fight and think wowwww he's amazinggggg then he does stuff that are completely stupid and he's easily used. Now .... Think back to the fight! he only won because of his sharingan, i'm referring to the fact he could see the bombs under ground, His hang sign's which allowed him to tell he was an earth user & the tiny bombs that were disposed in to the air.

Now some people may argue that it's his abilities so you can't hate, I agree although what i'm saying is that those are thing's that help sasuke improve at a incredible pace much faster than most ninja and also give's him a massive advantage in battle. Now the way he acted in the fight and being able to trick diedara for me was nothing.... he basically seen all of his ability and moves without him knowing then the anime made a big thing like it was amazing that he tricked him?

A mean ... It's like getting a shadow clone to hide in the bushes and shouting out what you're going to do and wondering how the other person knew...

Point i'm trying to make is it's so much easier for Itachi and sasuke in a battle because they have such an advantage not even to the fact were they get giving power but i'm talking about basic sharingan. When you put them against people like Minato, Kakashi people who don't rely on special eye's and can still fight at their level are the real genius. i Understand that kakashi has sharingan but he's still the best analyzer in the manga.

It's much easier to analyze your opponent when you can see all his movement's and chakra. Thing's that other ninja can't, which is why he's so successful have the time. He's able to see thing's other's can't so it's easier for him to make decisions, i wouldn't call it Intelligence.

That's what genius is in the manga. It's the counterbalance to learning through effort, and Itachi quite effortlessly mastered as many ninja areas as Hiruzen in the databooks, and invented techniques that individuals with even Obito's level of knowledge don't understand. No other ninja has as impressive a mixture of insight, perception, manipulation, eclectic mastery, and inventiveness. Many great geniuses have those traits, but only Itachi possesses them all.
