I love Chouji. His character is the most honest, likeable and realistic character in the manga, he goes through genuine character development unlike a fair few of the main characters and in the Jirobo fight he goes from just being the weak comic relief fatass to a genuinely lovely character who you feel guilty for not liking and dismissing immediately. Then in the war he becomes a true legend and the strongest K11 member excluding Team 7.

I like him, but he's not my favorite.

I'll give him an 8. He's part of the Konoha 11 (or 12 or 10) so that grants him points. He's also very strong. Not the sharpest tool in the shed from what I know about him, but that's why they have Shikamaru on the team.

He used to struggle with his weight a bit though, but he's genuinely a good person. Didn't like him that much in the beginning until his fight with Jirobo. Things went uphill for him afterwards imo.

So all around I like him as a secondary protaganist.
