Exactly, and then there are the likes of Samui, Atsui and Yamato who were captured just to get released once everything was over. Now I'm not the kind of person who likes deaths for the sake of deaths, but they were in a war for goodness sake.

I remember someone saying back when the manga ended that you feel bad for the (few unfortunate) dead characters rather than happy for those who survived. That's exactly how it felt to me too.

Killer Bee, Kakashi and Guy had targets written on their goddamn heads. Relevant and in the way of the plot. Hell I would've killed randoms in the background too. Mifune? Cee? Akamaru? Why not.

nice list, totally wanted to see a madara vs hashirama.. even the episodes of hashirama's flashback of him growing up alongside madara and their last fight was shorted.

Well, a few randoms died with the HQ (and some of them, like the poor Mabui, weren't even mentioned). But then again, do we truly have a reason to feel bad for them? If anything, you feel bad because they didn't get to develop in any way before they died.

Also, add Onoki and/or A to the list of those who had targets on them. I even used to predict that they would die.

Edit: oh and I always found it funny how the last we see of Cee is him running the hell away. Must have run far, I say, seeing how he's yet to show up in Boruto

How is the Obito thing a sin on Kishi's part? That's like saying Hagoromo not splitting the inheritance evenly to save the world is a sin. Killing Obito without any actual closure is just leaving something unfinished for shock value.

If Kaguya didn't happen and Madara started kicking ass like he made it seem he would, he would have been fine.

Unpopular opinion but I liked Susano'o Kakashi, it's not like there was much else to add to the mistake that was the Kaguya fight.

I don't remember the Minato wank taking an arc. If it did, it sure was forgettable.

How the **** did Kishi let Ohnoki live? He had the most reason to die simply because of age. Just make him die trying to do good and fail.

You forgot Neji's death. Random because he was irrelevant to the war and also because he died to such a lame jutsu.

Izanami was a deus ex Machina, agreed. Kishi should have used Kabuto more afterwards though.

Okay, quite a bit to unpack here. In my mind this is the perfect place to cut off the war. Deal with the rammifications and development elsewhere back in the village before VOTE2. Obito didn't need that last chunk of development to be honest, as much of a favourite as he is. It was all very clear in his poetically handled defeat and regrets.

They were just throwing so much at us at this point. This was the point I upped and left the forum until the manga was done. It was BS because it had already been established in the dialogue that Susanoos were helpless against Kaguya. It also reverted the team dynamic back to the Land of Waves arc and this is nostalgically lame IMO.

Boy this was heavy. He was shown off to be stronger than Hashirama and Madara in this one arc only. Stuff like slicing Obito instantly, pulling Kyuubi Chakra Mode out of his ass and the 100 rescues/attacks he did that were basically all just the same thing. The second he shows up on the battlefield it's with this odd smug look? Which rubbed me the wrong way back in 2013 because Bee and the alliance finally looked like they were about to come into their own.

He was hyper-relevant to Madara also. This was the resting place for him tbh, I also would've killed all of them to be perfectly honest. Maybe keeping Gaara alive? Maybe? We needed stakes and they all got savagely shook and added nothing to the battlefield when they rejoined it.

I'm chill with the fact Obito and the 10 tails (a worthy opponent) was able to introduce some stakes. The sin for me is that they didn't keep up this escalation of casualties and as a result, Neji's demise DOES seem really random and forced, if it had been the first in a row of casual deaths then I don't think anyone would really have a problem with it but Hyuuga fans. Neji's shafting is a sin of all of Shippuden, not just the war.

Same page on this. I love his Gaiden send-off but he could've aided the Hokage in the fight against Edo Madara considering it was him who made him. Hell, give him a small fight scene VS Kinshiki or something to hype the Ootsutsuki's strength.

See but it would've been fine if the killings had continued. To elevate the war into actual stakes and make Obito's 'You can't save everyone' speech make sense. Instead everyone hangs around the battlefield doing nothing, not seen on panel for months at a time until the series ends.
