If i recall he was looking for an right time to appear, and it seem that you would also need to be able to summon his soul.

He is still dead.

But it's like today's world, people want god to intervene and do something to stop all this death and anger, but if god did this what would happen to our so called free will.

we are humans we have the right to choose the outcomes of our lives, if the world is in a horrible shape, then we should all come together and fix it, not god.

In my honest opinion, I think the fact that the world we live in today is separated is the main cause of this problem, if we were to come together like the alliance in the Narutoverse, come together to form 1 system, we could have save a lot of people and prevent a lot of future wars.

but that's just me rambling on,

the sage was naive, not stupid, but naive. He had too much trust in humans. That's all.
I agree with everything except the sage being naive. People in his era were in war constantly, so he tried to teach ninshuu so people would have peace by understanding each other, but people chose ninjutsu over peace. They wanted power.

On another note, I'm a Rikudou Sennin fan. I believe he's the strongest because he defeated the Juubi, albeit not alone. Once sealing the complete Juubi inside him, he became more powerful than anyone else. We know from what Kurama said the Juubi's strength can't be measured so Hagoromo would have been the strongest.

Kaguya was stronger, Hagoromo stated so himself.
