Looks: Kushimaru is both very thin and tall in stature, giving him an overall gangling appearance. He had long, shaggy light-coloured hair. Due to his service within the ANBU, his face is concealed by a white porcelain mask, with a darker-coloured triangle on its lower half, slits for eye holes and Kirigakure's symbol carved on its top. His attire consisted of a sleeveless black shirt, matching pants, complete with a waist-guard, and Kirigakure's striped wrist and leg-guards. He also wore bandages around his neck much like the other members of his generation of the Kiri swordsmen.

Personality: Kushimaru is incredibly flippant, mouthing off to even the most powerful of ninjas, and he generally enjoys rubbing people the wrong way. He does mature as time goes by, but never really loses his attitude. Kushimaru is seemingly unflappable, not showing fear whether he's being attacked, Kushimaru rarely shows any seriousness. He can be serious when the situation calls for it, but he still maintains a fairly laid-back demeanor during such situations and is never without a witty taunt or comeback.

Nuibari: Kushimaru possessed the unique longsword Nuibari. With it, he was not only able to precisely pierce multiple enemies in quick succession, but also stitch them together utilising a substantial length of wire attached to the blade. This aptly demonstrated his proficient dexterity while handling this particular needle-like sword, as he was able to repeatedly catch it securely just mere moments after previously forcing the blade through his adversaries.

Ninjutsu: As one of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist, Kushimaru was one of the most powerful shinobi Kirigakure ever produced. His generation of swordsmen was even noted to be the strongest in the village's history. He was capable of using the Silent Killing technique, as seen when fighting the Third Division of the Allied Shinobi Forces while under the cover of his former colleague Zabuza Momochi's Hiding in Mist Technique.

Water Affinity: Being born in Kirigakure and quite accustomed to it's weather, made Kushimaru adapted to the hidden mist technique like Zabuza, and due to the water release being his primary and only special affinity, he is capable of using any water technique with the usage of a single handseal. His Suiton jutsus are also very fast since he is able to do Suiton with a single handseal.

Description: A technique known by Kirigakure Shinobi where the user first performs the following hand seals Ram → Dog → Rat and then they make it rain. Any chakra that comes into contact with this rain will be eaten and reduces the power of the techniques by -10 damage. This technique lasts three turns.
Note: Can only be used by biographies from the Hidden Mist.

Bat Summoning: After meeting -Taburn- Kushimaru was taught how to summon bats. After learning the ways of the Bats Kushimaru made friends with White the Bat. Kushimaru also got a tattoo of a bat on his right arm.


Background Info.
History: Amidst the battle with the Third Division, the resurrected previous generation of the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist are summoned by Pakura and Gari, under Kabuto Yakushi's instruction, with the intention of overwhelming the opposition. Amongst their number is Kushimaru, who after being futilely bombarded by various techniques, retrieves Nuibari from within a scroll in Mangetsu Hōzuki's possession. Entering the fray whilst concealed by a thick mist, Kushimaru begins a silent massacre, impaling a multitude of shinobi before bundling them together. With Zabuza Momochi's defeat, the mist clears, exposing Kushimaru to the enemy.

Other
縫い針 The Nuibari: is one of the swords of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist, wielded by Kushimaru Kuriarare. The blade itself assumes the form of a narrow "longsword" (長刀, choutou) that greatly resembles a large needle, with a long length of thin wire mirroring thread, tied to the eye located at the base of its hilt.

Nuibari's abilities: This sword is said to possess the ability to pierce all and stitch them together, clearly demonstrated by Kushimaru as how effortlessly he was able to penetrate multiple targets in a single thrust and then quite literally stitch them together in substantial bundles by simply pulling the attached wire taught. A capable user can even throw the sword with the intent of piercing a line of multiple enemies, before catching the needle at the other side and repeating the process at different angles, in order to create knots of corpses with the wire passing through the entirety, effectively creating bundles of bodies at various points along the length of the thread.
