In a dark cave, a man sat up on the floor, and looked around.
"I died, didn't I?" he asked.
"You mean "were killed". It's obvious you died, but your curiosity makes it seem as though it was not intentional."
The man who awoke picked up a pair of glasses and stood up. As he put them on, he said, "The old man was strong."
"Of course he was; he beat up S-Class criminals on a daily basis when he was sixteen, and with age comes wisdom."
"You think a guy would slow down as they age..."
The man who was speaking to the ninja with glasses, hidden in the shadows, stirred a little. "I'm as old as the Hokage, Naine; do you think I'm slowing down?"
"You're different, boss. You're affected by the Kinjutsu. Speaking of which, where are Haito and Kū?"
"The Medic and the Brawn? We had no use for them, so there were no corpses prepared for them here."
"So they're actually dead?"
"Yes." The figure in the shadow's stirred, glaring at Naine. "Now, back to your death..."
"Don't worry, boss," Naine replied, "the Hokage's dead."
"You tell me not to worry, and then tell me he's DEAD!?"
"Whoa! The Kyuubi was extracted, and that was his cause of death."
"Did you confirm that he was dead?"
"No; the Fox killed me and my squad before I could confirm anything."
"So it was the unsealed Fox which killed you, correct?"
"Yes, sir."
"Well..." The concealed figure appeared to sit back in a high chair, just barely visible in the darkness. "We have an unsealed Fox and a possibly dead Hokage. Weather he's dead or not, the Leaf has most likely resealed Kurama."
"I'm sure he's dead, boss; I stabbed him in the stomach, and then took away a great deal of his life-force."
"Uzumaki live beyond extraction, and the Leaf has very competent healers. He could very well be alive."
"Should I go back to see?"
"No. You're staying here to work on plans for the other villages, and either jutsu to complement the Corpse Body jutsu, or a better version of our Kinjutsu. However, I will be sending someone to check out the position on the Leaf."
"How will this guy and I differ?" Naine asked.
"This man is more qualified than you. Let us just leave it at that."
"So just stay here, you runt," came a new voice as another man obscured by darkness emerged to take leave for the Leaf. "This is my mission now."

Atop the stone face of the Rokudaime Hokage, the entire village of the Leaf gathered to pay respect to their more recently departed Kage. Saiato, his wife, and two daughters stood next to the coffin, looking out over the gathered Leaf ninja. In Saiato's hands was a scarlet sphere, bearing the Leaf symbol within a flame, which held the Nine-Tailed Fox the ANBU were able to seal. Sakura then walked up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder.
"Your father lived a good, long life. The Sixth Hokage, the Second Toad Sage, he was even the Sannin of his day."
"The last Sannin of his day," Saiato responded. "Uchiha Sasuke and your mother, along with my father were considered the New Sannin, and he was the Last Surviving Sannin."
Sakura slipped her hand off of Saiato's shoulder. "He was a good man, but now he's joined his masters and teammates."
Saiato closed his eyes and slowly nodded. Sakura then retook her place among the crowd, and he stepped forwards.
"Leaf ninja!" Saiato said loudly. "This is... A tragic moment in our history, to say the least. This is a time to remember our great leader for everything he has done for us and the entire ninja world!" There was a long moment of silence as everyone remembered what Naruto had done, and candles burned. And then Saiato began speaking again.
"Leaf ninja! This is also a time of joy for us! Our leader may be dead, but the Will of Fire burns strong. The Will of Fire burns strong within everyone here, and to drown ourselves in sorrow would extinguish the flame established by the First Hokage Senju Hashirama. We need to celebrate what our Hokage has done for us, but also what we have done for our Hokages, all of them, and for the village itself! The Will of Fire does not belong to one person, but to the entire village!"
Saiato turned around, and picked up the candle on Naruto's coffin. "The Will of Fire is passed down from generation to generation, and we must recognize that the Hokage is not the owner of the Will of Fire. You all have the power, and the support of the entire village! You are all Leaf ninja; the Will of Fire will follow you forever, and it will allow you to perform tasks as great as even my father, Uzumaki Naruto. Thank you for coming, and listening. It means everything to me."

For the next hour, Saiato stood with his family next to the coffin, watching people pay respect to the deceased Hokage and listening to condolences. Once everyone except the Uzumaki's and two ANBU were gone, Saiato nodded to the eagle-masked ANBU, and he sealed Naruto's coffin within the stone face, inside a spike of his hair. Then the eagle-masked ANBU left, leaving the mask less ANBU alone with Saiato and his family.
"Do you know what we're doing with Kurama, Inohaito?"
"I do not, Saiato. All I know is I have to share memories with you and your family."
Saiato softly grunted.

"Uzumaki Saiato?" Sakura had asked, poking her head through the door to the Hokage's Office in the newly rebuilt Hokage's Mansion.
"Yes, Sakura?" Saiato responded, looking up from the sphere holding Kurama and Hashirama's necklace on the desk before him.
"Yamanka Inohaito is here to see you, to discuss militaristic memories of your father."
"Send him in." On the day Naruto had died, the son of Yamanka Ino, one of the most skilled members of her clan in the use of Yamanka jutsu from her day onwards, had come to see Saiato over his father's body. According to the Yamanka, a person's mind was still active after they died, and so he was able to extract as many memories from Naruto as possible before his mind went blank.
"Yamanka Inohaito," Saiato said, nodding as the ANBU walked in.
"Uzumaki Saiato," Inohaito said, sitting down in the chair opposite him.
"Let's skip to important stuff; sentamental stuff can wait until we're with the rest of my family."
"Of course." The Yamanka pulled out a scroll and opened it over the desk. "I would like to start with the Kinjutsu the three men attacking the village used. They compared it to a technique used by some man named 'Uzumaki Nagato'. Family relation?"
"No. Nagato was an S-Class criminal who held the Rinnegan whom my father convinced was going down the wrong road to peace, and then returned life to everyone in the village whom he killed. An infamous technique he used was known as the Six Paths of Pein, which he used to control six corpses at once, which each held one-sixth of his power."
"The jutsu these men used allowed them to transfer their soul to another corpse as they died."
"Combining Nagato's resurrection jutsu with the Six Paths of Pein... Very dangerous if used with powerful ninja."
"They also had an unknown technique which hid the corpses where ever they wished, without anyone being able to sense them. It's assumed to be some type of Fuuinjutsu, but it could very well be Space/Time."
"What was their objective?"
"To create peace. They wanted to eliminate every village to eliminate the Balance of Power, and Naruto assumed to have one large nation under little to no leadership."
"Well that's just chaos," Saiato responded.
"Who Naruto assumed to be the leader, an unnamed ninja with glasses, explained that there were seals to wipe clean the forest and send it back to desert, though none of our sensors can find such seals. A single master seal is needed to activate the technique at this point in time. He also explained that if Naruto tried to reason with him and see this in a different light, the seals would be set off, meaning they knew about his power with words."
"My father was infamous for defeating powerful ninja without touching them."
"Indeed."
"Anything else?"
"That you should know that isn't sentimental? Not at this time."
"No boss? No other men working with them?"
"Not to Naruto's knowledge. He believed at one point that there were more, until it was explained that the tags were already set and the ones to place the master were the ones he was fighting."
"Alright. Thank you for your time, Inohaito."
"Of course, Saiato-sama."

Back at Saiato's home, Inohaito finished showing the Uzumaki family all of Naruto's memories concerning them, any major battles he was in, and anything he had stored which the family asked.
"Thank you again, Inohaito," Saiato's wife said. "We needed to see that."
"I remember everything I took in from Hokage Naruto-sama; if any of you ever want to see something from his past, just ask me."
"We'll keep that in mind, Inohaito," Saiato said. "Thank you again for coming by."
As Inohaito left, Saiato pulled a cloak over his shoulders.
"Now where are you going?" Saiato's wife asked. "You're not even going to stay with us after what happened?"
"I'm sorry, but Sakura wants me to meet her and the elders at the Hokage's Office to discuss Naruto's successor." As his wife crossed her arms, Saiato leaned forwards and kissed her cheek. "I'll be back as soon as I can." Saiato then disappeared in a flash of his golden hair as his wife stared out the open door.

"Sakura," Saiato said, nodding his head to the Medical Ninja. "Elders," he said, taking his seat across from the desk which the three elders sat behind.
"You know why you're here," the oldest Elder said. "We are to select the Nanadaime Hokage. Personally, I wished to succeed Nii-san, but I am too old to properly fill his shoes."
"Which is why we have come to a decision," another Elder said. "We have decided to hand down the title as an inheritance."
"You want me to be Hokage?" Saiato asked.
"Not exactly," Sakura interrupted. "We planned to have a competition."
"Well then, it's not an inheri-"
"Between you and your siblings."
Saiato froze, soaking in what had been said. He hadn't seen his brother and sister for ages, and wondered where they were.
"My brother is dead; he cannot compete. And my sister... No one knows where she is."
"I do," came a voice from the doorway. Saiato slowly turned around to see a young woman standing behind him, long, straight blonde hair and a fierce look in her eyes.
"Tsuyo..." Saiato's sister walked up and took a seat in the empty chair next to him. "But you're-"
"A squad of ninja tracked me down; said dad's dead. So I came with them to take the title which is rightfully mine."
"'Rightfully yours'? You left the village almost twenty years ago, and I doubt you even know if-"
"-Nii-san is dead? I know. News of someone like that dying spreads. And I'll tell you right now why the title of Hokage is rightfully mine; since our older brother is dead and cannot take the title, it should go to Daddy's Little Girl. You're just the forgotten middle child, Saiato."
"I stayed with dad!"
"To try and get the acknowledgment from dad you never got as a child because it was soaked up by Nii-san and myself. You're just a charity-case, and it's time for the true heir to become Hokage."
"I'm glad you see it that way," came a new voice from behind. Everyone turned to look in the doorway to see a man who very much resembled Naruto in his prime; the figure the previous Hokage took on in his aging jutsu Sakura gave him.
"Because Oldest Son beats Daddy's Little Girl."
