Despite his age, Naraku has maintained a surprisingly youthful appearance. Ever since he was young, People have remarked on Naraku's stunning appearance. The most common titles given beside Naraku are “gorgeous” and “beautiful”. People have believed, his youthful appearance comes from a transformation technique similar to the Sannin Tsunade, however, for as long as Naraku has been alive, he's always maintained a graceful appearance. At his current age of 50, Naraku possesses the appearance of a young 23 year old. Having been raised as the adopted child of a lower noble family related to the Daimyou of the Water Country, Naraku appearance is very regal it's obvious that he comes from nobility. While within his manor outside the confines of Kiri or is simply off duty as a shinobi, he wears a very elegant purple Kimono with yellow and green ribbon patters on the sleeves of his robe. Naraku has long stunning black hair, which he keeps tied down in a ponytail. His hair nearly reaches waist length and his and the bangs come down across his forehead just above his eyes. As stated previously, Naraku's appearance is of that of a 23 year old, making his skin is very smooth and fair appearing very young with no wrinkles anywhere. Above Naraku's eyes he wears a light lavender eye shadow, which further emphasizes his royal status. As Naraku was not born into the family that now claims him, many of his traits differ from his adoptive parents, primarily in his personality and his menacing blood crimson eyes. Naraku's red eyes have commonly been mistaken for the Sharingan by many and still do occasionally by shinobi who encounter his eyes. Though the reasons for this confusion comes from lay mainly with the aura given off by Naraku whenever somebody looks directly into his eyes. Naraku's eyes are cold as ice of any compassion and emotion except for what many believe is pure evil. Even as a child, grown men and shinobi alike have felt chills from Naraku's eyes which is often enough graced by an equally cynical smile which is signature of the boy. Over the years however, Naraku has learned to tame the way people see this malice and evilness in his eyes to the point only those capable of sensing the true intentions of the heart can truly tell of Naraku's malevolence, an ability only to have been shown by few Jinchuuriki of the Kyuubi. Naraku can even put people at ease when looking into his eyes, a completely opposite feeling of the previous darkness that resides.
As a shinobi, Naraku tends to be rather secretive and hide his true appearance from people. Being of a noble background, his parents originally protested to him becoming a shinobi, for fear of his safety, but at the request of the Mizukage, Naraku was permitted into the shinobi academy. Though originally for his parent's sake, Naraku would wear a mask or conceal himself in someways while on missions in order to prevent people from acknowledging him as the son of a noble family and attempt to kidnap him. It was a very tedious thing, as the more Naraku became stronger his missions would most likely be life threatening regardless of who he was. However, Naraku grew to become a fan of hiding his identity and one day he began to cloak and mask which he received upon killing a Konoha shinobi from the Sarutobi clan, who possessed a unique baboon summon. Naraku killed both the shinobi and the baboon summon and turned it's pelt and head into a cloak and that became his signature as a shinobi. Also, being a member of the Nekura, Naraku was given a black cloak with the kanji for "Juubi" written on it. Shortly after recieving his baboon cloak, Naraku converted the black cloak of his clan into a gi type robe which he would wear under his baboon cloak during missions or, rarely, when he didn't disguise himself. As time progressed, eventually, Naraku's identity as a higher noble classman was completely unknown and irrelevant. Only those within his own village, and a select few others know truly who Naraku is in status. Even more to his mystery, Naraku's specialty has always been espionage making him a rather invisible character so to speak. Even during his younger years as a shinobi, few knew of Naraku and those who did know of his reputation could offer little more than the fact that he was a specialist in espionage. Naraku's favored tactics were his transformation technique and the various names he donned in his disguises, his most notable being Onigumo. Naraku has been called the shape shifter, having no real identity or form. Many believe him to be immortal though that isn't the case. One of the most unique and ominous features on Naraku's body would be the large spider shaped birthmark on his back. When he was found as a child by his adoptive parents, the birthmark was very small but now it almost completely engulfs his back. The origins of this birthmark are unknown to all but Naraku, even the members of the Nekura clan from which he hails, have no true knowledge on what the ominous birthmark is. It is presumed that the mark is a focal point for the evil energy of the Juubi that resides in all members of the Nekura clan though this is only an assumption from those within the Nekura..

Naraku's love only exists for him, his compassion and concern is only for his own esteem and well being. The joy he finds is in self preservation and gratification regardless of the misery or despair that plagues other. His amusement comes from watching others suffer and his sadness comes from the pure stupidity of mankind who believes love and compassion for others can overcome anything. Naraku's deepest hate as well as his deepest fear is for the emotions he feels towards others regarding love, compassion, and selflessness. Pity, mercy, love and affection, jealousy, anguish. Naraku has attempted to rid himself of these emotions his entire life, however he's failed to do so. He's shown love for his family and parents, people he's grown close to. He's drawn hatred from seeing them suffer or hurt, which affects his rational and his resolve on occasion. Naraku himself doesn't understand why he has these emotions but he despises them and fears them, as they prove to be rather hindering to him in the long run. Naraku's most vulnerable area when it comes to his emotions towards others comes towards the select few individuals he's grown close to over the years. Isabella Uchiha (Lili-Chwan), Kirigakure's First Officer and one of the most fearsome kunoichi in the shinobi world. Despite the considerable age difference between him and the young girl, Naraku has found much respect and admiration for the young kunoichi for her skill and power. The same goes for Hashirama Senju (Scorps) of Konoha, a shinobi who's skills are legendary throughout the land and whom Naraku has studied and observed on several occasions on his espionage ventures in Konoha. Along with this admiration and respect for their power, Naraku also holds a loathing jealousy towards them for their power and shame and hatred for his own weakness in comparison to them.
Naraku is also close to Keotsu, a shinobi renown for his kenjutsu excellence that can be compared to many legendary swordsmen. Keotsu's swordsmanship even surpasses most of the Seven Swordsman of the mist, including Naraku's own. The deep rooted honesty and honor Keotsu possesses is beyond Naraku's own comprehension. Though Keotsu is a shinobi, he acts as if a Samurai. Though, no Samurai Naraku has ever encountered has ever had such a perplexing affect on Naraku's mind. Naraku has often enough commented on the code of Bushido being that of a weak and pathetic sort that only leads to a fools death against true warriors who shall do whatever it takes to be victorious. In first meeting Keotsu, Naraku felt the same as with any person with such a sense of honor. As Naraku was sickened by the shinobi's behavior and saw it as a weakness, Naraku attempted several times to assassinate the shinobi, despite both being of Kirigakure. However all of his attempts failed, not from the inability of skill but from a sense of guilt for attacking an unarmed opponent. Never before had Naraku hesitated in taking own defenseless targets but with Keotsu he felt guilty and a sense of honor awoke in Naraku himself. Along with hating Keotsu, he hated these feelings that were brought up because of him. Though as time progressed his hate for Keotsu diluted and his hatred for these signs of weakness himself because of Keotsu rose.
In relation to Asura and Akuma, Naraku possess an undying loyalty towards those two above all else. Though Naraku speaks ill and mutters and things actions of betrayal and treason towards those two, Naraku is incapable of betraying those two. Asura being the Second Mizukage and and co-leader to the Nekura, and Akuma being the other head of the Nekura, Naraku feels a sense of obligation towards his two clansmen. Though in his own quest for power Naraku desprately attempts to suppress his emotions and detach himself from these emotions to focus souly on himself.
Naraku truly believes that the inward desire for one's own being is the true perspective needed to become strong. Regardless of what others think or what others expect, follow your goal no matter what it may be. No matter who it may harm, you're desires are your own, nobody has the right to tell you otherwise. Fight for yourself, right or wrong, take what you desire. Feel no guilt other than renouncing yourself. Feel no obligation besides what you owe yourself. Feel no love except the love for yourself. When your perspective is focused on one central goal you can achieve greatness. When that central goal is yourself you can achieve power beyond the heavens.

Naraku's affinity for genjutsu is truly a rare one. Though he has maintained a humble existance, his skills and prowess hidden from all, Naraku's genjutsu abilities are much stronger than any normal shinobi. His abilities in genjutsu even dwarf the average Uchiha shinobi. Despite the lack of necessity of him having to worry about breaking genjutsu, Naraku has been trained to learn how to discern even the discrete of genjutsu through minute observation.
Naraku has been trained in the one of the highest forms of genjutsu in the Ninja World (NB Genjutsu) and through his training and mastery over the illusion arts, he has gained the ability almost, effortlessly cast genjutsu unto his opponents. When it comes to his hand seal speed, Naraku has tempered his abilities with seals to the point where he can perform seals at a rate of 1/5 the speed of a normal shinobi. What this means is that, Naraku can effectively create a string of 5 hand seals in the time it would take any other shinobi to preform one. At this rate as well, Naraku's trigger speed for his genjutsu has skyrocketed due to his training.

Having proven not only his loyalty but his fenominal skill as a shinobi, Naraku was appointed as one of the Seven Swordsmen of the Mist. Having passed the grueling mission given to him by the Mizukage and gaining approval from the legendary creator of the Swords, Zoro (Caliburn), Naraku was given the sword, Shine-Tsu-Hiko, the God of Wind.
