『歴史 History』 Sephiroth was born to unknown people. Somehow Sephiroth fell into the hands of an organization called the Shinra Electric Power Company. The Shinra Electric Power Company's top scientist, on the
Shinra noticed his exceptional physical prowess and raised him to be a super-soldier. Sephiroth's success still advanced the Jenova Project, leading to the creation of SOLDIER. Shinra told him nothing of his true parentage, and he grew up believing his mother's name was "Jenova". Sephiroth felt different from other children but didn't know of the experiments that had created him.
During the Warring States Period Sephiroth was instrumental in ensuring Shinra's dominance. He rose to the rank of SOLDIER First Class and was admired and respected as a great war hero. Those in Shinra considered his strength unequaled even by other First Class SOLDIER members. Many young men, including Cloud Strife and Genesis Rhapsodos, idolized Sephiroth and sought to join SOLDIER to become heroes like him, making Sephiroth useful for Shinra as a propaganda tool.
One day, Sephiroth makes two disturbing discoveries: several pod-like chambers containing Otsutsuki Clansmen and a section labeled "JENOVA" containing a feminine-looking creature. When Zack suggests a connection between SOLDIER and the people in the tanks, Sephiroth flies into a rage, horrified that he is "different", perhaps because he was created similarly to the people in the pods. Genesis plays a part in inciting Sephiroth's madness by revealing Sephiroth was born from the Jenova Project, its goal to produce the "perfect God". Sephiroth rejects Genesis's request for Otsutsuki cells from him. He pores over the research notes in the basement
Shinra sealed the records on Sephiroth, declaring him killed in action, and rebuilt the village to cover up the incident, populating it with Shinra employees paid to act as the villagers. Afterwards Sephiroth's sanity declined. Over the next several years Sephiroth traveled the world, in search of power and knowledge to truly attain the godhood granted to him by his lineage.

- Gauntlet: On the bottom of his left forearm is the Shinobi Gauntlet. The Gauntlet was developed as a way to allow anyone to use complicated jutsu without the need for training or the requisite skills. To use, Scroll Cartridges that have had jutsu sealed into them are loaded into the Gauntlet's chamber. Within Sephiroth's Shinobi Gauntlet Kotes are Water Release: Water Dragon Bullet Technique, Wind Style: Pressure Damage, and Earth Style: Swamp of the Underworld.
- Smoke-Flash Bombs: Sephiroth makes use of powerful smoke and flash bombs capable of blocking the sight and hearing of even those with enhanced vision and auditory senses. They can also conceal disrupt B rank or below technological sensing devices.
- Absorption Arm: Built into hs iright arm is scientific ninja technology capable of creating a sphere of energy that absorbs chakra.
- Assassin's Arsenal: Sephiroth makes use of weapons known as firearms from a weapons manufacturer. He is able to wield both high caliber assault rifles, as well as handguns with great accuracy in order to kill his targets from a distance. His weapons of choice are a M4 carbine and two handguns. These guns are capable of firing Jutsu Bullets. This can be done via single fire or three round bursts from his chakra rifle or by firing his pistols, creating bursts up to 3 meters large.
