This is the only prediction i will ever make on how the series ends, and you can pretty much take it to the bank.
-In this thread you will read how the series will end, and why. I will defend Kishi and the Edo Arc (i never thought i would say those words)
And i will talk about a possible third Naruto series. If this sounds like a boring thing to read about, simply stop reading it.
First of all i need to menition the biggest upset in the manga, Sasuke will becoming the 6th Hokage. It will happen-
Not only will it happen but he will become the greatest Hokage of the village, greater even then Hashirama himself. I will tell you why in a bit.
Now, lets talk about the Edo Arc, the most hatet arc of all time probably. I know Kishi didn't take the decision to go via the Edo Tensei route lightly, but it had to be done.
Reason 1# For the rest of eternity we would never have known if Madara/Hashirama where stronger than Sasuke/Naruto The entire purpose of the Edo Tensei arc is to show us that this generation (Sasuke/Naruto) will overcome the previous generations, and rise above the issues they had. Not only that, but they will ultimately defeat Madara and all other enemies in unity. Kishi wanted an entire war to be about this fact, so he could show how extreme the likes of Madara where. He also wanted Sasuke & Naruto to look history in the face and see first hand what i can do to villages and nations.
Kishi is making Madara into the ultimate enemy and villain so that defeating him has greater purpose, it means that we can for ever and always say that Sasuke & Naruto defeated the badest enemy if all time, thus making them the biggest heroes of all time. The same reason Hagoromo became such a hero when he defeated the biggest enemy og his time, the Juubi.
In other words Kishi is lettin no stones unturned, he wants anyone and everyone to know that current gen trumps previous gen. He was forced into this route beacause he wrote about the Edo Tensei early in the manga, thus leaving it open for speculations in the future. Now he has the chance to close the Edo Book for all time.
This brings us to reason 2
Reason 2 # Close Edo Tensei for all time-
Kishi is looking for a way to remove Edo Tensei for good, the next series will not have Edo Tensei beacause the Jutsu will be removed from existence, with Creation of All things. He made this error once (first series Edo) and had to adresse the issue in the second series.
Reason 3# Now that Sasuke & Naruto have defeated Madara and all other enemies Sasuke will become Hokage, why you ask?
Well, they are breaking the pattern that led to all hatered and war that previous generations had. Madara was promised the title of Hokage, but in the end didn't get it. So Naruto will do the thing that Hashirama could never do, give Sasuke the Hokage Title
Thus proving once and for all that Konoha accepts Uchiha, Naruto will be the one to vindicate Konoha and its fould past of the Uchiha Massacre and Madara/Izuna.
Final Reason: Itachi's dream fulfilled: Sasuke will make sure that Itachi didn't die for nothing, the sacrafice he made in killing all the Uchiha was not in vain. Konoha has never had a Uchiha Hokage, even though the founder of Konoha was a Senju & a Uchiha...
Now, why will Sasuke become the greatest Hokage of all time? Simple, his significance as a Uchiha Hokage means everything to Konoha, him being Hokage means that after 100 Years of Uchiha v Senju they have finally gotten past petty differences and now have a Uchuha Hokage. Plus the experience Sasuke has is immeasurable. He would have fought and defeated the greatest enemies in the history of the Manga, and this together with his best friend, Naruto. Sasuke now has acknowledgement from Hashirama himself, and even his Jutsu, plus Naruto never giving up on him. And the fact that Itachi was loyal to Konoha at heart, this put together will make Sasuke realize that he is the one that can bring about change to Konoha, with Naruto.
In the end- There wont be a fight between Naruto & Sasuke, that would just prove that everything they have fought for in this war was wrong. Like i mentioned, they will be the ones to break the pattern. Madara & Hashirama fought, and what did it bring? Only war and misery. Naruto & Sasuke will grow above this.
The third Series: Naruto the 7th Hokage: Naruto will eventually become Hokage, but it's later on in life. The thirds series will enter when Naruto is Hokage. But will not focus on Naruto & Sasuke, but a new generation of kids of Konoha, this time unified as one, Uchiha & Senju. And not to mention that Uchiha & Senju blood is now mixed, and its a normal thing. There will be new Sharingan type hybrid eyes and other kekkei genkai. Enough time has now passed so that Uchiha & Senju kids have grown up and thats where the arc will start.

For the record i'm not an Sasuke fan, nor an Naruto fan, so this is a neutral prediction. I simply feel that Sasuke & Naruto are being written by Kishi a manner that is leading to this prediction to become the ending of the series.
