The blade itself is indestructible, making it quite effective in blocking and deflecting incoming attacks from basic weapons. Anything above a B-Rank attacks would hit the sword out of the users hand but, it can't block it. If, benihime is unsheated it will cover itself with lava. This only works when the sword is in one of the users hand and they state that they are doing so. The user is able to imbue their charka into the sword coating it with lava this ability is activated by saying: "Okiro Benihime" , though the lava turns crimson due to the sword's compatibility with the element. The crimson lava increases the damage of basic kenjutsu attacks by 15+, This ability lasts for up to four turns and can be activated once per every battle. Benhimes capabilities are quite simple. The second ability: Nake, Benihime the user utters those words  inorder to activate it, enabling the user to release a horizontal or vertical shockwave of intense fumes and magma by waving the sword (which is the highest form of lava and also the hottest) The third and last ability of Benihime is that she is able to create two 15 foot magma tendrils in the opponents vicinity (just outside short range), they erupt from the ground after the user stabs benihime into the soil, and after erupting they violently attack the target melting them on impact, the user utters; "Shibari, Benihime" enabling the sword to perform it.
