Garou begins by drawing out a plain katana from his left hip and letting it fall blade first into the ground. As he does this he addresses the man before him. You look like one of the heroes I'm hunting. Let's see how tough you really are.... As the blade strikes the ground it effortlessly submerges and abruptly emerges few seconds later piercing through the opponent's left foot.

Description: The user takes out his sword and holds it pointing downwards momentarily before dropping it. When the sword is dropped, a genjutsu is effected where the opponent sees the sword stick into the ground(or water or whatever terrain) and fully submerge in it. A couple of seconds later, the sword emerges from the ground piercing through his foot. The opponent takes mental damage and cannot move from the spot due to the illusion.

After placing his opponent under an illusion, Garou molds chakra in his mouth and shoots a bolt of lightning aimed at his opponent's torso. He keeps his eye on the opponent at all times, anticipating a counter of sorts.

[Sub]With his arms folded across his chest and a stoic expression upon his face, Jiren stood his usual Herculean stance. The scenery before him was one to marvel. From his point of view, below him, there was about a 25 meter drop, wherein cascaded a waterfall. Far to his left was a dense population of trees and mountain peaks. Conversely, to his right, the waterfall pooled into a river, and above that, there were several earthen structures - which by some phenomenon appeared to float in the air. And above him, the sky was cloudy, but with inconsistencies; here and there were the showings of a clear blue sky, and far into the horizon illuminated a golden light. However, none of that mattered to Jiren. What did was the figure that stood before him - or more accurately, his defeat. Clad in a tight black shirt, loose white pants, and sporting a head full of long, jagged, silver hair, his appearance was nothing short of wild. Jiren's big, round, black eyes with enlarged pupils met the comparatively smaller, yellow eyes of the man that stood on the platform opposite him.
His now opponent drew out a sword and let it fall into the ground. What should have been a simple clatter against the ground turned into a submergence. This peaked Jiren's curiosity; he quickly activated his chakra sensory, taking note of his chakra flow and his opponent's. Before he attempted to scout the location of the sword with his sensory, he sensed the disturbance in his own chakra flow, which immediately connoted that he was under an illusion. So with haste, he pulled out a kunai, and made a 10 cm incision on his right upper thigh to dispel the genjutsu in just enough time to see a lightning spear released from his opponent's mouth. To counter this, he simply exhaled a ball of wind at the lightning spear, and since both elements travel relatively at the same speed (ninja word wise), they met half way and cancelled each other out. It was now time for Jiren to take the offensive. The instant both jutsu's negate each other, he gives the opponent a taste of his own medicine by placing him under a genjutsu of his own. Within this, the opponent would see and hear a chain of explosions take place within close proximity around him. In addition, the ground he stood on would also begin to collapse, thereby causing great panic at the sudden chain of events. Of course this all but a trick of the mind; in reality, whilst this happens, Jirens releases 4 explosive kunais at the man - two aimed at his upper chest, and two at his feat. If not countered accordingly, these would explode upon contact and make quick work of him.
(Chakra Henkanshi no Jutsu) - Chakra Sensing Technique

Description: This is a very advanced of advancing the ability to feel and sense chakra. The technique allows the user to concentrate and detect someone's chakra. Users can use this to determine the nature of a jutsu used as well as sense masses of chakra. The use of this can be compared to Sharingan's brutish level of sensory, able to sense collection of chakra but not the level of clarity and precision Byakugan has.
Note: Can only be used by bios with Sensory ability.
Note: After having on a bio for 1 month, users gain the ability to activate Sensory passively.
(Fūton: Gōkūhō) - Wind Release: Great Vacuum Cannon

Description: This is a technique that can be cast on multiple targets. The user creates an illusion where their target(s) experience several explosions going off near and around them. The ground around and beneath the target(s) will begin to collapse and cause panic and mental damage from the perceived reality of the explosions. The technique, however, is weak when cast upon multiple targets as it only takes one individual to release the technique for large groups of people.
Note: This technique can be cast on multiple targets but when done it only takes one person to release the technique for all parties involved with genjutsu kai. However all members need to be within short range distance.
Garou was absolutely loving his battle. In an instant his opponent had nullified his previous attack and also triggered some kind of explosion. With no idea of where the explosions came from and no immediate counter to the perceived assault Garou immediately protects his self by crossing his arms in front of himself as he leaps up and backwards in an attempt to evade the explosions before any real harm can be done. Not wanting to put anymore distance between his opponent and himself, Garou tilts his head to the left and releases a stream of wind which causes him to move in a direction perpendicular to his foe. He lands on the mountain's side, anchoring himself with a kunai to avoid slipping.

The moment he lands, however, Garou makes the ram handseal, manipulating chakra in the hand he wasn't going to anchor himself with. He then raises his hand toward the sky causing an electricity to attack his opponent from the sky
(Raiton: Dai Denki hōden no Jutsu) - Lightning Release: Large Electrical Discharge Technique

Imp you say that his counter to the genjutsu is free-form, which it is, but him jumping backwards would allow for him to evade the kunai you threw since they are also free-form. Imp, he is free to act as if the genjutsu is real and jump away, but the thing about this is that he wouldn't have released the genjutsu and would still experience its effects and be damaged health wise. If he said that he wanted to avoid the damage of the explosion and used the wind to get out of range that would have been fine, but he didn't. So since he would end up anchoring himself to the earth with a kunai while he would still be under the genjutsu, I believe it would cause him to fall to his death since he would see the ground collapsing still.
