Each country has its own laws, traditions and customs. No matter how strange you may find them it's best to be aware of what is considered an ill manner, taboo, or a crime abroad. For example, some are so used to tipping in cafes that they do it everywhere, although in Japan such act would be treated as an offence. Others sincerely present their Ukrainian friends with even flowers without counting them while the even number of flowers can be brought only to the cemetery. This is a collection of travel mistakes that people do abroad. Always remember to research your travel destination before leaving...

France - In fact, asking about money is impolite in many countries but French sometimes treat this especially critically.

Ukraine - People in Ukraine as well as in most Slavic countries bring even number of flowers to the cemeteries.

New Zealand - Honking in New Zealand is often used when intended to insult another driver pointing out that you strongly disagree with his or her actions.

India - Kissing or holding hand are also forbidden being considered as something highly inappropriate to do in public.

Japan - Japanese are proud to provide the best service as standard without waiting for the tips.

Mexico - Locals love to make jokes and they are generally fun and innocent, so treat it that way.

Norway - Many people don't go to church at all and such question would be rude to ask.

Turkey - This is an obscene gesture in Turkey.

UK - Such behaviour is usually condemned.

Ireland - Locals don't think they have any accent at all. There are only accents of other parts of Ireland that they recognise as such.

Germany - People believe that the person may not live to the birthday if congratulated with it beforehand.

Kenya - Only do it after someone has called you by the name first.

Chile - Manners matter here.

Singapore - Also don't feed birds, and don't throw garbage and don't spit on the street.

USA - Tipping is obligatory and there are even rates of how much to tip for any service you use.

Italy - Of course, you can order it in the restaurant but in such case be ready for the surprised look of the waiter. Italians drink cappuccino for breakfast, that's the reason.

Hungary - Though it's an old habit, some people still prefer to avoid clinking glasses especially when drinking beer.

China - They are believed to bring bad luck when given as presents....

For anyone wanting to visit our country and use our roads, honking is also widely used to show appreciation.

Someone cuts you off in traffic? Give 'em a single but short toot.
Someone performs a dangerous overtake? Give 'em a single but long toot.
Someone pulls to the left in a slow vehicle lane, or otherwise allows you to overtake them? Give 'em multiple short toots.

Nothing worse than being stuck behind a campervan going at 70 km/h on a state highway.

Would you eat such an indigestible thing after lunch? Lol but it's still nothing, I've seen tourists who ate a whole Four Cheeses Pizza at 5 PM XD

That Turkey thing is slightly wrong.

If you do the regular "okay" gesture in which you face the palm of your hand towards the person you are communicating with and hold you hand up, it is literally okay unless someone is looking for a fight for no reason (Atleast for my environment).

But if you hold your hand down and show the back of your hand, like here:

It means "gay" but in a slur-like way. That is the real offensive hand movement, the other is similar.

You know what not to do in Turkey though?

Refuse tea unless you have no time and not eating/drinking anything else.
Ask people if they are Arabs or ride camels.
Keeping your shoes on while entering a house. In some events people keep them on like house parties.
Standing still on bus. You gotta keep walking backwards as more people will keep coming from middle and front doors, this is especially important in Istanbul because it is very crowded.
Standing still on sidewalks, for similar reasons with point above.
Ask people stuff like "you are Muslims why you drink alcohol?". There are non-Muslims or Muslims who prefer to drink.
Make arguements about past atrocities of country without knowing the person. Many people do not cope with these.
rive (In Istanbul atleast). Traffic is hell and not really organized it may be hard to get used to it for a foreigner (esp. if they use left side in their homecountry), renting a car is a no way to go for tourist. If you have money for that keep it for taxi.

Most importantly forgetting to turn your coffee cup over the plate after drinking Turkish coffee. It is no way an obligation but it is nice for keeping tradition of fortune telling by looking at shapes formed in cup.
PS: Pay for fortune tellers, they will rob you for no reason. Ask a friend to look at your fortune as in this tradition often someone else does fortune telling.
