Chapter 3 – Life Is A Gamble
Spider-Man bursts from the buildings rubble as thunder bursts from the skies. He watches storm attempting to hit a flying Apocalypse who is fighting off an angry Ms. Marvel.
“Peter get to your feet! We have to do this together!” Ms. Marvel says as Apocalypse catches her off guard knocking her in the face with his knee. She hits the ground hard as Peter bursts into the sky shooting debris along with him. He hovers in front of Apocalypse whose eyes glow red with fury.
“I’ve heard the stories. Let’s see if they are true.” Apocalypse says as he teleports to Peter with a punch that wizzes by his head as Peter creates a ten tails tail that wraps around apocalypse and he throws him into the ground. Peter quickly creates a rasengan that glows red throwing it down at him. Apocalypse shoots a purple beam that hits the rasengan causing them to stale mate hallway. The ground crackles as the two attacks fight to reach their target and the heroes around them quickly move away.
“Get as many civilians away from this as possible!” Tony yells flying away with a couple.
Peter throws his hand forward grabbing his wrist yelling as the rasengan crackles with cosmic energy.
“You will soon have no reason to fight if this continues. You’ll truly lose everything. You’ll truly be alone.”
“No!... No I won’t!” Peter yells as the rasengan blazes through the beam hitting apocalypse and bursting the ground open.
“Naruto, there were people in that building.” Sakura says.
“I know but it’s gone now we can’t do anything.”
“But there were people in there!”
Naruto pauses and looks over at a panting Peter and sighs.
“I know… That’s one of the reasons to get stronger. So we don’t have to deal with this burden.”
“But you can’t save everyone. You know that right?” Kakashi asks.
The smoke clears and apocalypse is gone. Peter looks around at all the rubble from the tower. The large A glimmers brightly flickering, then finally burning out.
“Look at this. It was a symbol of a new start. Now gone again. We are at war, again. It doesn’t ever stop does it?” Peter asks Tony whose helmet reseeds down to his neck.
“It has to kid. This last time it has to end.”
“You and I both know Doom won’t stop this madness. Lives will be lost if we don’t get Naruto strong enough. Someone has to be strong enough.”
“What about your Gin friend where is he?”
“He’s far too old to be fighting he would wither away and die at the slightest injury.”
“Well then we’re screwed.”
Charleston, SC
Mystique exits a limo in a white dress, her skin in a non-mutant state. Her blonde hair is in a bun that she sticks two blue sticks into. She walks across a red carpet into the city hall that is filled with music, people and an assortment of foods.
“May I take your coat dear?” a man says approaching her with his hands open.
“No thanks, but you can escort me to the bar.”
They begin to walk through the crowd and pass by the mayor who is shaking the hands of each guest. She sits at the bar watching as he makes his way to her. He stands tall at 6 foot with brown hair and largely set. He holds out his hand and Raven shakes it smirking dearly.
“What brings you to this fine town of Charleston madam?”
“Well I’m a lady on a mission. A special mission that involves a person getting to show their true selves.”
“Is the person here? I would love to hear their story and try to help them with this problem. I was studying therapy at one point.”
“No, I’m afraid she was born with this gift. And believe me it’s a gift. The gift to see things before they happen I believe.”
The mayor’s smile slowly resides to a stern look. He grabs Ravens shoulder beginning to laugh sarcastically.
“Are we talking about a mutant? Or is this some joke you test on with guys?”
“It’s no joke mayor. Your daughter is a mutant. We both know you went to the physiatrist about it yesterday and I have to see her.”
“No. What you have to do is leave.” He then waves his arms and two security guards begin walking his way.
“And so it begins.” Raven whispers as she quickly kicks each body guard and head butts the mayor making him fall backwards. She grabs each guard’s gun and points them at the people beginning to smile. Two Doombots guard the door as Raven walks down from the bar onto the dance floor.
“Destiny Brown come join me or I will kill your father!”
A short dark haired woman in tears makes her way through the crowd and Mystique looks at her smiling.
“I know of your visions young one. Follow me so you can unlock your true potential.”
“I don’t want to. These powers are mine so I will choose what to do with them.”
“I wasn’t asking. Now get your ass in the limo.”
Doombots grab her arms and begin carrying her as a man grows into a giant out of thin air upper cutting them both.
“You should cover your tracks better. You had trails everywhere.” Scott says.
“Don’t play with me. I know Charles found out where I was.”
“Well… I helped kinda.”
“Just let her go Raven.” Charles says hovering into the building. Mystique scowls as Doombots begin to surround her.
“Let’s go Destiny”
The Doombots begin to attack and Naruto flies through the ceiling blocking her way. He wears an all-black version of his old uniform with an orange Avengers logo on his left chest and back.
“You’re one of those ninja Avengers aren’t you?”
“The names Naruto! Now let go of the girl.”
“You’ll have to beat me. In hand to hand of course.”
“This isn’t a game!”
“No, but you can’t disrespect the nindo now can you?”
Naruto charges toward her with a kunai and Mystique takes the two sticks from her hair, uncapping them revealing two thin blades. They clash blades making Naruto’s kunai break and a cut on his shoulder as she launches forward. He rolls forward onto the ground and jumps spins into a kick sending her flying into the wall. She drops to the ground on one knee and flips her head up just in time to block a kick with her forearm, She throws one of her knifes at Naruto’s head destroying the clone and she turns stabbing the Naruto behind her in the chest destroying that one as well.
“Why can’t you people just mind your business? My brotherhood has nothing to do with you!”
“You can’t take people away from their lives for something like that! It’s not your choice!”
Mystique turns to face him and he creates 10 clones that surround her in a circle. Her appearance then changes to Naruto as the clones run forward and she spins in the air kicking two away and launching backward into two elbowing them in the face.
“Enough.” A voice whispers from the ceiling as 7 bullets fly from the sky hitting each Naruto except for Mystique who smirks as they exit the building through an underground hatch.
“Where is she!?” Sakura yells smashing a bot.
“She’s beaten the Naruto boy. He’s unconscious through the hallway on the left. I can’t seem to find mystique. She probably has on some sort of device to stop me from finding her, but why didn’t she use it before?” Charles asks turning to Scott who begins to ponder.
“We should have brought the entire team. This is a much more serious matter than Tony is treating it.” Beast says.
“He let me come. I could’ve beat her! I was just held up by those Doom things and I couldn’t stop looking at Sakura’s ass. I like Sakura. Come to me, Sasuke is nothing but an afterthought after you get wit me boo.” Deadpool says. Sakura punches him out of the building in anger as Naruto slowly begins to wake, a bullet laying on his chest.
“I was shot! Ah that hurt!” Naruto yells.
“Aw too bad now you can’t be Hokage. I shall take your place. Will rule with an iron fist!” Deadpool screams cracking his wrist back into place.
“We should have brought Peter! The hell is he doing anyways? Back on vacation? In the Bahamas I bet.” Logan says slashing a bots head off.
“He’s working on a portal to the Negative Zone. That way all of you ninja can go in and out anytime you want to train. He is helping Logan. Whether you think so or not he deserved a little time off the radar.” Steve says.
“You agree though right? Tony doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing regarding these teams and you do. Just like I heard you set your teams up back in the ninja world. You should be the head honcho.” Beast says.
Avengers Mansion
“Can’t believe this. You let her get away!?” Tony yells.
“If you had did a better job with the teams…”
“So you’re too weak to handle it Logan?”
“Watch it bub.”
“Alright everyone we are going to come to an agreement here. One of us needs to make these teams a bit more lethal. You aren’t the one to do this Tony. You’re catering to your own whims and Naruto was shot because of it.”
“No he was shot because he’s an idiot. Why didn’t you just rasengan her idiot? Oh yea cuz you’re an idiot.” Deadpool says.
“I’m not an idiot!”
“I’m going to bed just make Steve the leader and call it a night.” Beast says walking away.
“So that’s what everyone here wants. A new leader.” Tony says crossing his arms,
“Yes actually that would be a good idea. Considering how much you have been keeping up with when it comes to the plan. Steve should be handling the missions and the overall final choices.” Kakashi says.
“Fine. There will be a vote tomorrow but for now all the ninja gather to see Peter in the lab, Sector 2, and don’t touch anything or you’ll kill us all.”
“Welcome to Sector 2.” A female voice says greeting the ninja that walk through the sliding doors. Peter stands in front of a giant 100 ft. metal ring that hovers in the air.
“Heck of a site isn’t it. Reed built it himself. A portal to the Negative Zone.” He says.
“It’s a large metal ring.” Sai says.
“Thanks captain obvious. It’s not on yet so it’s not doing anything cool but if it was we could enter it and go to the Negative Zone.” Peter says.
“What’s there? Another planet?” Tenten asks.
“Well, it’s another universe entirely. Time moves slower there and if we stayed there for a day, only a few seconds would pass by here.” Peter.
“You serious!?” A asks surprisingly.
“Yes, it’s a chance for you all to train to get your energy levels as close as mine as possible. And where Naruto will surpass me.”
“Surpass you? You have all ten of the beasts how would that be possible?” Tobirama asks.
“I pass them on to him. Well, most of the chakra of course. Then Gin and I train him to use cosmic energy. To use it alongside his ninjutsu to create attacks he never dreamed he could do.” Peter says.
“Would it be enough though? To defeat Sasuke to Defeat Doom…”
“We gotta try something Naruto. This is the only way I could think of for now until Strange wakes up.” Peter says.
“I don’t think you understand the situation. We need to be finding Sasuke before he even gets a chance at getting that damn powerful! Even if you want to fight him at that strength Naruto this has to end now.” Minato says.
“Trust me we’re doing everything we can to find out their whereabouts and when we do all of the Avengers X will be there to stop them.”
“Avengers X?” Tsunade asks.
“Yes it’s the new name for our team. Since we are teamed up with the X-Men for this one.”
“Not sure I like the name. Sounds like a parody ya know. One of those parody’s heh heh.” Deadpool says.
“What are you doing even here!?” Temari asks.
“I wanna go to the Negative Zooooone! Pleeeeeease Spidey ya gotta let me go man don’t leave me here it’s so boooring.”
“Fine! Just keep your mouth shut and do as I say. If you wander off and get killed it’s your own fault.”
“Yes! Now Sakura and I can spend more time together. Just don’t let my main chick Death find out. She get mad mayn.”
“Ugh this is gonna be a drag now.” Shikamaru says as the portal begins to boot up with a large thunderous crackle. Blue beams shoot from each edge one by one meeting at the center. They swirl into a circle turning into a mist that reveals a starry sky.
“Before we go… Nick I need to tell you something.” Peter says.
“Is this about Deadpool? Look you don’t gotta take him…”
“No it’s about the battle against Thanos.”
“Ok. Did Loki say if Thanos was after the Gauntlet again or not?”
“This isn’t about that this about what happened a few weeks after the battle. I met with death and we had a talk…. A talk about the future.”
Okinawa, Japan
“Thank you Spidey-Man! Miser Spidey thank you!” A civilian says as she holds her daughter dearly as the apartment buildings in front of them burn.
“No problem ma’am.” Peter says then flying into the sky. He makes his way to a rooftop when he begins to sense something approaching him. He quickly turns to see a hooded figure on the edge of the building as if it was about to jump.
“Hey get away from the ledge you might…”
The figure suddenly turns hitting Peter with a gas that instantly knocks him unconscious.
Peter wakes up without his mask in a cold sweat, laying in a puddle of cold water.
“You’re awake. Welcome to the caves of Okinawa.” The hooded figure says.
“You’re Death aren’t you?”
“You catch on quickly. So you must know why I am here.”
“You want me to free Thanos. Why don’t you just do it yourself? You have the power to.”
“It’s not that simple Peter Parker.” Death says removing the hoodie to show the face of Gwen Stacy.
“What are you trying to do by using that face? Are you trying to anger me? Is that what you want? Is this your revenge for locking away your titan?”
“No, I am only here to show you what will happen. IN these coming years there will be pain. You can turn that into victory.”
“Why the hell should I listen to you? This is probably one of your tricks. Bringing people back to life and making them make an impossible choice. You’re evil.”
“No Peter. I am not on the dark side nor the good side. I even the odds. The odds of death.”
“I can even my own damn odds. Without your help.”
“Hear me out or every single ninja on your team will see their planet destroyed.”
Peter stops walking towards the cave exit and turns to look at Death who has taken the form of Mary Jane.
“You want that to happen Peter Parker?”
“Of course I don’t”
“Then listen to my words.”
Peter sighs and leans against the cave wall crossing his arms.
“Well then what do you have to say?”
“Each one of your teammates have tried to avoid me. One way or another you’ve each found your way to twist the odds in your favor. Venom to the mind is what your ninja are facing now. You ever heard of that reference? No? Of course not its ages old but it means to be wanting Death to greet you. They see no end to this life here. They want a way out of it. You all keep pushing them forward to work together and it’s going to break them. And when it does… It’ll cost…”
“They won’t break there are far too many ways to get them back home we will find a way whether you think so are not.”
“Do you have the power of Galactus? Can your silver surfer still travel to that distant land with his board? I bet he doesn’t even have the strength to conjure up the universory memory of that feeble planet he was watched over.”
“You know it’s him too huh. Well anyways I don’t think you know what the hell you’re talking about. You’ve done nothing but try to tell me that my friends are going to die but they aren’t and I’ll make damn sure of that.”
“And Sasuke will make damn sure you don’t.”
“Who? What do you know about Sasuke? You know where he is?”
“Of course I do my knowledge is infinite.”
“Then tell us! End this now by paying for the pain you’ve caused us!”
“Or for the pain I caused you?...” Death says as her face shifts to her generic form. A beautiful gray skinned woman with black markings about her face.
“It isn’t about me about protecting the lives of the innocent. They did nothing to deserve all of this death this war this fighting.”
“Peter you should know by now. Life is a gamble. To win you will need to allow the two ninja to face off themselves. It’s their destiny.”
“What ninja?”
“Naruto and Sasuke of course.”
“Wait a minute…. You want me to let them fight? I was right when I said you just wanted more pain.”
“No I want to end the legacy. It’s something you know nothing about for you have not travel amonst the stars to learn about it.”
“Are you telling me they are destined to face?”
“Yes, and you can’t do anything to stop it. Now either Naruto faces him and he dies or he faces him and they both die. Those are the only two choices.”
“Naruto can win…. I know he can.” Peter jolting from the wall, staring at Death face to face.
“You know nothing Peter Parker. Someone must die. Whether it be them or you.” Death says turning into a burst of mist that consumes Peter.
“So you think she’s actually telling the truth!?” Fury asks.
“We have to give it a try plus the ninja need a bit of a power boost anyways. It will help with the battle against Doom.”
“Alright then Spidey. Just do what you think is right. I believe in you.”
Each of the ninja begin walking into the portal with Hashirama being the first in line. Peter and Naruto stand in the back each looking up as the starry sky shines through the mist down on them.
“You really think I’ll be able to pull this off?” Naruto asks.
“Don’t doubt yourself when you enter into this world. Your mind will try to scramble and turn you into something you’re not. You’ll start having visions. Seeing past altercations run through your mind. Come back to us when that happens. It will happen.” Peter says.
Naruto closes his eyes as he walks through the portal thinking of what Sasuke could be going through with his training. Something painful could be happeing to him. All of the wrong things one could think of while going through that portal ran through his mind, and he begins to drift away.
“How is Sasuke’s process going?” Orochimaru asks as a giant snake slithers across his shoulders.
“He should be out tomorrow. But I did not call you to talk about Sasuke.” Doom says.
“Then what can I do for you my Lord?”
“You can tell me why you once planned to take his body.”
“Well I was dying. I needed a healthy Uchiha to support my cause.”
“Hmph. Such petty schemes. A new body you’re after and you go after something of your world? You ninja need to think outside the box.”
“Speaking of ninja what do you think the others are up to at the moment? Hiding away until we reveal ourselves?”
“That’s all they can do I’m afraid. Though they could find a way to get a hold to another celestial powered being and if they did this journey that we are on… That he is on… the father gives him something to hush him but he continues to cry he gets more but he continues to… cry… out… but that youth without age that life without death… it made him quiet. It gave him purpose. Life."
