Chapter 11 – 4
Susan, The Invisible Woman stands in the kitchen preparing dinner as Reed, Mr. Fantastic walks in the kitchen smiling.
“Got word from Tony. More survivors made it to Liberty Island.” He says. Susan looks back giving a subtle grin and Reed frowns walking next to her.
“We’re gonna save a lot of people with this thing. There’s no need to be so worried….”
“People are going to die regardless. We have to deal with that burden.” Susan says grabbing the ham from the oven and putting it on the counter.
“We’re up here eating like this while they sit down there and starve.” Susan says as Reed walks into the living room handing Ben, The Thing and Johnny, The Human Torches plates of food.
“Ah finally, this three meals of day with no snacks thing is killing me!” Johnny says quickly grabbing his fork.
“No thanks Reed. You need it more than I do.” Thing says as Reed sits on the ground.
“Hope you all enjoy. It’s the last Ham we’ve got.” Susan says.
“Any word on why Peter and Naruto decided to leave so quickly. I mean they just got to the damn Island and here they are going back out there.” Thing says.
“They aren’t trying to survive like us. They’re trying to fight back.” Reed says.
“We should be down there with the lot of them. Instead here we are.”
“We’re helping Susan. As soon as that cosmic missile leaves this ship we will have won.” Johnny says.
“You can’t possibly think it will be that precise do you?” Thing asks.
“It will be. Trust me.” Reed says.
“You and Stark must have been working day and night then. This is Apocalypse we’re talking about.” Thing says.
“We have had this on standby 4 months after the capture of Thanos. Thanos is most likely in a coma we’ve took so much energy from him.” Reed says.
“You put the man in a coma Reed?” Johnny asks.
“He’s killed innocent people Johnny. What difference is a Coma from being awake and watching complete darkness in that ball as your life passes by?” Reed asks.
“Why are we even talking about him? He deserves whatever ill will comes to him.” Susan says.
“I don’t disagree with you there Susan.” Thing says standing to his feet.
“You had something to show us Reed?” He says walking over to a large white table that sits at the end of the room.
“Oh yea the laser missile schematics.” Reed says putting down his plate and walking to the table along with the rest of the team. Reed throws a ball onto the table and it floats into the air creating a hologram of New York.
“Now this is New York City at the moment… I’ll give you a second… take it all in.” Reed says as Susan gasps watching Doombots patrolling the streets killing civilians who fight against their abduction. Watch heroes die as they attempt to fight back against the green steel Doom has created around the city.
“This is insane… we need to get that missile out there as soon as possible. More of these things are being manufactured by that thing I’m sure of it.” Thing says.
“By that thing hah!” Johnny says making Thing shake his head.
“Where did this ship even come from?” Susan asks.
“That’s a good question. We don’t know. My best bet is from space it made a decent with its shields on so we couldn’t detect it but I can’t say for sure. It could have been on Earth the entire time for all we know.” Reed says.
“This shits insane. How is the missiles shields holding up?” Susan asks.
“I was just about to get to that honey.” Reed says swiping the air making the hologram switch over to a visual of two large missiles facing down with a large blue shield surrounding them both.
“We don’t have much juice left, and we can’t draw from the missiles it’s too much of a risk and I don’t want to endanger anyone’s lives. I mean we have kids on board.” Reed says.
“Oh no Franklin and Valeria’s plates!” Susan says running to the kitchen.
“Well then… We just wait it out until we got the go ahead huh?” Johnny asks.
“Cap is sleep at the moment. I honestly don’t want to fire this thing at all, but we have no choice. Tony has made his mind.
“I mean it’s your missile as well Reed. You can tell him to go to plan C.” Thing says.
“No. It’s time for us to do our part. Besides. Tinkering with time will not prove good in any way or form in my opinion. I’ve done my research on the outcomes. It will only create chaos.” Reed says.
“I still say it’s better than blowing up that ship.” Susan says walking beside him and swiping back to the map of New York.
“I mean look at this place. It’s a mess.” She says.
“Listen everyone. This may be the last mission we fight together and… I just want to say that it’s been a pleasure being up here on this thing with you all. I mean I wouldn’t have picked anyone else to…”
“Reed!... This is a grim subject why are you thinking this way? We will surely make it with God on our side.” Susan says.
“God… You stare at this city and think of God?” Reed asks.
“I do… Now let’s all get some sleep. You never know when Tony will signal the go ahead.”
“Lee! Lee please wake back up! We have to go we can’t stay here any longer! We… we’re gonna die…” Tenten says as tears begin falling from her eyes and onto Lee’s bloody chest.
“Th… that’s enough TT! Enough crying! We have to get Lee out of here!” she says to herself as she throws lee onto her back and begins running through the sewers.
“Now how much time is it until nightfall?” She asks as she pulls out her Avengers passcode and whispers the code. She then quits running staring at the screen beginning to smile.
“So… We actually have a chance….” Tenten says as she then uses her cosmic energy to burst from the sewers and towards the island.
“Wha… where am I?” Lee asks.
“We’re heading to an island. Our team will be there.” Tenten says.
“You really think we can put up a fight… Look at what he’s done to us… to me… to them…”
“Just hold it together alright… I’ve done enough crying for the both of us today.”
“Wait… wait I… I can sense something…” Lee whispers as he jolts from Tenten’s back and kicks a cosmic blast into a tower that creates a large explosion.
“Apocalypse…” Lee says gritting his teeth.
“Your cosmic energy was as clear as day girl. Where are you fools headed exactly? You’re the second group I have come across since I awoke seconds ago.” Tenten lowers her head as if realizing her mistake and she scowls looking up at Apocalypse.
“To hell with it!” She yells throwing a smoke bomb that consumes Apocalypse in a cloud of black goo. She then uses her cosmic energy to create a large platinum sword that she then uses to cut the goo into pieces. Apocalypse laughs as he explodes with an aura of blue energy burning the goo. He grabs Tenten by the throat and throws her into Lee who sits her on the ground.
“Lee you only have one arm what the hell are you doing!?” She yells as Lee jolts towards Apocalypse with a leaf world wind. Apocalypse teleports behind Lee copying his technique sending Lee flying into the ground.
“Your fighting is atrocious. Is it because I tore off your arm?”
“You… you bastard! 6th Gate of Joy!” Lee yells as his skin turns purple and he teleports to Apocalypse hitting him with a right hook that tears Apocalypse’s jaw off and sends him flailing backwards into a bus that explodes in flames.
“Don’t force me to go any further.” Lee says going into his tiger stance.
“Ah… you think you’ve got the upper hand over me after puffing your skin with cosmic juices. Your blood disgusts me and yet you push it against the edge of your putrid skin gloating it at me!” Apocalypse says telepathically linking with Lee’s mind.
“Let’s finish this!” Lee yells bolting to Apocalypse and creating a trail of fire behind him. Lee begins to throw kicks that move at supersonic speeds and Apocalypse teleports repeatedly dodging them all as his jaw quickly grows back.
“Enough!” Apocalypse says punching Lee in the gut sending him flying into the sky. Lee holds his stomach as he coughs up blood and grits his teeth in fury.
“Isn’t the art of the ninja to…” Apocalypse is interrupted when hit by a red beam of cosmic energy and sent flying into space.
“Why did you interrupt us Tenten!? And you cut him off mid-sentence he’ll be even more pissed when he returns!” Lee says.
“Which is why we need to think of something pronto. This man is going to kill us if we don’t.” Tenten says.
“I’ve got an idea just… just back away from me…” Lee says as Tenten slowly floats towards the ground. Apocalypse teleports behind her and chops her neck knocking her unconscious as he scowls looking up at Lee.
“It’s time young ninja, for… your… death.” Apocalypse says as he slowly floats towards Lee.
“7th Gate of Shock!” Lee yells as purple lightning flickers around him. He bolts to Apocalypse in a purple stream of lightning with his fist in front of him as Apocalypse continues to float towards him with a smile. Lee’s punch collides with Apocalypse’s stomach and he flies through him hitting the ground creating a sonic boom that bursts open the Earth.
Tenten crawls from the rubble clenching her arm as Apocalypse kicks her in the face. She falls backwards onto the ground unconscious a horseman arrives in an all-black skin tight suit.
“I’ll take her to the ship. Hopefully she doesn’t awake before then.” She says picking up Tenten and throwing her on the back of the horse.
“Noooo!!” Lee yells dashing towards the horse but Apocalypse grabs him by the throat before he can reach her, and pushes him to the ground. Le grabs Apocalypse’s hands attempting to free himself but Apocalypse tightens his grip making Lee scream in pain.
“At first I thought you wanted to die but it actually seems as if you think you can win against me… ahahaha. You actually have faith!? At a time such as this!?” Apocalypse says letting go of Lee who stands to his feet.
“Now no more games. Lee am I correct? Of course I am. Go all out Lee. If you do not I will kill you. In one punch.”
Lee grits his teeth and jumps into the air sending his left leg flying downward towards Apocalypse’s face. Apocalypse smacks away his leg and Lee spins sending his leg flying back around. Apocalypse smacks away the second kick as well and punches Lee in the chest sending him twirling into the ground. Lee quickly stands to his feet and grins as Apocalypse stares at him in amazement.
“You actually survived! Can’t say you will survive the next one!!” Apocalypse says shooting a cosmic beam that Lee teleports dodging. Lee appears behind Apocalypse and hits him in the back with his elbow that emits a burst of lightning. Apocalypse turns grabbing Lees arm and elbows it breaking it. Lee falls to the ground screaming in pain as Apocalypse shakes his head.
“What a waste of my time. You are too damn slow it’s a disgrace you appear before me in such a state!” Apocalypse says walking towards Lee who attempts to crawl away with his chin.
“8th…. 8th….”
“No young fool of a ninja. No more power ups. This is your end.” Apocalypse says beginning to grab Lee but then looking to his right to hear a large roar echo through the air.
“Hulk smash!!” A green arm uppercuts Apocalypse sending him flying into the air and Hulk grabs Lee carrying him into a busted up swarma shop. Hulk grunts as he sits down Lee and runs from the shop to see Apocalypse floating in the sky with his arms crossed.
“I already beat you to a pulp once. You want me to do it again!?” Apocalypse states floating to the ground. Hulk roars in anger and runs to him. The both clash fists and a large boom echoes through the city along with a wave of wind that splits the clouds above them.
Hulk kicks Apocalypse in the chest ad Apocalypse slides backwards stretching his arm hitting Hulk in the face making him fall backwards. Hulk grabs a bus and throws it at Apocalypse who destroys it with a cosmic beam. Hulk launches from the above the beam and smashes the ground in front of Apocalypse who jumps into the air. Hulk jumps as well grabbing his legs and throwing him back to the ground.
“I’ll end this now!!!” Apocalypse yells lifting his arms summoning thousands of small robotic arms that stretch from the ship and send laser beams flying towards Hulk. Hulk bulldozes through the blasts and head-butts Apocalypse and the two fall backwards to the ground. Hulk shakes his head as Apocalypse puts him into a choke hold smiling viciously.
“Look up at what I have created you beast! Look up! Each one of those tentacles will kill a human being and find out where your precious Avengers hide in the shadows.”
Hulk spits blood and screams in rage opening Apocalypse’s grip around his neck with his hands. Hulk then swings his head back hitting Apocalypse in his left eye. Hulk grunts and begins to retreat as a large whistle is heard throughout the sky.
“You run from a fight with the great one!?” Apocalypse yells as he spits onto the ground then stepping on it.
“I step on your substance you are nothing!” He yells as a large explosion comes from the top of his ship. The ships shield then bursts into pieces and green sparkles of light begins falling from the sky.
“YOU DARE!! I’LL KILL YOU ALL!” Apocalypse yells as another missile shoots from the clouds ground around the ship and then curving under it at a supersonic speed hitting Apocalypse and exploding the ground burying Hulk in debris and creating a dark cloud of smoke around the city of Manhattan.
“Stark… what have you done!?” Naruto asks barging back into the base.
“What the hell are you doing back!? You need to get to the damn mansion now!” Tony yells.
“You said that it wasn’t unless we failed that you would resort to Plan B! We’re not gone for an hour and you already set the damn thing off! Lee and Tenten were fighting down there! Who knows if they’re still alive!?” Peter says.
“I sent Banner to help him he will be fine I can promise you that Peter. Now let’s all calm down because this had to be done. If it hadn’t then Apocalypse would have found out our location with those damn tentacles.”
“Who the hell are you to tell us that shit!? Like you knew they would!” Tsunade says.
“Listen sweetheart that is Doom technology. I can swear on my life they would have found us.” Tony says sweat running from his face.
“Of course I’m the buy guy! I just saved all of your ****ing lives! Be thankful for once!” He says leaving the room.
“C’mon Naruto…” Peter says.
“At a time like this you want to train?” Naruto asks.
“We have no other choice but to return to the Plan A. Which is apparently our Plan B now.” Peter says.
“Apocalypse may be dead now Peter what use is there to train?” Sakura says.
“Doom is more powerful than even him! If we don’t get stronger we will surely die against the likes of both him and Sasuke can guarantee he’s gotten stronger as well.” Peter says beginning to walk up the steps. He hears a knock form the other side of the wall and stops clenching his fists and closing his eyes.
“There is someone on the other side… it’s not apocalypse… its Bruce…” Peter says opening his eyes and presses his hand against the brick wall opening the passageway.
“I… I made it back with Lee.” Bruce says panting and sitting Lee on the ground.
“Oh my God his arm…” Tsunade says.
“He went toe to toe with Apocalypse with one arm!? I’m impressed.” Tobirama says.
“It wasn’t much of a fight. All I did was anger him into growing stronger and well… that wasn’t the best thing to do being that he’s the strongest villain we’ve faced yet.” Lee says.
“After Thanos we should have trained more. WE would have been prepared.”
“Enough with the should haves Peter. It’s time to make a better future.” Steve says slowly entering the room putting his shield on his back.
“Steve? You should be lying down you aren’t at your fullest yet.” Bruce says.
“I know that. I’m not up to fight. I’m up to talk to my friends.” Steve says sitting on the couch.
“What’s the status of Apocalypse?” Steve asks as Bruce runs to his room grabbing his tablet.
“Um… its showing there’s still a life force amongst the rubble.” Bruce says.
“Dammit… well what exactly was the plan here? The bombing awoke me so I know we set something off so there has to something you all had just in case this didn’t work.”
“This wasn’t the original plan Steve. Me, Naruto, Hinata and Sakura were to head to the Negative Zone to train again. Stark let off the missiles in a panic thinking that Apocalypse may find out our hiding spot.” Peter says.
“Think it was a good call?” Peter stares down Steve who smirks making Peter look downward.
“I really don’t know Steve. I mean we understand why it had to be done but… There might have been innocent people…”
“There were innocent people fighting down there. Tony has to live with this decision. And so does Reed. Now I suggest you all get going. We don’t have time to be chatting any longer now that we know that bastard is still alive.” Steve says standing to his feet. Peter’s team leaves from the underground shelter and the room goes quiet as Tony enters the room.
“He would have found us… You know that right?” Tony asks.
“Yes. He would have.” Steve says leaving the room.
“They… they took Tenten…” Lee says beginning to tear up.
“We’ll get her back Lee.” Ino says.
“She… she was most likely sent to the ship… if she was on that ship… we aren’t getting anything but bones!” He says punching the ground with the side of his fist. He clutches his broken arm as Tsunade continues to heal it.
“We will get you another arm here in a second Lee… just hang in there.” Tsunade says. Lee looks down at his bloody skin that emits smoke.
“Can’t believe that kid fought against Apocalypse. He’s still here too I mean… Jeez what a day.” Cyclops says.
“Amazing meeting. A lot of emotion and whatnot. Definitely one for the books.” Emma says.
“There was an Avenger down there fighting… And he just sent the call.” Rogue says staring down Tony.
“I wouldn’t ponder on it too much. It was a tough decision.” Emma says putting her hand on Rogues shoulder.
“Tough decision my ass. I would have risked our capture rather than kill people who had the guts to face that thing.” Rouge says.
“I thought we discussed this Rouge. Your negativity is going to get you down in the gutter. And once there what will you do?” Charles says.
“We’ve yet to find out.”
“Lee! Leeee!!!” Tenten yells stumbling onto the ground and coughing. She looks to her right to see a horseman riding towards her. She quickly hides behind a rock and the horseman passes by and disappears into the smoke. Tenten slowly makes her way down the street and into a busted up vehicle searching the compartments and finding a bottle of water in the glove. She gulfs it down and looks out the front window to see four horsemen surrounding Apocalypse’s beaten body.
“How in the hell did we let this happen!?” Black Cat asks wiping the blood from her lip.
“The hell happen to you woman?” Cable asks chuckling.
“Damn ***** punched me in the ****ing jaw is what happened. Faster than I’ve ever seen someone move.”
“I’d think so they’ve got cosmic energy…” Raid says, his voice low and grim.
“I know that you newbie.” Black Cat says.
“What will we do about this people? We can’t just leave him here to die he needs to be transported and as quick as possible.” Mystique says.
“We’ll take him to Orochimaru… we will protect him there…” Raid says his body flickering green as a radioactive aura moves around him.
“Calm down Raid you’re going to get us all killed.” Cable says as his horse backs away.
“Scared of a little radioactivity Cable? This power will save us all I can guarantee it.”
“I won’t take your word but Apocalypse thinks highly of you.” Mystique says as they pick up Apocalypse’s body and throw him on Mystiques horse that then grows larger.
“Now to Latveria. Black Cat and Cable you are to stay on the ship. Protect it with your lives.” Mystique says as her horse carries her off into the sky.
“Wow. They get to relax in Latveria while we have to look down at this mess.” Black Cat says as she takes off into the sky.
“Hell not much of a deal to me. Look at all we’ve got in return. Power. Armor. ****ing Cosmic and mystical arms we are living the ****ing dream if you ask me.” Cable says.
“You really think I’m interested in you weapons of war? No wonder you and Doom have been partners for so damn long.” Black Cat says.
“Damn right. To question my loyalty would be to put a gun to your skull.” Cable says as Black Cat smirks at him.
“I’m going to make a run for food. I’m tired of the gourmet shit you guys have. A nice burger would be nice.” Cable says.
“Fine your loss. Lobster and Crab legs. And instead you’d have a damn burger. Your taste in food is just sickening.” Black Cat says as the two split up.
A large black Truth Seeking Orb flies through the clouds at fast speeds carrying Naruto, Peter, Sakura and Hinata inside. They all look through its purple window out at the sunset as the slowly approach their destination.
“Being up here is peaceful. No green ship. No Apocalypse. No anything to hurt you.” Sakura says.
“It’ll be like this again one day. Peaceful. All we gotta do is make it that way ourselves.” Peter says.
“Hey Peter… What ever happened to that Nullifier weapon?” Hinata asks.
“You know about the Nullifier? Well… thing is it’s been destroyed. Happened during the battle against Galactus. We wouldn’t have had to put up with Thanos had it been still working.”
“The Nullifier? What’s that?” Naruto asks.
“A weapon that can destroy anything. Nullify it. It’s a damn life saver.”
“Man sounds like that thing would’ve come in handy.” Naruto says.
“Sure would have. We wouldn’t have to lift a finger to beat these guys.” Sakura says.
“Well actually you would have to point the weapon and pull the trigger so it would take some amount of effort.” Peter says.
“Well I know that smart one I was just saying that… shut p Peter!” Sakura says scowling.
“Alright guys lets calm down. We don’t want Apocalypse sensing us.” Naruto says.
“The guy is most likely in bad shape my friend. He’s not sensing anything but a long nap time.” Peter says.
The TSB lands to the ground and the ninja walk from the orb and into the crater that once was the Avengers Mansion.
“Thought as much.” Peter says pointing his hand towards the ground and shooting a beam that creates a hole that leads to the bottom layer of the building.
“Alright guys. This is it.” Peter says jumping through the hole. He lands to his feet to find Doombots taking apart equipment. The five Doombots turn and look at Peter who smiles and waves.
“Uh… Hey.” Peter says then shooting them all in the face with beams that shoot from his fingers.
“That’s not good… Hey guys its clear!” Peter says as the others jump down the hole.
“So they had left them down here to destroy everything and try to access our data.” Hinata says.
“Um yea that’s right.” Peter says surprised.
“Let’s go see if the portal machine is still intact.” Naruto says as they walk from the room and continue down the hall to a large room containing the portal. Peter walks up to the computer and shakes his head.
“They ripped data form here. If we hadn’t killed them…” Peter says.
“I’d think Doom would already have a way to reach the place. He’s about as smart as Reed isn’t he?” Naruto asks.
“Who’s to say he hasn’t and oh Haha no not even close Naruto.” Peter says firing up to the portal then turning to his right looking behind Naruto.
“Don’t take one more step!” Peter says as a shadow is seen from the corner of the doorway.
“I’m only here to talk. Not to fight. I’m on your side… Well kind of.” A deep voice says.
“There is no kind of. Either you are or you aren’t.” Naruto says.
“I am. Naruto Uzumaki.” The voice says. A man appears from the corner large bulky with muscle and with grey hair. His left eye glows red and his left arm is bionic holding a large blue laser rifle.
“Nathan what are you doing here?” Peter asks. Cable puts his rifle on his back and smiles walking up to him.
“We both know you could have killed me when you sensed me following you after you exited that black orb of yours. Why didn’t you?” Cable asks.
“I wanted to ask how the hell you found us. And capturing one of Apocalypse’s horseman would be a pleasure.” Peter says.
“First off I want you to know that you will not be capturing me. If you do it will lead to a chain of events that will destroy all of us. Second I want you to listen to me Naruto Uzumaki and listen to me well. You must not kill Sasuke Uchiha.”
“I knew it you’re on there side! Trying to convince us to not take out that murderer!? You’re insane coming to us with that bullshit!” Peter says.
“I’ve come from a time where that kind of anger gets us all killed.” Cable says as Peters eyes widen.
“Charles was right….” Peter says.
“So wait a second you’re saying we shouldn’t kill Sasuke, but what the hell do you expect us to do with him?” Naruto asks.
“I don’t know Naruto. You can attempt to capture him like Thanos, but by all means do not kill that man!”
“He will surely be more powerful than Thanos. He will be as strong as Doom if not stronger.” Peter says.
“Why can’t we kill him is the question.” Sakura says.
“Killing him will destroy… destroy things that we love it will… it will do things that you couldn’t imagine it would. It doesn’t need to happen. It can’t by any mean. Even if you yourself have to die. He… must live.”
