It's in the Goldilocks zone. Yes, it's closer to it's sun. But, it's sun is around half the mass of our own and it's a red dwarf, meaning it produces significantly less energy. That, combined with the size of 832-c (around 5.4x the mass of earth), means it's surface temps are much like our own (ranges from 260K - 350K), it also apparently has seasons.

The only thing that would keep us from personally going there is the gravity, but it doesn't mean we can't send probes to check it out up close.

I think in the future we will unravel the mysteries of spacetime and quantum physics which will allow us to travel at faster than light speeds. It would still take years to visit that planet though but the spaceship could be like a moving city. I'd say gate travel or wormholes are possible too but in the very distant future.

You can never travel FTL, because that would require infinite energy.

Though, we can avoid the problem by using something like:

This isn't that far-fetched, and NASA (and other groups) have already started preliminary research, and basic theory development.

We're still a very, very long away from this though. At least a few hundred (maybe thousand) years, because first we need to find a power source, and than we need to conquer gravity. No small tasks, but It's all theoretically possible.

Great read. It would be really interesting to find out if and what type of lifeforms could live on that planet. Maybe they've already made contact with our planet (Area 51 conspiracy and such). It's too bad this will be something that happen generations after I'm gone.
