)I looked at myself in the mirror, took some glares and smirked. He was waiting outside for me, I was nervous. Our first date, I was wearing something appropriate for the weather and yet still had the different look to me. I planned out everything once he was asleep, for about an hour, daydreaming, how the day would smoothen out. I was taking him to the CN Tower, I haven’t ever been there even if it’s only a few bus stops away. I ran out the door, seeing him lean against the fence. I giggled. “You ready?” he yelled softly, enough for me to hear him. I walked over and smiled “mmhmm”.
We walked side by side to the bus stop, it was fairly close, a 4 minute walk. As we waited he suddenly nudged me and asked “where are we going”? I looked at him and smiled, “you’ll see”. He laughed, “Nu-uhh, no! Tell me now!” I gave a small smothered giggle, burying my head in my scarf; he could always make me laugh, no matter how depressed I would feel before, or how furious. “Make me”, I made a wide smile, he shook his head playfully. The bus had appeared as we sat close to the back. Our shoulders pressed, we had very little space. As the time flew by, I rested my head on his shoulder, feeling another embrace; he placed his over my head.
We arrived at Front st. west, as we got off I held his hand and lead him to the district. His head was spinning, right to left, front to back. I gave him a moment to refresh his breath. I was glad he enjoyed are date already, this might actually be a success, I was thrilled to tell myself. As we walked in we both had wide eyes. The place was enormous, stores everywhere, it felt like a mall.
The day went by better than ever, when we exited the tower, we smiled and begun walking to Mandarin, the best restaurant I know. Ordering our food hadn’t taken us too long, it was only 6pm. We fed each other different selections of food, holding out a butter shrimp, he opened his mouth wide and gave that signature smile. Everything went perfect, too perfect to be true…
When I saw who was in front of me I froze. It was him, Josh, the guy that broke my heart into bits of pieces back in high school. I looked down, I wasn’t going to let the cold-hearted ex ruin the night I spent with my future.
I thought he was gone, I looked up as we both stared at each other, I mumbled the ‘f’ word. I held my ever guys hand, “what’s wrong pumpkin?” I looked down and moved closer.
“Mmm, hi there.” He smirked, I gave a glare. I held him tighter, he looked back at me with a questioned face. From there on he was silent. “So this ‘thing’ is your new rebound from last week?” I knew what he was planning, to make me look like the bad-guy here. I wasn’t sure if it was working but it didn’t seem like it. “You-”, he cut me off, “by the way, you left this at my place on Saturday,” He held out a something that I had no conscious of knowing, grinning, I couldn’t believe what was going on. My eyes looked directly at the man I held, as he pushed me and set a bunch of dollar bills on the table, running out the door. “NO!” I screamed. I immediately ran after him as I heard quiet chuckles coming from behind. I looked back, “You don’t even realize what you’ve done” I sobbed, “I-if he doesn’t forgive me, I will never forget what you’ve done.”
Tears were running down my cheeks as I was trying my best to catch up with him. He stopped and looked back at me with a disappointed look, with both hatred and understanding. I ran as fast as I could, burying my head in his chest, I looked up, seeing him look straight forward. “He’s lying, I would never...” My voice was cracking. “I...I love you!”
A long silence retained, I was afraid. “You are amazing, adorably clueless, witty, smart, caring, protective, funny, loyal, understanding, sweet, lovable, and the best thing that’s ever happened to me!!, I wouldn’t trade you for anyone!” I was holding his shirt, tighter every second. He finally looked back at me and believed. He hugged me, tight. “I’m sorry, I was jus-” I pressed my lips on his, when I let go we were only inches from each other…“you don’t have to be.” Wiping away my tears, he smiled and held my hand as we began to walk back.
